Just found this article about IDW's plans for WonderCon.

Neat! I'll have to check out their booth at WonderCon and see what they've got. My kids have become really interested in the Star Trek titles.
-
For those of us with little fangirls at home, I saw on another forum, Mattel might be doing something with Monster High at WC. Nothing was really said, other than there is talk in the Monster High circles of a possible Monster High exhibit at WC. It was on a collector/fan forum, so don't know how much truth there is to it.
-
Just read this about the becoming Iron Man website. Screen Crush thinks it might tie into WC or SDCC. IM3 will be released before SDCC, so hopefully it will tie into WC someway. Here's the link

I am SO hoping for an Iron Man panel!
Hopefully Robert Downey Jr decides he could use some more adoration from his fans and makes an appearance.
-
That would be cool. I remember at the last wizard world at Anaheim they had a special tie in with Acura and shield for Thor. It was cool you got a shield photo ID card.
-
Last year they had a neat Avengers display where you could take a picture with Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer.
-
That was cool too.
-
The other cool thing from last year's WC was HBO's get your head put on King Joffrey's spike. With G.O.T. Season Premier on the last day of WC, you would think they would do something cool like your pic holding Joffrey's head or with Daenerys' Dragons.
-
Just found this link to pre-order Tom Hodges sketches for WC. Here's the link

Googling for WonderCon 2013 exclusives, Friends of CCI comes up in the first page

Whoo hoo! We rock!!!
-
I've notice that a lot when search for things related to SDCC or WC on google.
-
Here it is from Mr Queen. He will be at WC, so I think it's safe to say there will be an Arrow panel.

1 month and 3 days until WC!
-
Last year they had a neat Avengers display where you could take a picture with Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer.
I remember walking by and seeing Jeph Loeb taking a picture holding Cap's shield. :) I'm hoping they do something a little bigger than last year, because while it was neat taking a picture, that seemed to be it for Marvel. I kinda wanted some giveaways, or contests or something like what they did last year at SDCC.
-
You would think Marvel will do something awesome since WC is the only major con happening before Oron man 3 comes out. And its the first post-Avengers movie.
-
Sorry for the typo. My bad.
-

Well, to be fair, Marvel did kind of make a pretty big splash at Comic-Con in 2012 with an Iron Man 3 panel
-
Not very comic related but I follow a few Capcom employees on twitter. They said they're very excited for a announcement at PAX east. I asked of they would be bringing that exciting announcement with them to Wondercon a few days later and they said yes!

I don't remember much of a video game presence last year so that'd be cool.
-
Pure speculation but here is a list of genre/comic property movies coming out between Wondercon and SDCC. It would be great to see a panel from any of them.
The Evil Dead
Iron Man 3
Star Trek Into Darkness
Man of Steel
World War Z
Kick Ass 2
R.I.P.D
Pacific Rim
-
Hopefully we will since they come out before SDCC. Mark Kern creator of WoW, Firefall, and Red 5 Studio said he might be at WC with Project Cosplay. If i remember right, last year they had playable demos of the new resident evil.
-
Here's something else making reference about a possible "Battlestar Galactica" panel at WC.
http://herocomplex.latimes.com/tv/battlestar-galactica-blood-chrome-star-on-secret-cylon-agenda/#/0
-
Just saw Super7 store will be at WC.
-
Lego Batman the movie will be at WC too. Here's the info

Here's another panel I found about laws and the multiverse. Haven't heard much about it before, but they said they will gearing their panel more towards zombies. Here's the link

Considering how much bigger the new large panel venue is going to be, that would be awesome.
-
It's almost double the size from last year so it will be awesome this. Plus you need to think about the huge success of SDCC, the masses who weren't lucky enough to get badges, and the rumors of CCI wanting to have two large cons.....ya it should be awesome this year.

There's an organization in the process of restoring the Enterprise D bridge from the framework of old set pieces. Once done, they're going to make it an interactive museum where people can visit and 'play'. As part of raising awareness and funding, they are traveling the Con circuit. CCI was nice enough to donate free Exhibitor space and panel space for them at WonderCon (and they're waiting on word to see if this will happen at SDCC as well).
This is the latest announcement.

It's weird that the official site still hasn't updated. Wondercon is coming up quick.

Believe the blog mentions 03/15 for program release.
-
SDCC is the same. The different vendors release stuff on the Internet to start the buzz, but CCI won't put the complete list on their page until a couple weeks before.
-
Not really a surprise, but theonering.net will host a panel at WonderCon.

I don't know why I read that as the "onion ring".

Cool
-
Oh snap just saw at WC on Friday they are going to have a screening of doctor who with black orphan. Awesome!!!
-
Mathematical an adventure time panel on Saturday too. The info is on the toucan blog.
-
Just notices on the toucan blog, the only panel they listed for being in the arena is Sunday's Nerdist. Fridays doctor who is in room 300. I can't wait to see what will be in the arena the rest of the time. I have a feeling the arena will be the new hall h.

I was noticing that as well. I think there are gonna be some big changes and hopefully bigger panels! Can't wait to see more come out on Monday.
-
I did not notice that! Thanks for posting and restoring my hope! *fingers crossed*
My kids are excited about he Lego Batman showing though. ;)
-
I think this year will out do last year.
-
Looks like the Nerdist LIVE! at The Grove of Anaheim has sold out (already!), this def. may be a big year.
-
I'm sure Sunday's Nerdist at WC will be awesome. Hoping it might be something along the lines of Talking Dead since the season finale is that day.

I have one of Bonnie's plushes from DesignerCon. They are very well made and quite adorable.

Flat Bonnie as in Bonnie Burton?

Panel announcement/confirmation from Tumblr (http://cassandraclare.tumblr.com/post/45139119461/wondercon-and-new-mortal-instruments-theatrical): there will be a Mortal Instruments panel with Lily Collins + other cast members as well as author Cassandra Clare.
As an ex-stan from her fan fic days, if I end up having to sit through this I will basically be loling 24/7.

Falling Skies will have a panel:

Hmm.... at least it's different.
I'll take it, especially after the lack of exclusives last year.
-
The falling skies will be cool
-
Just read Super7 will be previewing their retro "fast food" Alien glasses at WC.
-
The falling skies will be cool
agreed, it's one of the few panels i really enjoy. from the tv guide blurb;
Executive producer Remi Aubuchon will be joined by cast members Drew Roy (Hal), Sarah Carter (Maggie) and Seychelle Gabriel (Lourdes) for a panel at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, March 30.
The panel will include a Q&A with Aubuchon and the actors along with exclusive clips from the Season 3 premiere, which is set to air in June. TV Guide Magazine senior editor Rich Sands will be the moderator.
-
The arrow panel will be cool. I know it got some bad reviews last year on preview night, but I enjoy watching it.
-
Here's some info I found about Archaia signings for WC.

Too bad they will only be on display. Reminds me of the good ole days when Burger King and McDonalds had the cool Star Wars and Star Trek ones.

The map of the exhibit hall is up for WonderCon 2013 on the site if you want to get an idea of the lay of the land. :)
http://www.comic-con.org/wca/2013/exhibitors
-
WonderCon certainly has grown as expected. The floor looks huge.
-
It definitely looks bigger than last year, and the layout is different as well!
They still have DC by the doors though. Just asking for another massive traffic jam...

Can't seem to find Marvel comics on there. Can someone either confirm, or point out that I'm blind/missing Marvel anywhere on that map or exhibitor list?

I can't find them either... ?
-
No Marvel or Disney it seems...D23 influence?
-
Weird. Even though it is 2 halls as opposed to the one from last year, the floor looks to be roughly the same size.
-
Looks like the California Browncoats aren't attending either...

They're listed in the exhibitors, first in the C's, #1286. ;)

It's definitely larger, but with the Arena line (far right line area) now in play that does eat up a good amount of floor space.
-
No Marvel or Disney it seems...D23 influence?
I don't remember Disney having any sort of large presence (or an exhibit booth) last year at WonderCon. But even with SD Comic-Con a mere four weeks away from D23 in 2011 Marvel had a HUGE presence in the Exhibit Hall. And at WonderCon that year they were really hyping up SHIELD stuff, with attendees able to become official members of SHIELD.
That would really be not cool if Marvel took a pass on WonderCon :-\
-

Oh good! Must have missed it! I was looking at the 'fan tables' list.

I would do a booth count again if my program from last year wasn't in storage. :)
I can't get the friggin' map to print clear. Grrrrrrrrrr.
-
Hmmmm, odd that Marvel isn't listed, especially since Iron Man 3 is only about a month away from release. They also just attended sxsw. Also noticed bluefin/tamashii nations isn't attending.

