I wouldn't do more than 4 to a room either, and I'm reluctant to do more than 2. For each person after 2, the price per person doesn't go down nearly as much as the comfort per person (especially when they charge extra for 3-4).

We're a three adult family group so two have to share one of the double beds.  Granddaughter always has to share one of the doubles with Mom or Grandma but we rotate so Mom and Grandma get a couple of nights each with a bed to ourselves :D Wish I had the $ to get two rooms!

That's an easy one. King room plus a rollaway. Then everyone has plenty of space to sleep!

Would to hotels care if wether or not how many people stay in the room? I know prices would usually go up a bit when the number of occupants increases, but the sdcc hotel prices are set regardless.

We have some late additions and went from 5 (2 kids) occupants to 7 (3 kids). Anyone ever roomshare with way too many people? How much is too much for a standard room because I'm thinking anything over 5 is alot.
The hotel may have an issue with you having over capacity amount of people in a room.  There are occupancy rates to begin with, and the fact that you will be using more resources in a smaller room may make them upset.  While they probably won't catch you, I would not want to mess with it personally.  Even 5 people in a single room is pushing it in my opinion (you'll notice they don't even offer 5 people capacity in the dropdown, only quad).  Make sure you tip the housing staff each time you get your room turned over too.

The hotels kinda expect some of that going on, but don't be a you-know-what about it.

And *especially* tip the wait staff if you're in a room w/a lot of folk!

When I was a teenager attending Anime Expo I stayed in a room with 9 people.  I am no longer a teenager.  I simply can't do that anymore.  Two to a bed is about where we cut it off.  We may allow a floor sleeper maybe depending on factors like fire code and hotel policy.  But even that's a stretch.

You should ALWAYS tip the housekeeping staff, but especially during these types of events and especially if you are using a lot of things they have to clean up.

I flamed out on the 2 rounds of emails, but wound up getting a room in one of my top choices via a member here.

The room is a king bed double occupancy, and if I had my way, I'd get two beds.

My gut says don't try to change anything until the reservation goes to the hotel right before SDCC and try and change then... I'd rather share a bed than lose a room.

What do you all think?

Ask at check in. You might get a no, but you might get a yes. If they say no, then ask for a rollaway.

I have a random hotel question. For all of you guys that travel often, is it true that corner rooms are bigger?

I wouldn't change, and just swap who sleeps where each day.  Nothing wrong w/setting up sheets/comforters/pillows on the floor.  Comic-Con Slumber Party!

Yes and most know it and charge anywhere of $50-100 extra fee a night during con.

Absolutely.  Last year the day reservations were transferred to HBF, I jumped on the Hilton Honors app immediately and picked a corner room on a high floor just because of this.  Same price, better room.  The corner rooms at MGH are much bigger as well.  Considered and "upgrade".
