Has anyone ever tried to change their room rate?

Here’s my situation:

I’m sharing w/3 other people, so because we selected “quad room” the MGH is charging is $345/night instead of $295.

I could change to 1-2 people on the OnPeak form, but worried that might cause issues when checking in and getting key cards for room.

Our reservation is Tues-Mon, however, I’m the only one coming early on the Tuesday and staying Sunday night/checking out Monday. Wondering if after the reservation transfers to the MGH at the beginning of July if I call them, would they change the room rate for those 2 nights to the lower rate.

Has anyone ever dealt with something like this?

I've always left it at at least 3 people so the bed type doesn't get changed.  Does lowering it from 4 to 3 occupants lower it a couple bucks?  Personally I wouldn't go beyond that.

I agree with TardisMom. If you lower it to 2 people, then you are much more likely to get a king room. Lower it to a triple and then (on average) it will work out, when there are some nights with fewer people and some with 4.

Before I put the deposit down if it was 1-2 people it was the $295, 3 people was maybe $325 or something like that, and the 4 was $345.

Now that I’ve put the deposit down, it won’t let me edit the reservation online.

That’s why I was thinking about trying to go through the hotel directly after it transfers and ask about the 2 nights where I’ll be the only one there.

Try to book the Tuesday separately on the direct Hyatt website for 2 people and specific bed type and view?  Rates are $229-249 for 2 Queen beds.  And Sunday seems to be $259-289.

I had MGH last year as triple occupancy and we wound up being two people.  At check in desk, we were asked if we wanted a King room and I asked if that would change the rate.  The desk person said no, but we were glad to keep the two beds.

Forum Housekeeping:

Minor changes to the title of the first calendar link for Comic-Con hotels.

Changed "Hotel Sale-SDCC 9AM PDT" to "Submit Hotel Reservation Lottery Forms (SDCC) - 9AM PDT."

This is to clarify that Comic-Con doesn't have a normal hotel sale per se (unlike their Early Bird Hotel Sale)... Rather, the actual hotel reservation process uses lottery submission forms.  I also believe this follows along with and better matches the other calendar links for "Hotel Placements" round 1 and 2.

With major props to [member=364]Angology[/member] for cataloging the calendar links for our forum community and staying on top of important dates.  ^__~

If you asked for 2 rooms but it turns out you only need one, can you change it in the reservation form? Or do you need to call Onpeak?

When you do the deposit you can delete the extra room if you no longer want it.  If it is a downtown room, though, it would be nice to offer it on the Offers sheet and then do both deposits at the same time.  There is a little trash can on the screen for unwanted rooms.

In the hotel exchange forum, I created a walkthrough of both the single room process of deposits and the multi-room/multi-cards deposit process. You would just only assign one room to the other person, and then keep one to yourself!