Just heard from Ryan Penagos, Executive Editorial Director for Marvel Digital Media Group and Marvel.com via his Twitter account. He said Marvel will not have a booth at WonderCon, and when I asked if Marvel would have any presence he said Marvel would not be at WonderCon.
What a major disappointment... :-\

i am not a fan of this type of map thingy...I really wanted to put the map in the vendor thread...

Well that just put a giant damper on this Marvel fan's day. Seems very odd that they could have a presence at SXSW and C2E2 but not Wondercon. Not even any comics related panels. That's a shame. ???
-
i am not a fan of this type of map thingy...I really wanted to put the map in the vendor thread...
Yeah, its not the best. I am trying to print it so that the booth numbers aren't fuzzy so I can mark the comic booths ahead of time.
-
Looks like the size is double than last year.
What are "LINES" for? for getting stuff at the booths? Panels? Last year it wasn't that crowded that they needed lines for anything...
-
No Gentle Giant this year either. A shame, my brother really liked the 3D Yoda exclusive I got for him last year.
-
I'm kind of bummed about no gentle giants either. Guess we will have to wait for SDCC for them
-

I wonder why this is? Marvel has always been at WonderCon before.
Do you think it's a deliberate snub to CCI?
-
What are "LINES" for? for getting stuff at the booths? Panels? Last year it wasn't that crowded that they needed lines for anything...
When they had WonderCon in San Francisco, there was a huge 'lines' area near registration, where people waited to get onto the floor before opening. It was similar to the lineup area they have in the Sails at SDCC.
-
Last years line up area was below the exhibit floor. Just like SDCC entry line up.
-

Yeah except there wasn't a line line and just people lingering around the floor waiting for them to allow you up the escalator. Looks better organized this year and probably helps that there aren't 2 other events going on at the same time.
-
I don't think it's a snub to CCI at all seeing how they're already making SDCC plans.
-

Its predominantly the queue line for the Arena which is where the largest panels will be held this year. D23 had it's queue for the Arena in the same location so I assume it'll be used the same way.
-
I wonder why this is? Marvel has always been at WonderCon before.

Could be a desire to not have their employees working on Easter weekend. Disappointing, but understandable.
-

I didn't know that. It's a bit of a relief! Thanks for the information.

Granted, no idea what those plans are but I've seen Ryan tweet about, as he says, "seeeektrit" SDCC stuff.

A little more information about the Enterprise-D Bridge Restoration booth...

I think the fact it's Easter weekend kind impacted everything.

I think the fact it's Easter weekend kind impacted everything.
That's a great point. While that facts has been in the back of my mind for awhile, I forgot about WonderCon being Easter weekend when I was freaking about Marvel lack of attendance.
-
There's going to be an Evil Dead panel on Saturday. Here's the announcement trailer (http://youtu.be/0VRvq7biTmA).
-
Nice! I'd love to see Bruce Campbell!
-
For our more cerebral members here, ;) the Comics Arts Conference is holding a slew of panels at WonderCon Anaheim with college professors and a few industry folk.
http://www.comic-con.org/wca/comics-arts-conference
I don't know how long this schedule has been up since I can't access it from the side menu. I accidentally found it playing with the drop down menus across the top. :)
-
Cool something for us well learned folks.

As interesting as some of those sound, I have no shot at attending them. I'm going with with my brother who's a college professor himself and he's frustrated enough having to deal with the gasbags teaching the Humanities during meetings. No way I could get him to go anywhere near a panel with some of them talking.
-
Kevin is your brother Dr Sheldon Cooper?

He's ALWAYS a lot of fun at conventions

I think it was in Hall D last year if I remember correctly, the volley ball tournament was in halls A, B and C
So it is bigger but it does not use the whole convention center

Eric Goldmanâ€@EricIGN
Warner Bros. TV will have Teen Titans Go! and Revolution panels at WonderCon on 3/30 and an Arrow panel on 3/31.

Awesome! I can tell you we'll be at Revolution!

Awesome! I can tell you we'll be at Revolution!
Slightly off topic, but going along with this - I'm really struggling with Revolution. I've been trying to get into it, but it just seems a little too disjointed for me to stay with it. I'll give it another season and hope it picks up to hold my interest, but right now it just seems like there's a lot of sword fighting that goes on (where the hell did these guys learn a skill like that? Not many people I know that know how to fight well with edged weapons, and it's not a skill that you pick up in the military).
I WANT to like it, but it just seems laggy at times...
And with that said - GeekRoundTable (geekroundtable.typepad.com (http://geekroundtable.typepad.com)) will be hosting a meetup at the Anaheim Marriott Fri night at 10, if anyone wants to meet up with "the Geekiest of the Geek crowd"...:) I'd like to go, but I dunno if I'll make it due to an early start that day driving up from San Diego to Anaheim.
-
You're right that there's a lot of suspension of disbelief (especially with regard to scientific principles) when watching Revolution, but it is a show that our entire family enjoys together, and that's important to us. ;)
-

I think Revolution is our yearly winner for the show with a Wondercon panel that ends up getting canceled a few weeks later.

There's quite a few people who have experience with edged weapons at your local dojo....
It's not my fav show either, I think I've got two or three unmatched shows on my TiVo.
-
I really think the three month hiatus is going to hurt Revolution- it had built up some goodwill, but with all the other genre shows either now running or about to start up, it's really dropped down my list of things to watch.
-

That's a good point. I almost forgot about it myself. That would explain why they're having a big panel at WonderCon though.
-

I honestly thought that NBC had already cancelled it. They've done so with less expensive shows that hadbetter ratings.
-
I honestly thought that NBC had already cancelled it. They've done so with less expensive shows that hadbetter ratings.
NBC has no clue how to run their network. All the money they spent on Smash and they've moved it to Saturday night. Messing w/ Community (so annoyed that they delayed the show so the episodes feel off b/c they're celebrating Thanksgiving in the episode and it's March not to mention the changes w/ the showrunner, etc). So yeah, I don't foresee Revolution getting much more than halfway through season 2 before disappearing for good (if not sooner).
-

I'm still bitter about them canceling Dark Shadows in 1991.
-
Maybe they can reboot ALF.
-
Oh and just saw on Twitter, Daniel Logan (Boba Fett) will be signing at WC.
-
Maybe they can reboot ALF.
PLEASE don't give them any ideas...
(though, FWIW, I would LOVE to see a reboot weekly series of ALF that is really all about the making of the TV show ALF: that was insane times)
-
Alf the melmack days
-
The only show I watch on NBC is Grimm. As long as that sticks around I'm happy ;D

Alyssa, I just want to Express my appreciation. You have been working hard to post updates and info about WonderCon, when you are not even attending and it is not the stated focus of this board. IMHO you have gone above and beyond. So thank you!!!

Great, you just cursed it. NBC hates it when people watch things. >:D
-
Just saw on twitter, Stan Lee's Kids Universe will be at WC. I was lucky enough to go to the kick off for SLKU last month and its a pretty cool idea for the little ones to get them into reading.

Don't know if it's been posted yet, but the new Steven King series, Under the Dome, will be at WC.

WonderCon programming schedule is up!
http://www.comic-con.org/wca/friday
-
Woohoo!
-
It looks like we'll be hitting Geek & Sundry at 1:30 pm and then hanging out for the Star Trek High Definition panel. Who will be joining us? :D
-
I wish I going. A few panels like Arrow & Much A Do caught my eye.
-
So glad they're doing an encore screening of Doctor Who on Sunday. I wanted to see it Friday, but it conflicts with some other panels.
-
Not bad, looks like i'll be camping out a bit for the Saturday panels. CANNOT WAIT! I'm really excited to see the Arena being used, WonderCon is really going to be something else this year.
-

That sounds a good idea. I think I"m planning to go to Geek & Sundry panel and then screenings of Revolution and Arrow. Than Super-man screening and than Doctor Who.
-
The Richard Hatch BSG panel is right before G&S, in the same room.
-
I wish I going. A few panels like Arrow & Much A Do caught my eye.
I wish you were going too! It would be great to meet up with you at a less frenetic con. ;)
Ah well, I guess I'll have to wangle my way into the Ausiello party to meet a celeb like you! :D
-
I am no celeb! LOL

I am no celeb! LOL
You are as far as I'm concerned! ;)

It looks like programming for the other days is now up!

well not really- I can tell i'm gonna have to do wonder con some year
-
well not really- I can tell i'm gonna have to do wonder con some year
You definitely will!!!!
-
It feels like there is less Hollywood stuff than last year (or at least, less I care about ;)) and I'm still disappointed about Into Darkness/Marvel, but PACIFIC RIM :D! And Much a Do on Sunday :).
The Friday schedule also has a lot of interesting things--The Search for Zuko's Mom, Star Trek vs. Star Wars, Law, Forensics, and Zombies (super annoyed that this is at the same time as the Star Trek Restoration panel).
Now to figure out which day to cosplay (it was originally going to be Friday, but we might end up spending most of the day in panels, so...).
-
certainly seems like the kind of event the people who complain about what SDCC has become keep wanting it to be. too bad we will not be told what the attendance #s will be.
-
Well we will see by the crowd size
-

There were a number of articles last year stating that attendance was 50,000. I would be curious to know what the attendance is for this year, and how much it has gone up!
-

There's a sofa available to you whenever you want.
Was there a talkback panel last year? I don't know if the point of the feedback will be for them to get people asking to move it back to SF or to plan for future years in Anaheim.

