Title: San Diego Comic Fest, 2022

An important message about the future of San Diego Comic Fest.
Mike Towry has retired as Board President of San Diego Comic Fest. Please welcome our new Board President Alonso Nunez.
"When I started Comic Fest back in late 2011, my purpose was to create an experience for fans that would be like the early days of Comic-Con. I think that has now mostly been achieved and I am excited to look forward to seeing how Alonso, Matt, Lisa, Paul and all the other Comic Fest volunteers will build upon this foundation to create a new and ever-improving experience for fans.
Thank you for all your help over the years and for caring so much about Comic Fest. Without your vital contributions and enthusiasm, there never would have been a Fest nor would it have become the unique and wonderful event that it is.
With Regards & Best Wishes"
- Mike Towry (Founder)
"I am a fourth generation San Diegan, and I have long been proud to call this my hometown. I graduated from the School Of Visual Arts in New York City in 2009, with a Bachelors in Cartooning (or comic-making, if you will) and live here now with my family of four. I am the Executive Director of Little Fish Comic Book Studio, a nonprofit comic arts educational studio and advocacy group, and have the pleasure of this year being a San Diego Comic-Con Eisner Industry Award Judge.
As San Diego Comic Fest looks towards a reopening in 2022 and the future, it is our intention to keep it exactly as Mike has left it for us – small but exciting, inclusive but diverse, the present but also honoring comic's past and reflecting its future. Matt Dunford will continue on as the fantastic Chairman of Comic Fest, and we welcome onboard Lisa Ditore and Paul Silver as Executive Director and Managing Director, respectively.
Thank you for your involvement with Comic Fest, and for the help, support and excitement that you have all brought to this event. Here's to the future!"

For those not in San Diego, all of Convoy Street is packed with places to eat.  Kearny Mesa is the Asian area in San Diego.  So a lot of those places are Asian.  That area is where there's a large concentration of Asian supermarkets including one actual Japanese supermarket as in a branch of a supermarket chain in Japan.  It's also where there's a rare Book Off outside of Japan.  It's where you can get a Otaku fix.  Recently it's looking even more like it does in Japan where they have a section of the store filled with little bags of collectibles for sale just like little stalls/stores in Akiba.  The Japanese supermarket in the same mini-mall recently installed a gachapon area.  Not just one or two machines, but an entire area like in Japan.  On Convoy you can also get real Chinese food and not American Chinese food.
