I wanted to make a thread for posting any downtown hotel deals that pop up between now and the convention. There are ALWAYS a few surprise direct or 3rd party bookings for downtown hotels.
If you didn't get a downtown hotel in the Travel Planners lottery, FEAR NOT (well, maybe book a backup that is cancellable).
So when I see the deals, I will post them here. Feel free to watch this thread to get email alerts.
Know that you will have a lot of competition, so you will need to act quick. But id rather our members here be able to take advantage of these.
To that end, I request that all deals found be put into "Spoiler" tags (the "Sp" button in the reply editor).
Criteria Id like everyone to follow:
1) Reasonable price (no $500+ per night please)
2) Downtown Hotel
3) Con Dates (8th through the 12th)
4) Spoiler Tags to keep it to FoCCI members only.
5) No "Questionable" booking sites please. If you google them, and there are suspicions of money laundering or ties to terrorist groups.. maybe don't tell us about that one.
6) PLEASE only use this thread to post the deal. don't do any other discussion here, make a new thread to have a discussion. people will have notifications enabled on this thread, which means they will get texts, emails etc. and it is not good if most of the alerts are NOT for actual deals, but just discussions about them.

I'll keep an eye out for you, Alyssa! Right now some of the TP downtown hotels are available on Wednesday and Sunday nights, but I'm guessing that's not what you had in mind...

$265a night for a hostel room? Sounds a little high.

If it's private and has its own bathroom I think that's a reasonable price for downtown during SDCC.

I suppose it also matters on which hostel we are referring to...some of the ones im coming across have really bad reviews

yay, that's awesome! i hope you have a great time! i really wanted try to book something in the Gaslamp too (even just for a night), but my boyfriend doesn't want to have to switch hotels that much... =(

i've got a condo for the duration so we'll just be taking an over night bag into the hotel, not a full on switch ;)

Mad scramble to get a room for a friend. I never had to get a room before, so I feel like a fish out of water. Frantic, actualy. How do you people do it?!!

We stress about it all year!
Seriously though, I think TP might still have some rooms left on Coronado.