I'm torn - Geek & Sundry at 1:30, or Quick Draw with Mark Evanier, Jeff Smith, and Scott Shaw! at 2 pm?!?
That's actually a tough call for me, because the Quick Draw panels are ALWAYS a good laugh and a CCI staple for years. If Geek & Sundry is packed (and it sounds like it might be a full room) I'll be hitting up Quick Draw instead.

I had the same dilemma.
You could always go to G&S for half an hour and then slip into Quick Draw. That's what I was thinking of doing.

I might do that - depends on how full the room is, though. I remember for the Geek & Sundry panel last year, it was a full room, and I have a feeling it's going to be just like that for this year. If I walk up and the line is crazy long, I'll hit up Quick Draw instead. :)
-

I didn't realize they sang on the Dark Side.
When I'm at WonderCon, I'll be sure to listen for the Sith singing 'Happy Happy Joy Joy'. ;)

I think last year a lot of people were there to see Wil Wheaton. Apparently he won't be there this year.
We were in for the previous panel before G&S last year, and had no problems moving up and getting very close.

We let our hair down every once in awhile on the dark side. We can't be evil all the time.

Yeah, G&S already confirmed he'll be filming onsite at the live TableTop Day thing in Los Angeles. Totally understandable why he won't be there.
We'll see what happens. :) Who knows, I may end up stalking you, Jun, just because the friends of mine (and my wife) who are going to Wondercon won't be there on Fri - they have this pesky thing called WORK that they have to attend.

N/P! You'll just have to deal with the rest of my family along for the ride. But my daughter and I will be wearing FoCCI lanyards, if you want to look for us! :D
Yep, the WORK thing is a PITA. Fortunately I'm off that week, and the kids are off too (it's the start of their Spring break) so it's only DH that has to officially take a day off. The funny thing is that on Thursday he's officially working from home, but he'll actually be on his laptop and MiFi as we drive down to SoCal. ;D
Our Friday plan is to go to G&S and then see the Star Trek HD panel immediately after. We'll probably also see the Star Trek GEEK panel as well, along with the Bridge Restoration panel later on. Yep, it's Star Trek day at WonderCon, and Wil Wheaton isn't even going to be there! :-\
I'm thinking he might do a video conference type of participation for the Tabletop presentation on Sunday. That would be great!
-
For those WC attendees, that were thinking of giving Marvel and Lucas Films some money ( even thou they are MIA at the con) be careful of fake Disneyland tickets. Check out the article.

I won't be bothering with G&S this year if there's no WW :( Felicia Day is not enough.... And I also had a really bizarre experience with her last year at SDCC, anyone at the meetup feel free to ask me about it lol. Weird times!!
I'll probably go to the BSG panel even though I know they don't have anything new to announce and Galacticon is right around the bend. And then Star Trek GEEK and the Bridge Restoration panel (really excited about those!). I feel like there's something else I wanted to see on Friday but I'm at work and don't have the schedule in front of me.
-
I'd be curious to hear about your weird experience with Felicia Day...
-
Then you should ask me about it at the meetup on next Thursday if you're going ;)

Yeah...I don't get it. The buddy of mine who's going with me on Sat & Sun, he's totally got the hots for her. Me? I just don't see it, sorry. I GUESS she could be attractive, but not for my tastes. I hear she's a hell of an actor on The Guild, but I have not seen a single episode of it, so I couldn't tell you my honest opinion...
At any rate, I will try to look for you, Jun...I'll be wearing some of my artwork on Fri & Sat, either an Indiana Perry t-shirt, or my Daredevil Jeremy t-shirt (from Phineas & Ferb), with him perched on a stone platypus gargoyle head. :) If you see that in one of the panels being worn by a big fat bearded guy, yeah, that'll be me. :)

I'm not sure what I'll be wearing (just that it won't be cosplay because we will have come straight from Disneyland). But we'll be the blonde family who would recognize a Phineas & Ferb t-shirt. ;) I'll keep an eye out for you!
And Alyssa, I already said I'd be wearing my FoCCI lanyard!!!!!!

I pray I NEVER see the day some guy decides to dress as Slave Leia for a Con. Or if I do, I just HEAR about it, and not actually witness it.

It has happened enough times that there is a "Guys dressed as Slave Leia" Facebook page. There is even a Jack Sparrow Slave Leia pictured on it.

I'm new to this board (as of today) and wanted to know if anyone knew who would be signing and at what times at the DC booth. :)

Not hate, run your fingers thru it. You can always put some mouse in it. Some people have bieber hair on their head and others have it on their chest.

I'm looking forward to seeing your moussed Justin Bieber chest hair at WonderCon, Yzrfan! ;D

Us Wookies are people too....just with a little more fur.

Thanks for the info. Any news on the artists and writers of DC titles that will be at the DC Booth?
Typically that info won't be available until a lot closer to the con: like the week of. They'll have a schedule posted at their booth for the week, and will likely post a schedule on twitter or somewhere online Thursday or Friday of WonderCon. Last year I got Jim Lee's autograph at the DC booth with relative ease (compared to Comic-Con).
-
You can spot me, because I'll be cosplaying as slave Leia.......relax just playing.
I friend of mine did that in 2011
He made quite a splash on the Internet :D

All fun and games until everyone at work finds you on YouTube

Anyways, any more interesting news tidbits for WonderCon?
(Yes, that was my casual version of a hint, but if you want a more direct method, here you go: "Let's try to get back on topic! I mean, there are a few people interested in learning a few more tips or tricks for the convention, since it's not too far away. Let's try to help out, okay?)
-
Nope haven't heard anything.
-
Uhm....Shiftylook is having a panel on Bravoman, and the guy who does the voice of Perry the Platypus (that cricket noise), Dee Bradley Baker, will be there at the panel?
It's kinda on topic for what I was mentioning earlier, with Perry, and it's on a panel, and I just found out about this today? :) Is that good, Zero? :) LOL
I am wondering if anyone's heard if Mark Evanier will be selling his Jack Kirby biography - I'd love to pick it up and get it signed, if possible.
-
Don't forget DBB also did the voice of Rex and Cody from the Clone Wars.
-
Don't forget DBB also did the voice of Rex and Cody from the Clone Wars.
That is very true. :) Sadly, I haven't ever really watched Clone Wars. I tried to get into it, but never really could...
Oh! My ADD is kicking in - seeing as how we're going to be in the midst of Tabletop Day during Wondercon, and they're having panels about Tabletop, does anyone know if there will be any vendors selling board games there this year? I've tried looking through the exhibitors list, but it seems like unless I know what the name of the exhibitor is, I won't have the foggiest notion of what they're selling (especially when you have names like Hyperactive Monkey and Conduct Happiness, Inc.) until I get there and start wandering...
-
I'm sure they will have some. Last year they were selling the Walking Dead game.
-

I'm sure you'd be able to buy it, and I see him around all GE time. He's very approachable if you just ask politely for an autograph. I got his autograph on my Groo Chronicles I at the last WonderCon in SF.

I asked this question, also, on the official COMIC-CON page, but am posting it here, too:
In the newly released WONDERCON Quick Guide, it shows that there'll be an ANIMANIACS 20th Anniversary Panel on Saturday, March 30th. But, in the MYSCHED portion of the site, it's not listed.
So, will it be there or not? I am willing to skip the UNDER THE DOME preview just to attend ANIMANIACS panel. I LOVED that show! (Yakko and Wakko: "HELLO, NURSE!" Dot: "Boys.")

I'd probably go w/ the quick guide as it's the most "recent" release. MySched just might not have been updated yet.

Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere else, but they've announced some autograph signings for Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, The Conjuring and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones on Saturday morning. Some sort of ticket drawing or lines happening on Saturday morning at the Wondercon official booth... details on the main site here: http://www.comic-con.org/wca/2013/autographs/exhibitors

Interesting. I'm rather glad I don't care too much about getting any of those autographs. Bruce Campbell would be tempting had the boyfriend and I not met him last year.

