I got a room the last two years thanks to the good people in this forum. I was hoping to be able to give back this year, but we'll see what happens next week when the remainder of the emails are distributed.

On a positive note, there has always been an abundance of downtown hotels released on OnPeak when the dust clears after the initial sale. I'm hoping that's the case this year as well.

Yeah, I've certainly been helped here, as well.

I started a couple of threads for hotel offers and for hotel 'asks' in the new topics area for anyone interested in coordinating amongst themselves. And yes, there will be OnPeak inventory available, too, once  the two rounds are completed.

I have a question. If you happen to get a hotel from someone else, but their reservation is for a shorter stay, is it possible to extend it?

I've had no issues adding bookends. Sunday for sure, and the Tuesday before the con most of the time. And both those days are cheaper than the lotto rates. I did this the last 3 years for Hard Rock and Omni.

Now, if you need to add a Friday or Saturday...RIP.

It depends on the days you want to extend. Pre or post con (like Tuesday or Wednesday night and Sunday are likely to work out) but it's based on availability when you go to do it. You can always try to bookend your stay directly too.

Does anyone have experience with the website with the remaining hotels?

I've heard people snag downtown hotels such as MMM, Bayfront, etc really fast, but it was only single days or days that were only Thursdays and Sundays.

Yes, here are the stats form last year days were Wednesday - Sunday

May 3rd - HBF, MGH go up 5 plus rooms

May 10th - 11th MGH goes up 5 plus rooms

May 16TH HBF, Gant, Sofia, Solamar go up

June 6th HBF goes up to 4 rooms

June 7th HR, Andaz, Embassy, courtyard
OMNI - sat only

jun 25th - still available

June 25th HR, GRAND, INDIGO, OMNI up 4 rooms

You have to check constantly and be real fast when choosing the room and putting in your info.

I was able to get MGH last year this way :D

So there's still hope :D

As someone that has snagged a room the last 2 years well after the sale, I can assure you it was pretty damn random when the rooms popped up.  It seemed like their were more rooms popping up on monday but again it was really random.  I snagged HBF last year and Manchester the year before.

Maybe I just missed it in this thread, but did anyone hear about people being allotted Mission Valley or Shelter Island hotel rooms?

That really sucks.  I have the feeling that onPeak just ignores the room types now and puts people into anything that is available.
By the way, they did remove the header "2 Adults, 2 Beds" for this round.  Currently the form lists the column as "1 Adult, 2 beds - 2 beds not guaranteed".
Hopefully you can get it changed now, or can change it when you get to the hotel.

Yeah, I had seen that at the top of the column...it sure does make it confusing. But either way, Embassy was one of the few hotels that specifically let you pick "king" or "two doubles" (or whatever). Disappointing that they gave us whatever they wanted. :(

I got in instantly to the form, but I got my second entry of the Hilton Bayfront. First choice was the Marriott Marquis.

Maybe it has to do with the time of submission, which I submitted at 9:03.

There are posters around here that got MMM and want the Bayfront. You should find them for a swap.

My friend got a Mission Valley hotel, and she submitted around the 9:03 mark.

I just scanned here and Twitter and there seems to be some hotels who overwhelmingly were given out--MGH, Bayfront, Hard Rock, MMM.

Granted, those are also the most requested hotels, but there are a lot of hotels downtown that I'm not seeing mentioned at all or very little.  I wonder what percentage of the requests they actually fulfilled today.  It doesn't feel like it was half, but more like 25% or a third.

I don't know the exact time I got in, but it was under 1 minute.

I got my 1st choice - Hotel Solamar. 2 King rooms. I feel like room type as well as choosing a less popular hotel helps - in my experience at least.
