It's starting to look like the cutoff was around 9:01:15 or 9:01:20.
Have we seen anyone get a room with a later verified timestamp?
But you know what's sad, [member=3710]SteveD[/member]? I've seen many posts where people got instant access & got nothing today! How does that make sense? :o

I’m gonna reserve judgement on Onpeak(at least for this year) until the next wave of reservations.  Got in right 11:01 and no email today.

A lot of these results aren't adding up -- lots of people getting emails and downtown hotels who reported getting in well after those who got in within a minute. The only explanation is that OnPeak and CCI issued incorrect guidance when they said that they rank based on when you got access to the form -- it must be that they're ranking based on form submission.

This happens every year. I can't explain it. Twice I've been on the "bad" end of this anomaly (I got in much earlier than some people who ended up with my first choice, and I didn't get ANY of my six choices). Once it worked in my favor though (I was discouraged initially in the first round, when many people who got in a minute or two earlier than me didn't get my top few choices - but by some miracle, in the second round of mailings I got my first pick).

Again, I cannot explain this - but I've seen it happen multiple years now.

There seems to be a lot of reasons why they don't give people rooms.  Many more than just using a timestamp.

Supposedly 9:03 on Reddit. I was 9:01:30~.

My access times were 9:00:59 and 9:01:01.  There's a huge difference between 9:01 and 9:02 in terms of downtown hotel availability.  Submission time is what doesn't matter.  I'm saying I got into two forms at almost identical times (9:01) and one was submitted at 9:04 and the other 9:09 and they both got the same thing so submission time doesn't matter.

I think far too many variables exist to rule anything out extensively.

This aligns with my theory. I think, form submission is a sorting variable even though they've never said that. My friend got in before me but submitted way after me (almost to the point of me yelling expletives asking why he is taking his sweet time) and never got placed.

Someone linked to a reddit post where a programmer did some digging into the running man.

In a nutshell, form entry is the primary determining factor overall, but form submission time can affect the outcome.

They calculated 70 entries to form per second. So, if you’re in at 09:00:01 you will be after the 09:00:00 group(1-70) and before the 09:00:02 group(141-210). How fast you submitted will determine where you are placed in your actual group though.

You could be number 71, 140, or anywhere in between within your own “group” depending on how fast you submitted.

There's no way they are based on submission time.  I had two submissions that I did.  The first one accessed at 9:00:59 and was submitted around 9:04.  The second one accessed at 9:01:01 but I didn't even start filling out the form until I finished the first submission.  The second one was submitted at 9:09:09.  Both submissions got MGH.
maybe it has something to do with room/bed type

I believe I got my form around 1 min or so and I got my first choice, The Sofia. I also only submitted one for this year since I didn't want to risk my good time. I got dinged 2 or 3 years ago when I accidentally submitted 2 forms with the same phone number. I submitted my form around 3-4min later so I don't believe submission time makes a difference.

I really think some people's unusual results of not getting anything good within one min of getting the form could be due to multiple submissions. I'd look into that next year.

Although I did not get an email from OnPeak today, I'm not hanging my head down.   I had three consecutive years where I didn't get an email at all. In the past two years, a friend and FOCC helped me out with a hotel when I did not receive an email from FOCC.

So, anyone feeling upset today there's still hope for round 2 and whatnot.  Best of luck.

I just scanned here and Twitter and there seems to be some hotels who overwhelmingly were given out--MGH, Bayfront, Hard Rock, MMM.

Granted, those are also the most requested hotels, but there are a lot of hotels downtown that I'm not seeing mentioned at all or very little.  I wonder what percentage of the requests they actually fulfilled today.  It doesn't feel like it was half, but more like 25% or a third.

So is it true that a lot of downtown hotels will still be sent out in Wave 2, or are they few and far in between what I’d assume to be a majority non-downtown?

I really feel room type/number of rooms/number of people plays a bigger factor than we seem to account for.  I’m always only requesting one bed for two people.

I got in immediately, using my phone's browser, and I got my first choice, the Omni.

I have a friend who isn't on this forum that got through at around 9:00:30 and she told me today she got the Marriott Gaslamp, her fourth choice. She's the only person I've heard mention getting that hotel so far.

Last year I submitted three forms.  In wave one, the first one to enter got the Sofia.  In wave 2, the other two forms got the Westgate and the Westin San Diego.