Holy crap, really?! I can only hope there IS something...I already know Yakko's going to be at Wondercon for the Shiftylook panel, but if Jess Harnell and Tress MacNeil were to show up? My day would be MADE!
-
Interesting. I'm rather glad I don't care too much about getting any of those autographs. Bruce Campbell would be tempting had the boyfriend and I not met him last year.
Yeah, I'm with ya. While I'm intrigued about trying to get some autographed PACIFIC RIM swag, probably not enough to deal with autograph hounds. I got GdT's autograph on a CRONOS poster awhile back (and had the fortune of drinking pints & talking horror movies with him in 2004). And I got Bruce to autograph both his IF CHINS COULD KILL book & Bubba Ho Tep poster in 2005. Bruce is ALWAYS fun to chat with at conventions. In my experience the boisterous persona he conveys in front of large crowds is significantly toned down when chatting one-on-one: the few times I've met him he seemed almost boarder line shy!
FWIW I Bruce signed CHINS "Hail to the king, baby." I felt a little ashamed to ask him to sign that, as I kept picture Alan Rickman's character in GALAXY QUEST signing stuff and loathing having to say a corny catch phrase from a goofy TV show. I'm sure Bruce gets millions of requests like that. He was very nice and seems genuinely humble & cool about his B-movie stardom.

It's officially on the MYSCHED site. So, I'll be seeing you there!
(Oh, there's not detailed description yet, so can't be certain who will be there.)

I somehow get the impression that this may be a trial run for the live stage reunion thing set for next month. Either way, I'm so freaking happy! <fangirl>SQUEE!!!<fangirl</>

That would be cool

I'm trying to talk my wife into going to the Lovitz for the live stage reunion...That'll actually take place the day before my birthday, and I told her, "Hon, it would be an awesome birthday gift!"
Hell, I'd even pay for a hotel room and the tickets in - I just want to go see it!

Wondercon is my birthday gift from my boyfriend, since it's a few days before my birthday. I wish I could go to the live reunion. One of the many pains of living in Maryland. So far away from the awesome, lol.
-
That's cool.

I cannot view the list of "Special Limited Autograph" attendees on the WonderCon site. It says it's loading and I'm using both IE and Firefox. Does anyone have a soft copy or a link to view the list? Thanks!
-
When I looked at the list yesterday, it seemed like the regular group of people that do the signing circuit.
-
That's weird. So, how does everyone know that Bruce Campbell will be signing at the show? And who's all signing for Pacific Rim? I'm just curious, because I want to line up to get a wristband or whatever WonderCon is doing for those special signings.

Sometimes people will post on Twitter/FB/fan page before CCI updates.

For those of you planning on visiting the Disney Parks during WC, the crowds are still pretty heavy. This week and next week is Spring Break, besides WC. But don't worry too much, the weather at the parks today is great. It's in the mid 70's, sunny, and a slight breeze. Hopefully the weather should stay the same for next week.

This is why we're staying on site at Disney. We'll be entering the parks at 7 am and leaving 11 am - noon every day, just when the crowds start to skyrocket.
-
Just make sure you get anything carsland done first thing.

Awesome!!!! Thanks for the info!

Yeah, we've had some great weather this week! I'm chaperoning a trip with my wife (she's a middle school band director) & we'll be at Disneyland this weekend (we're Annual Passholders). I'm not super excited because it is fairly busy this time of year, but it's not as bad as the summer. Easter weekend is often a mixed-bag as far as crowds: some years it's been fairly light and some years it's been really crowded. Naturally, the better the weather the more crowds there are.
Again, though, it's nothing like the summer. And to be honest I'm spoiled when it comes to crowds, and often think waiting longer than 20 or so minutes for any ride is intolerable.
-
So far they are calling for some great weather next week. Yesterday it was about a 25 minute wait for most rides, well the ones my youngest wanted to go on.

Thats a big shift from last year when we were caught in the middle of a rainstorm! We spent hours and hours outside at Disneyland and walking to/from WonderCon in the pouring rain. Sun will be nice for a change!
-
A rain storm is a freak of nature in SoCal. Last week I already got my first sunburn of the year. Don't want to brag but it was a shorts and flip flops type of day yesterday and today.
-
Just saw on the toucan blog, CCI is expecting 3 day and Saturday badges to sell out. Don't know of it for real or they are trying to cause a frenzy for the badges.
-
Looks like Joss Whedon and the crew will be in attendance for the Much Ado panel on Sunday!!!
-
Super excited about this! I wish they were doing a signing--there are just so many excellent people in that lineup.
-
It's pretty awesome for WC!
-
That would be a real milestone if 3 day badges sold out!
-
Yes it would be. Has it ever sold out before the con started?
-

2011 I think. I know Saturday badges sold out then, not sure about three-day. That sell out wasn't until a day or two before hand though.
-
Copy that. Well sounds like its going to have a huge crowd this year. Too bad Marvel will be missing.
-
I hope it's not too packed. Last year was perfect IMO. I really only even had a hard time parking on Saturday, otherwise it was easy peasy.
I don't know if this has been talked about or I missed it, but is there no GOT panels at all? I didn't see one.... would have been nice considering season 3 starts on Sunday. I didn't expect any of the cast or anything, but something would have been nice.

Nope, no GoT. They didn't have one last year either.
-
All they had for GOT last year was the photo op.
-
oh and I just purchased a Friday badge for a friend and his son about 20 minutes ago and they were still offering all badges.

My weather app is saying rain on Friday, but Sunday and Sat should be clear. Funny how the only time it rains in SoCal is during WonderCon haha.
-
I hope they are wrong like always with our weather
-
I guess rain will become an annual WonderCon tradition! ;)
-
So far it's only 30 percent chance of rain.
-
Just checked the weather forecast for WC now they are say 30 percent chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday and Saturday it's going to be 70 and Sunday should be 67. I'm sure it will change again.

If it's anything like the San Francisco Bay Area, the forecast will change a couple of times a day!
-
I know, the only thing you can count on from the LA/OC weathermen is their fake tans glow more and more each day.
-
Fake tans... that tells you something right there! If a weatherman can't figure out when it's going to be sunny enough to get a real tan, there's something wrong with his skills.... ;)
-
Yes fake tans and really really bright white teeth
-
Went to go order a few more badges for some friends of mine, and was surprised to see this... BOTH Junior and Adult 3-Day badges have been sold out. CRAZY!

Wow. So I take it that's a first for WC.
-
That is crazy! I'm glad to see it, though.
-
Goodbye no waiting for panels :(
-
Goodbye no waiting for panels :(
I know!! ugh. I still lined up early on Saturday last year but the line was super short. Sounds like this year will be a bit more crowded. So glad I got my son's 3 day pass early.
Glad the Dark Horse comics info was useful. I've been trying to play catch up on posting over here. I'm trying to figure out the schedules now and it's getting hectic.
-
technically it's not sold out. just the $10 discount no longer available.
-

Which $10 discount?
-
Which $10 discount?
The $10 you save by buying a three day badge vs. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday badges individually. As of right now, all the days are individually available.
-
Wow. So I take it that's a first for WC.
I think that it sold out on Saturday in 2011. I could be wrong.
-
Ya transmute said she thought they did back then too. Looks like the bigger crowds this year.
-
New weather up date. Friday and Saturday good. Sunday 30 percent chance of rain. I'm sure it will change again tomorrow.
-
Ya transmute said she thought they did back then too. Looks like the bigger crowds this year.
I *think* it might have sold out on Saturday in 2011 during the show. I do know that at some point on Saturday afternoon they closed the Exhibit Floor, not letting anyone else in. I was there and didn't realize the Exhibit Hall was shut until we left and I saw all of the security at the doors.
-
Happy WC week!!
-
Any news yet as to which Comic Book Creators/Artists/Writers will be signing at the DC Booth?
-
It looks the Animaniacs panel (http://wonderconanaheim2013.sched.org/event/ad9a903ab7339496032691480ef24c5e#.UVDMI5WMnIU) has been canceled.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I was really psyched for it! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
That was quick to cancel.
-
A lot of panels are getting cancelled, is this normal for WC? I didn't really pay too much attention to last years WC panels.
-

The rate of cancellations seem normal to me.
-
Who else canceled?
-
Marjorie Liu and Gerard Way/the Killjoys comic panel. The latter isn't exceptionally surprising given that My Chemical Romance JUST broke up.
-
Oh. That's not too bad.
-
Alex Pardee will be signing on Saturday, just saw it on my IG feed. I love his work but I already have a bunch of signed stuff, this would be a great opportunity for someone else though!
-
Just heard there is a 5k run at angel stadium on Saturday! If you're thinking of parking there you might want to check the time it starts and leave a lot early.

Yeah, I woke up and read that on Twitter. Nice way to have my heart broken first thing in the morning.

The Boris Vallejo/Julie Bell panel was cancelled last week as well. Rare to see a panel with official "Special Guests" get pulled so close to the show.
-
So far it's 2 panels that have been canceled?

