Yeah i think this is just a testing out phase for SDCC this year. I sure there will be alot to do but just not what we are used too.

I've been feeling uneasy about how few announcements are out in general

I just want the event to be reminiscent of every sdcc before now but alas I'm sure some were weary to commit

What is the incentives to haul exclusives to Comic Con when they can sell it to the majority online.

I'm ready for a more subdued sdcc, but there must have been an incentive to do physical exclusives before 2020 when they could sell online

"Thanks to network site HissTank.com for letting us know a little tidbit about Hasbro’s overall plans for SDCC 2022.  During an online roundtable with the G.I. Joe team today, Hasbro said it will NOT be selling their convention exclusives in person this year at San Diego Comic Con.  All orders for “convention’ exclusives will be handled on Pulse with shipping directly to you at a later date.  That should free up some line time for those attending, and ensure a wider audience has access to the units.  We are still waiting for the full run down, so if as more info comes out we will update if needed."

Not seeing a queue of people at the Hasbro booth will be a gutting feeling this year.  We can only hope to see that return in one more year.

It just seems the smartest way to go, honestly. Why go through all the logistics of getting that stuff to SD and storing it all week to sell? It has to cost them a lot of money to do it

That's not covid. That's a cost effective move.

I think it may be a cost effective move brought on by Covid since there are still supply chain issues along with the uncertainty of possible spikes that still exist. Higher gas prices and labor issues probably also played a part too. Makes me wonder now about the other toy companies and if most of them are going to go this route as well.

I'm seeing no down side to this! Grab a QR code and buy at your convenience then delivered to your door.

The downside is there are no more San Diego Comic Con Exclusive. It looks like it’s more like a pre order before the mass buys it.

Careful about “your convenience.”  The QR codes for the Celebration figure were only good the days of the con.

They could still be easily exclusive to the con. So far no indication they wouldn't be.

This could be good insight.  Like, the major companies weren't 100% confident there would be an SDCC in time to ramp up exclusives so it may be slim pickings (which my wallet will be happy about) from the majors who likely have a lot of lead-time than much smaller companies

Well, it's likely a bit of both, no?  COVID (might have) led to loss of revenue AND led to the uncertainty of if there'd even be an SDCC.  It would be more cost effective to skip out (hi, DC/WB), but that more cost-averse thinking may be driven due to COVID issues
