I’ve had this feeling of tension since it all finished that I can’t seem to shift - last year was the first time I tried this and didn’t get anything downtown but ended-up grabbing something in the sale afterwards; now I’m thinking what if I’m not that lucky again? Last year I had a back-up in place, but this time I don’t as I felt good about all this - what madness was that?!!  ;D

Last year I selected the closest to the convention centre option but this time I just went with the disregard option since I didn’t get a downtown hotel last time and I didn’t get a waitlist link either, so the change from that is an unknown. Over 1 minute 40 faster than last time though, so lets see what happens... why is time running so slow?!  It must be Tuesday by now ???  :-[

I've gotten in the routine of rewarding myself in some small way no matter how the sale goes. Just had some extra spicy thai food  >:D

Because I’m still not getting any work done today, I’ll throw this out: for last year, what was the latest time anyone got in and still got downtown (which I take to mean closer than the airport hotels)?

I'll be unsettled all day. I tried to take advantage of it right after the sale - hopped on the elliptical for some quick rage-cardio - but I'll still be pouring wine basically the moment I get home from work.

A friend got in at :03 and got downtown about a mile away, not on her list at all but I think she chose the "anything downtown" checkbox.

Yaaasss! I'm about to order some crab cake sandwiches for me and my sister, she helped a lot. I know it didn't go according to plan for some, including me, but all hope isn't lost.

Wow...doesn't it seem like those who used their phones for the hotel sale got in right away?! I'm still trying to figure out what time I got access using Firefox. I'm using [member=4270]mark[/member]'s instructions on how to check my cache but I can't seem to find the info I need!

My iPad which was hot spotted to my phone and my phone were selected first. Both my work computers got in later on.

Please be really careful about generalizing, we didn't get much results data last year from people that had later timestamps and people are more likely to report good (or really bad) results and we really need the "meh" results to fill out the picture.

But there were a number of people with times around 2:30-3:00 who ended up at the front of the 2nd notification group and got downtown hotels.

I am so glad I did this at home and went in to work late.  All day work internet connection has been going on and off and I would have been out of my mind, not to mention out of luck for any chance at a room.  :o

Sure, but our collectively larger group increases the odds, no?

It’s the same for badge sales. The idea is to form a large enough group so that the number of successful purchasers approaches the mean. Otherwise, you risk being the outlier (good or bad).

I'm just finding out now that the hotel exchange rules changed and I missed the deadline for being part of it.

Even though I am a fairly active member, I won't share "group odds".

Any idea if I messed up? I accidentally hit back on my browser after I submitted my form and it took me back to where it asked you to click to start your session.

I was in around 9:02 and finished at around 9:05. Which I thought wasn't too bad. Then I spent the last hour going over when people were let in and I just want to cry...I should have waited till I was off work before I read all the comments  :'( :'( :'( :'(

We had one year, back when everyone went to the form at the same time you and had to fill out the form as quickly as possible, where the entire internet/cellular network in our area went out 5 minutes before the sale. I'm still scarred by the experience.