Wil wheaton's panel was cancelled last year when he was a spotlight panelist. Kinda sucks that these things happen, but sometimes things change...
-
Saturday passes are now sold out.
-
Wow
-
My Easter Sunday will be busy
Pickup aunts from Santa Monica and Downtown LA , drive them to my other aunt's place in Garden Grove (about 5 blocks from Anaheim convention center, go to Wonder Con, stop at my aunt's for some Easter ham and drive my others aunts back to LA and Santa Monica
Fun , Fun, Fun
-
Mondo will be there:
If you are attending WonderCon this weekend, come to Booth #576 and say hello. We will be releasing a few new posters, as well as selling some Archived prints, and maybe hosting a signing or two. Below is a handy map with our booth location.
-
Ooooo, I always enjoy the mondo booth
-
Wow
-
We still have 2 more days for Friday to sell out. I'm starting to get all giddy like its SDCC Eve.
-

LOL, I'm getting excited too! It's like the SDCC warmup... :D
-
We need to make SDCC Eve a new holiday!
-
And now the are say 50 percent chance of rain Sunday afternoon, so Friday and Saturday should be dry.
-
I may pay more attention to the weather forecast when I'm packing tomorrow... ;)
-
Today is a nice day down here. It started off alittle foggy but now sunny and warm
-

Warm, but not hot. I love living in So CA 8)
-
I guess it's ok considering half of the continental US had snow the past couple day. Others had snow while I wore flip flops.
-
Just saw a photo of the WC Staff badges and they look awesome. It's the Jim Lee man o steel from the program. I hope the attendees look better then last years.
-
The front of the convention center is advertising Hannibal the new TV show. I snapped this on the way to eat at Garden Walk. Had a bacon cheeseburger at Johnny Rockets. Not bad. I hope I'm attaching this pic right... :o

-
That's new, they didn't really have anything outside the convention center besides the banners. Which they also put up today.

My excitement has gone into overdrive.
Also: Jessica Nigri, LeeAnna Vamp and Doomkitty announced they'll be at the GardenWalk on Friday night from 8-9 taking pictures and having raffles and doing fun stuff. I'll be there hah.
-
They had some banners last year.
-
Today's weather check says no rain for this weekend. The highs will be in the upper 60's to low 70's.

Pretty cold in the mornings for awhile until maybe 10ish this week.
-
In prep for the BSG Panel, BBC is doing a BSG marathon now until the Doctor Who marathon starts at midnight. Yes it's been a little cool in the mornings for us from SoCal, but not too bad.
-
Here's an article about WC done by the LA Times.

-
Yep the hourly forecast says it will be in the 50s and low 60s while we're tooling around Disneyland in the mornings, and in the 70s all afternoon when we're sitting in panels! ;)
-
They had some banners last year.
I know, but other than that they didn't have anything outside of the convention center.
-
True, things get better the sophomore year!
-
Just got an email from Comic-Con International. They're asking those with WonderCon passes to please print out BOTH pages of your confirmation email. And, they can not scan from your cell phones or tablets, IPODS, etc.
I had only printed out one page before, so this helped me out!
-
They've been posting pictures of the setting up going on right now on the Toucan Blog. It looks really promising. This picture got me extra gitty.

I just pulled up so after I park and walk to badge pick up I'll ask them about it. Any other questions you want me to ask? Was going to also ask if you can pick up sat badges on fri.
-
Can you ask them if returned sat badges will be on sale ?
Never mind someone posted that badges have been going on sale periodically threw out the day yesterday

Will do

I must have just missed you Yzerfan...had my nose in my IPad! Damn social media! I was working on my GoT coat of arms. :)
-
They said they might sell some badges tomorrow for sat, and they will give out badges only on the days you go.
-
It's ok. Had to bring my 3 year old at the last minute. Ill be in line around 10:30 or so.
-
They said they might sell some badges tomorrow for sat, and they will give out badges only on the days you go.
Uh, oh, I told ppl. on WONDERCON'S FB page that Saturday passes were sold out and none would be on sale in person. Oops!
-
All you need is a print out of the email with your barcode to get your badge

Well, even CCI said they were sold out on Twitter.

I just checked the line to get on the exhibit floor (it's at the end if lobby A) and there's about 12-15 peeps in line. There is a possibility that they will open early at 11:00 according to a person in line and a security person I talked to. Not definite but possible.

Good to know. I think I will not hang out in line. I will wait for the main doors to open.
-
Line for entrance is about 40 people long.
Badge pick up few hundreds. Arena no line.
Weather overcast
Time for a shower now.
-
Is everyone in line already? I'm about 15 out and then need to hike from Disney parking structure. Anyone want to get a cup or a pint before doors open?

You should take the Mickey and Friends tram to Downtown Disney then walk to Harbor, it'll be quicker.
-
Ill go down Disney way. Don't want to deal with the bag search. Made it from downtown Disney parking to con in about 15 pushing a stiller yesterday. I'm solo cholo today so should be there in about the same.
-
I'm in line already...it was forming fast and I didn't want to end up standing in the sun. Red shirt and lanyard. ;)
-
I'm in line with rando. Look for us.
-
Copy just parked so starting the hike in a minute.
-
It's going to be an awesome day

Tried to find the end of the line to go in, and I realized I have NO idea where the end is! I'm tempted to go back to the Hilton lobby and draw for another 15 min until the line dies down a bit...
-
How's it going for everyone? Scored IDW, dark horse, and sky bound exclusives. Waiting at boom for regular show #1 to be released.
-
Got my t-shirts and the WC Justice League comic and I'm in the Battlestar Galactica panel waiting for Geek & Sundry panel after.
-
walking the floor
-
living vicariously
-
Currently in the BSG panel, probably going to go walk the floor and get a snack at 1:30.... Man that line to get in was nuts! I think I walked the length of the convention center 3x just to get in!
If anyone wants to say hi, I'm in a grey hoodie and side ponytail again. Big pink bunny earrings and a grey backpack :)

-
Ok, I'll look for it! Can't post that pic for some reason lol
-
Lines are feeling very much like SDCC now. No more small con feeling. Ran into kappo a couple times after the madness started. Rando is still MIA after the mad rush.
-
Just heard today is sold out too. So only day left is Sunday.
-
Finally made it here
-
Cool. We are all scattered about the floor.
-
somewhat surprized Sprzout or Yzrfan haven't hunted you down yet....
I was certainly trying to find him, but the crowds have been crazy.
I am finishing up the Quick draw panel right now, and I'll probably go down to the food trucks to get a bite to eat (if anyone wants to hunt me down)
-
Well, I feel like an idiot but I can't find the 700 row so I can't find the booth you're at. I've asked 3 people and have been walking around for a hot minute, I give up lol! I'm going to take a breather in this little outside area in between rows 800 and 500.
-
700 is IDW they have the big IDW banner over head.
-
I just checked out the room for Dr Who and its small , at least too small for Dr Who Fans, I think I'll be keeping my Nerdist tickets
-
anyone going to the "how to build a R2" at 4:30? it's in room 213
-
Ok I found the IDW booth, I was on the wrong side of the room! I don't know if you're still here or not though. I took off my hoodie cause its toasty in here, but you can spot me in a constellation shirt purple shoes under the B1 pillar next to the IDW booth.
-

-
I'm hungry and thirsty
-
Ok - Geek moment alert!!
I literally bumped into Felicia Day today...I was on the floor and she was walking past some booths to go to the back of the convention center, and I turned and bumped into her.
I said, "Oh! Sorry!...Felicia." (The last bit was added when I realized who it was)
And no, I did not chase after her like a rabid fan or anything - I let her go on her day with a smile from a fat bearded dude. :-)
-
lanyard still available! will be on floor til abt 6 then panel then home.
-
Give me a clue where you're at please. Coming from AA
-
Where are you guys?!

Lines are feeling very much like SDCC now. No more small con feeling. Ran into kappo a couple times after the madness started. Rando is still MIA after the mad rush.
My feet were still beat from the parks yesterday so I went from Geek & Sundry to the WB TV screenings in the Arena. It was pretty chill in there, the AC was pumpin'! Anyhoo took a spin around the floor and now heading up to my room to dump my stuff.
-

No kidding! Last year I was thinking WonderCon felt like Comic-Con 2000. This year WonderCon feels like Comic-Con 2006 or so. More/longer lines, more people, etc. Still fun times, but a little surprised

What's the name of that show again? They filmed a bunch of stuff with my eleven year old son today: he walked up to one of the guys who was unpacking a box, and eagerly wanted to help the guy unpack the toys. The producer thought it was funny, and told him to ask again only at a better angle, and then continued to film as my kid and one of the workers chatted toy collecting for about 15 minutes.
Afterwards I spent a bit of time singing a bunch of legal paperwork for consent of them using our images on TV

Toy Hunters, right?
that's what yzrfan told me

I had tons of fun today but didn't see any FoCCI lanyards, even though I was in the same places as you guys! We went into BSG about halfway through and got center, 4th row for Geek & Sundry. My Daughter was the first person to ask a question, about playing Redshirts on Tabletop. Then we stuck around for the ST: HD panel afterward. Sprzout, I looked for you at both panels (especially after G&S cleared out and not many people were left) but did not see anyone in a Phineas & Ferb shirt.
Apparently there were a lot of people in line for Geek & Sundry who never got in. I have to say though, that room was much smaller than I thought it would be!
After the HD panel, we went around the floor. We earned free bags at Wii for trying out the games, and Yzrfan, we were in the same line at 5pm for the signed Star Wars comic! If you had had a FoCCi lanyard on I would have seen you, because I was scanning everyone in line for it! Then we went to Lion Force, but all 4 of us lost out and got the leg band instead of the bag.
Tomorrow we'll be at Revolution and Mortal Instruments and Under The Dome. I'll be wearing my lanyard again, along with my new Geek & Sundry lanyard!
-
I don't know my plans for tomorrow. Maybe revolution. I will have spikey hairs brown overalls and red shirt. Wearing this forum lanyard.
-
I definitely feel like the 3rd floor panel rooms are being under-utilized. I couldn't believe the size of the crowd today. Last year's Friday event was nothing in comparison.
-
Are the third floor panel rooms larger?
It definitely felt like some of the stuff today was in rooms that were more than slightly undersized (I missed making it into Star Trek vs. Star Wars by four or five people :'(). I didn't try for the Doctor Who screening (I still need to actually finish the first half of season seven), but the reports on twitter made it all seem very, very insane.
It's making me fairly nervous for tomorrow/Sunday. Pacific Rim and Much A Do are my number one priorities and unfortunately, I'm probably not going to be able to get in line as early as I'd like for either (if there's a WonderCon Anaheim next year, I'll definitely be considering getting a room).
-
They Doctor Who screening was actually quite fine. We arrived at 6 to get into the panel before and they were using the room next door to line up. The place was filled and about 90% in that line made it in. Also they had an encore showing after the orphan black premiere. I thought that was really awesome of them.

I was in the corner seat in the last row on the left side for BSG then moved up towards the middle for G&S. Does your hubby have glasses? I saw a blonde family of four I think come in during BSG but I couldn't see the lanyard. I did hear the redshirt question from your daughter, from their response I don't think they had heard of the game (neither did I :-[ ). I left G&S a little early to go to the WB screenings. Maybe I'll see you guys tomorrow. I'll probably be at the Revolution panel (the screening was awesome especially the part... ;D just kidding I won't spoil I for you!) I'll be wearing my Hannibal, FoCCI, and green G&S lanyards and my green G&S wristband to boot. Hmmm...with all those lanyards no wonder people couldn't find me! :P
-
Had a great time today, but my feet are hating me for it. Made the mistake of going back to my truck to take a break, but passed out instead. The small con feeling is gone, it's more like SDCC Light. It was great meeting kappo, Rando, and Jim today. Bummed I missed out Jun, Chris, khan, and funky. Tomorrow is another day. I spent most of my day between IDW, Dark Horse, and Boom. Still need to see the other half of the floor. Thought I would save a couple bucks with my free parking at Disneyland, but the hike back after being on my feet all day sucked. Tomorrow is family day, so if you see some tattooed freak pushing a teal umbrella stroller with two blonde hair blue eyed girls say Hi. Ya I look like I just got out of prison, but I'm the complete opposite ( I put people there). Hope to see everyone else tomorrow for day 2.
-
I had a pretty good day today overall, both Star Trek panels were pretty rad- better than the ST panels at last years WC. And holy crap! The museum in the works with the guy from the bridge restoration looks so fun. Hall of robots!! There is nothing you can say that makes "Hall of Robots" not sound awesome.
I'm not going tomorrow (which I totally regret) but I might come on Sunday. It was great meeting you yesterday Rando. Sorry I didn't run into anyone today, I would have loved to meet you guys. Next time :)
-

I unfortunately didn't make it in to the G&S panel, so I went to the Quick Draw panel instead. It worked out for me, and I still got to see Felicia Day on the floor when I bumped into her. :-)
My wife will be wearing a Phineas & Ferb/Doctor Who mash up shirt today, and I will be wearing a Silver Smurfer shirt (I am going to try to get my Indiana Perry shirt signed by Dee Bradley Baker, who makes the platypus noise, but no guarantees on that).
My plans are:
Shiftylook Bravoman panel at 11, Cartoon Voices at 2:30, cartoon design for Kids at 4, and Under The Dome if I can get in.
-
It was so cool meeting you at badge pickup Thursday funkybutton, the first person I met from he forum! You should definitely come on Sunday, it was a little hectic yesterday and I wish I had tried to look a little harder for lanyards and Friends yesterday while I was on the floor and in panels...
Kappolo and Yzerfan it was great hangin' out in line with "the cool kids" (as Yzerfan called us). ;) Hope to see you guys and other FoCCI members today!
-
On my way back up for day 2.
-
Today's variant con attire is a black alpine star hat and two girls
-
They are already letting peeps into the line area inside...
-
Copy that. Waiting to turn onto katella
-
got here about 8:10 in good spot for the arena I don't think the line that long
-
Parking wasn't bad right now. Walking up now.
-
And WC doesn't let strollers in the wheel chair line. Guess we can only use that trick for SDCC.
-
Now the line is in the second group of stalls. Only an hour and 20 minutes until doors open

Today's game of Where's Waldo/Khaaaaaaanh for a Friends of CCI lanyard will be in black shorts, a white button up shirt, a charcoal hoodie, flip flops, blue backpack, baseball cap turned backwards (Washington Nationals - red W) and a the FoCCI lanyard. Find me and it's yours (if you ask for it!). If I find and recognize you first, you don't win. ;)
My tentative schedule will be the floor, then Pacific Rim and probably Revolution panel followed by more floor wandering. I don't stay in any one place long enough to say where I am so keep your eyes peeled.
I will also have bags of gummy bears in my backpack.
-
I just woke up. I'm gonna enter when the front doors open. Hopefully see you inside. Cheers.
-
Dude ill just buy it from you. Less then 30 minutes till floor opens
-
Dude ill just buy it from you. Less then 30 minutes till floor opens
Yzerfan I have my extra lanyard up in my room so if you don't find Khaaaaaaanh!!! Waldo find me and it's yours for mañana. I'm in the graphite designs line for the batman and robin aardman exclusives right now. :)
-
Waiting in the arena line. Got here around 9:30 and the line is pretty smallish (and indoors - woohoo). Zero line/waiting to get into the center, so much smoother than yesterday.
Had a lot of fun Friday, though we didn't stay super long. My son had a meager amount of spending money and onc it was gone (all on comics) he was ready to leave.
Hyped for PACIFIC RIM panel: hoping to see giant robots duking it out with giant monsters!

Entering the expo right now. Look for spike hair

Okay I'm in line for the arena also two rows from A2 Yzerfan. I have the extra lanyard (dumped my exclusives in my room just now). Red and black Hawaiian shirt, black ball cap with blue X. :D
-
Cooy
-
met rando!
-
Thanks for the lanyard Rando. Cool meeting you kahn
-
Just need to meet trans and funky. I'm no longer incognito
-
Good luck for adventure time. The room is already packed of people for that panel
-
IPad is slow so switching to the phone but yeah met Khaaaaaaanh!!! So cool to put faces to members. In a pretty good spot for the revolution panel in the arena first row in second section of seats on the floor in the middle.
-
Tried to take a picture of Stan Lee and almost got attacked by security staff
-
It crazy today
-
Jim lee line looks like hall h line on twilight day
-
After Star Wars signing at 3 was going to venture to Disneyland for more walking. Anyone heading over?
-
No Disney for me. Viz media panel next
-
Cool.
-
Feel like a Sherpa will all my goodies from the day..... More like my kids goodies.
-
security here means business. lady snapped a random pic during mortal instruments trailer and immediately got kicked out. 6 seats in 4th row freed up. ouch.
-
Yah, saw two security jump on a girl who they thought took a pic of the Pacific Rim trailer and they escorted her out back with her phone. It must have not been too serious of a violation since after the panel she was back in her seat, her friends giving her a hard time for "getting in trouble". I decided to go back to the hotel for a late lunch poolside but I'll probably try to get back for Hannibal and maybe a little Masquerade.
-
so....how'd the pacific rim panel compare to the sdcc pacific rim panel?
-
Hate to say it, but WC kicked my butt.
-
When will people learn that they take the whole "No recording of video/footage allowed" seriously?
-
Lines are shorter at Disneyland then at WC. Speaking of the whole recording thing, I can see CCI taking a play out of disney's play book and taking all devices during panels/screenings.
-
so....how'd the pacific rim panel compare to the sdcc pacific rim panel?
thought wc was way better. longer. badass scene where the robot swings a battle ship at the monster. no cast only del toro but better footage only being shown here and something in Vegas.
-
When will people learn that they take the whole "No recording of video/footage allowed" seriously?
yup. just stupid move on her part. wasn't even anything worth taking a picture of.
-
someone on the Wonder con facebook page lost their Ipad...they're pretty broken up. If anyone sees an ipad please turn it in to lost & found located in the Anaheim Convention Center Security Office behind Lobby A.
-
anyone planning to go to masquerade ball? sitting along wall near a1 chilling right now. no reception inside arena.
-
I'm planning to line up at 730 for the masquerade.
I just met grant imahara

thought wc was way better. longer. badass scene where the robot swings a battle ship at the monster. no cast only del toro but better footage only being shown here and something in Vegas.
yeah, the WonderCon trailer upped the badass quotient by about 1000%. It was significantly longer, and it kind of filled in the gaps between the SDCC trailer & theatrical trailer (as far as a little emotional heft of fallen partner of pilot/jaeger + a TON more action). Del Toro said the FX are about 85% done, so there was a lot of jaeger/kaiju footage. While the robot swinging an ocean liner as if it were a small club at a gigantic monster was my favorite sequence of the trailer (it showed the robot dragging along a huge city street, picking it up, and teeing up on the monster's face!), the 'money shot' of the trailer was a jaeger sort of making a huge "clap" with a kaiju's face in between the jaeger's two-fisted 'clap.' It looked like there was some kaiju 'carnage' that the monster shakes off and then snarls back at the camera. I literally watched the theatrical trailer not long after getting home, and while it's still pretty rad it REALLY feels lacking in comparison!
-
When will people learn that they take the whole "No recording of video/footage allowed" seriously?
To be fair, security was really hard corps, especially first thing in the morning in the arena (i.e. during the first WB panel). During the CONJURING footage, a film that my eleven year old son had no desire (or, honestly, sensibility) watching, he tried to turn on a 1st gen iPad to play a game (Temple Run2) to distract himself. A security guy quickly swooped down and asked him to shut off the device and come with him: I quickly jumped up and said that the device was an iPad w/zero recording capabilities and hastily explained that my 11 year old and I weren't aware that an R-rated horror/thriller movie was going to screen footage before PACFIC RIM (which, oddly enough, ratings-be-damned my son is INCREDIBLY stoked for - long story short about that = my son explained that knowing monsters were in a movie as "cannon-fodder" for robot ass kicking he's 100% cool with scary monsters. Anyway...)
My point is, without knowing the full story it's kinda not cool to jump on someone for what may or may not have been stupidity of recording footage.

The footage would obviously be better since its farther along in production but I don't think it matched the wow factor that SDCC had when the curtains rolled back to reveal more screen in hall h

Lines are shorter at Disneyland then at WC.
Really?! I didn't stick around WC too long today, but when I checked Disneyland wait times were pretty crazy. Granted, I'm an Annual Passholder, so if a major ride is, like, 40 min. or longer wait I think's it's too long. Also, I didn't think any WonderCon lines were crazy today. I walked right into the exhibit hall & in line for the arena at 9:30ish. I was surprised how not-long the line for the arena was after the long line yesterday to get into the exhibit hall.
Oddly enough, the person waiting in front of me was a CCI employee, who said she was normally the one in charge of line stuff! She said she wanted to get into lines, hang out with attendees and see what it's like (and she was getting lots of light-hearted smack from her co-workers for waiting :P ) and observe how things were running. I'm kind of a shy one, and had an eleven year old to entertain/talk with and didn't really talk to her much until we were walking into the arena. I only learned of her position when she recited the "no running" spiel almost verbatim; I joked that she said that like a pro, or something, and she kind of laughed and revealed what her job was. Funny, and interesting! She didn't say what her specific job was, but any CCI employee jumping into the trenches to see how things are working logistically (as opposed to observing from afar, so to speak) is awesome!
Speaking of the whole recording thing, I can see CCI taking a play out of disney's play book and taking all devices during panels/screenings.
I can't fathom how that would work logistically, especially in rooms as large as Hall H, or the arena. This practice might work for smaller rooms, but this would especially be a cluster when someone might be occupying Hall H all day, even "after-hours" panels that start & end after many workers leave (i.e. after the exhibit hall closes) had to track down their iPad, phone, and laptop! They do this often at the screenings throughout the week, and even for a few hundred people it is almost a nightmare.
-

Hmm, I think I hafta disagree a bit. I think the WonderCon crowd seemed quite a bit more subdued that SDCC crowd (at least for that WB panel). Rolling back the curtains in Hall H was cool, and that first glimpse of footage from a movie that is seemingly taylor-made for the Comic-Con/WonderCon attendee brought the buzz, for sure. I think, at the very least, del Toro significantly upped the ante with the WonderCon footage.
Like you said, it's been eight months since SDCC & a TON of footage now has complete CGI so that means a lot more shots of jaeger vs kaiju beat downs, so maybe the comparison of "was it better" isn't fair: it's sorta like saying "DEATHLY HALLOWS part 2" is a better movie than Part 1, knowing part 2 has all of the awesome action beats + character moments and emotional resolve.
-
To be fair, security was really hard corps, especially first thing in the morning in the arena (i.e. during the first WB panel).
My point is, without knowing the full story it's kinda not cool to jump on someone for what may or may not have been stupidity of recording footage.
Also, if someone recorded PACIFIC RIM trailer footage I will kiss you if you post it :P
Actually kinda liked the security presence. No funny business. All in suits. Lots of badge checkpoints. Entering the floor, then getting into the first door to arena and then into the arena.
-
Okay... I know I shouldn't expect much in terms of swag (especially since the freebie I remember most last year was Naruto Teriyaki being served at a food truck outside) but did anyone get anything cool? I saw nothing pretty much.
-
The presence was good, but they still need a little help with line organization.
-

Yeah, I didn't really mean to imply that being hard corps was necessarily a bad thing. They're just doing their jobs, and if they want to be super quick to jump on anyone they feel breaks rules so be it.
What do you mean about badge checkpoints? I assume you mean just people checking for WonderCon badges (not checking ID's w/badges)? I didn't really notice any intense presence of badge checking: I honestly thought it was a lot more relaxed than SDCC

Hope everyone had a great day 2

Rando, yes that was us you saw going into BSG (my husband has glasses). Sorry we missed you!
Funkybutton we were at the Enterprise Bridge panel too. My kids were the ones asking all the nosy questions. ;)
Again today I didn't see any FoCCI lanyards even though I was in some of the same places as you guys. We went into the Arena during Pacific Rim (loooong story short, it took us ages to figure out how to get into the arena and then again to find a seat) and stayed for Revolution and Mortal Instruments. Then we wandered the floor and went to dinner before coming back to Under The Dome.
We stood in a couple of lines for minimal time, but very few. The only panel I heard of people not getting in was Geek & Sundry yesterday.
Not too much swag here. Bags and puzzles from Wii, comics from DC and Dark Horse, plus lanyards from Dark Horse. G&S lanyards with buttons. Oh and those lion force leg bands. They let us have some of the extra silver coins too.

The WonderCon footage was wayyy better than the SDCC footage, but I agree the WB panel at SDCC last year pretty much killed every other panel. For the Sony Pictures panel the crowd was definitely louder, especially when Bruce came out. It was like the panties came off and the party began. I am digging the Arena over Hall H to be honest. Not a bad seat in the house, and a much, much, MUCH better sound system. Those floors (especially on the platforms idk what they are called, the portable ones that connect the 2nd level to the ground) were shaking like crazy.

Tomorrow I will be easier to spot. I will be toy story alien. Look for a round light green head.

Was wearing the lanyard. I would have to leave the Dark Horse, DC, and we love fine lines to be seen.

When will people learn that they take the whole "No recording of video/footage allowed" seriously?
I feel like this really needs to be amended to no electronics out during trailers. With security the way it is, that's pretty much what it's actually like and while there are plenty of people who do try and record stuff, I'm sure there's an equally large amount who just don't get that security will jump on you if they think you have anything that could record audio/video out.

Good luck and have fun today. Have to sit today out, because of the whole Easter thing.

Well, the line for Much Ado is already past the Hilton. It started at about 6:30 with 25ish people.

I am in the car leaving Anaheim. We left after the talkback panel. I didn't see any other FoCCI lanyards there, so I will report.
The guy hosting the panel was the President of CCI, sorry, I forgot his name. Roger something? There was plenty of opportunity to give feedback. Everyone was accommodated.
Everyone said they had a great time and many people, including myself, said that this was the best WonderCon ever. I said that although I was obviously attending WonderCon in Anaheim, I would prefer it to be in San Francisco. However I was the only one. Many other people were Anaheim locals and said they preferred it there. It was clear that after 2 years there are now some roots in Anaheim. One person suggested alternating cities every year, which I think would be a fair solution. CCI stated that as of now they have no venue, no date, no nothing for WonderCon next year, and everything is a toss up. So it looks like once again it is going to come down to who offers the best dates and space.
The biggest legitimate complaints were about parking and how the traffic cops directing traffic had no idea what was going on. I guess parking filled up early and was a mess. I don't know because we walked in every day. I suggested putting signs up outside the arena to direct people where to go to enter, because it was very confusing, especially for people approaching the convention center from the arena's direction. CCI told me they chose the one entrance inside the Exhibit Hall so they could have an inside lineup, in case it rained. Inconvenient in terms of entrance, but that made sense to me.
I had to roll my eyes at the number of people who came up and complained about Saturday selling out. The guy from CCI politely pointed out that this only happened about a week before the Con, but somehow the complainers felt that it was still CCI's fault that they couldn't get Saturday tickets. Sigh. A few people also complained about the difficulty of getting SDCC badges.
Interestingly, CCI said that the reason there were no resales of refunded badges for WonderCon was because that ticket vendor immediate put refund badges back into the saleable inventory.
So there's the scoop!

Yeah, the sound in the arena kinda blew me away! I agree that I like the Arena much more than Hall H. While we had good seats for the WB panel, while I was scanning the arena before the panel started and it really looked like being last row upper deck would still be pretty awesome seats (the upper deck/non-floor seats looked pretty 'steep' from the stage so it wouldn't seem as far away). I feel like this summer Hall H will definitely feel lacking compared to the arena.
I totally agree that the crowd was a bit subdued during the WB panel, but it wasn't for lack of ass kicking footage. I think it's not 10% fair to compare the SDCC WB panel with the WC panel. The SDCC panel featured a TON of star power from several super buzz worthy movies (MAN OF STEEL, HOBBIT, etc). Going on just the footage alone the WC Pacific Rim footage blows the SDCC trailer away by a lot. For atmosphere, the crowd was better at SDCC.

I was able to park really close every day by ignoring the parking signs. I would go into the Morton's parking lot and follow some small signs for event parking for 20 dollars , the parking was the back lot of the Sheraton hotel which right next to Hilton and the food trucks. Most of the signs on the street were directing people away from the convention center to the off site parking where you had to walk several a blocks

Saturday my Samwise Gamgee and I arrived at the convention center a bit before 7am, followed the signs that led us to convention center parking off of Katella. Entrance was locked, so we waiting in the left hand turn lane for about 10 minutes. When they did open, they didn't have booth personnel yet so no one around to collect payment. So hey! Free parking on Saturday! Bought breakfast at IHOP across the street ^-^
-
I found the parking to be easy on Saturday, but I did arrive an hour and 45 minutes early. On Friday I did park in the Mickey and Friends structure. The parking was easy, but I did make for a walk painful walk at the end of the day.

LOL, try staying on Disney property! We walked back and forth between the parks and the Con twice a day!

My feet are right there with yours. At least you didn't have to get out of a truck after the hike, and then a 30 minute drive home. Just enough for my legs and feet to cramp up.
-
I had an ok time this year. It was crazier than last year, and my wife was grumpy after half a day at the convention center.
I had wanted to get there on Saturday by 11 so I could attend the Shiftylook panel, but I was stuck in Santa Ana buying a car until almost 1. By the time I got back to the hotel and walked back to the convention center, we had enough time to grab something to eat and hit up Cartoon Voices.
I missed Rob Paulsen at the panel, but luckily, I did get to meet him at the Shiftylook panel and gave him a donation for Operation Smile, which he works with. The man was so kind and so nice to me, and made my wife laugh with his voicing of Pinky.
I did not run into anyone from FoCCI (although my eyes were peeled for lanyards), and it seems nobody spotted me either...oh well. Guess I'll just have to wait until July!
-
Hi All. Jumping in way late on this but I've been on vacation and it's taken me a few days to recover from all of it. Anyways I'm so impressed how you all were constantly communicating and updating via this board. So cool. Wish I had joined the adventure! I was only there on Friday and did not stay too long. I got there about 30 minutes before opening and saw a crazy long line but it moved quick and I got in the convention early and fast enough to buy my wants. From there I actually went home, picked up my 80 year old dad and my daughters and nephew and came back just in time for the My Little Pony signing at the IDW booth at 3 pm. Got my girls their comics signed and the MLP artists were nice enough to do a basic sketch for them. From there just did a little walking and shopping ... so so happy booth, picked up the free Nintendo bag for trying out some games, and met and bought a vintage R2 figure from the Toy Hunter himself Jordan Hembrough. Got a nice pic with him. After that, the kids and my dad were done so we left for home around 6 pm or so. It was a very nice all be it brief time there, was considering going back on Saturday or Sunday but got too busy with visiting family and such.
I will say, it was way more crowded this year than in any of the past 6 years, including last year in Anaheim. I had read that 3 days and Saturday badges were sold out and then I understand Friday sold out too. It's getting scary.
Transmute - Way to represent about bring WC back to the Bay Area. Sorry I wasn't there to back you up. I would stood up and cheered!! Every other year would be OK and at this point may be the best scenario because as crowded and popular as this year seem to be in Anaheim, I'm sure CCI made more money and was happy. Why come back to a smaller venue that I'm sure cost more to rent? Right now, the only thing we got going is history and tradition, hopefully that will be worth something to CCI. If not, I guess I'll be planning another trip for Anaheim next year too.

It's good to know that someone would have supported me! I'm not surprised that there were more pro-Anaheim people though. They're locals! I would have expected the opposite had the show been in SF! It's a tough call to say if it *should* go back though. Clearly the last 2 WonderCons have been the best ever, but would that have been true if they had been held in SF? IMHO part of the reason WonderCon is so much bigger, with so much more variety, is because there is increased interest from attendees, which in large part derives from the difficulty of getting badges to SDCC. So I think there's a good argument to be made that the show would be equally successful in SF, in terms of attendees and offerings. Remember, there were a couple of sellout days in SF before the show ever moved to Anaheim. It was big here too.
But FWIW, we enjoy going to Anaheim for Disneyland, so to combine that with a trip to WonderCon makes an ideal (although exhausting) trip. I don't think we'd go down *just* for WonderCon, but having the two makes it a fun getaway. So yeah, we'll be attending next year, no matter where it's located.

As a SoCal resident, this is how I feel about WC in San Francisco. Awesome, but not enough to justify the expense of hotels + transit on its own. Really hoping we get two WonderCons next year (since CCI seems very determined to finally make their way back to SF).
-
See, I'd be quicker go to San Fran than LA for WonderCon. I want to go to LA but I'd rather not have it tied to a Con, that way I have plenty of time to do whatever it is I wanted to do.

The real question is, if they have 2 WonderCons in 2014, will we go to both?
And the answer is... maybe. I'd say more than 50% chance...

If I lived out there, I would.

If I lived out there, I would.
I have a feeling that's what we'll end up doing, especially seeing as we wouldn't have to travel (not counting BART ride into the city) for WonderCon SF.
-
It might depend on the different guests and stuff but I'd probably go at least one day just for Artist Alley.

We here in Orange County don't like being lumped in with LA. ;)
Space the events in the spring and the fall and far enough apart and people will go.
-
It depends what time of the year they are and how close they will be to SDCC. My wallet can't take all the cons.

LA is the dirty step brother of the OC.

But, you like our liberals. ;)
As an L.A. resident, I'd just go to the Anaheim one only, as I wouldn't have to get a hotel room.
Besides, there's still COMICAZE and BENT*CON (for LGBT) in L.A.
-
Hopefully comikaze will be better this year.

I could and probably would since both are "relatively" convenient for me. I live 15-20 minutes from Moscone and my entire family lives in SoCal and specifically my sister lives in Irvine, also about 15-20 minutes from Anaheim Convention Center. So to me it would come down to what was being offered in terms of programming, exclusives and other events at Wondercon Anaheim. Since I live so close to Wondercon San Francisco, I'd go even if the offering's were skimpy. There in lies my only concern, with 2 Wondercons and Comic Con, would that create less attractive cons in themselves? Would the corporations and companines be willing to commit assets to 3 cons? Even WC Anaheim was lacking some big vendors (Marvel, Gentle Giant, etc.) and hollywood presence. Somewhere along the line I did post that the only scenario I see that might work is having one of the Wondercons happen in the mid/late fall to capitalize on the "holiday season" with shopping and there's always those handful of "big" movies that come out around Thanksgiving (Hunger Games, etc.). If they could get the committments of those fall movies and maximize "holiday" shopping by offering "cool exclusives to buy for your spouse, child, etc. for the holidays" maybe it could work.
CCI, go ahead and give it a shot. Why not? 3 day, Saturday and Friday sold at this WC and obviously SDCC sold out in minutes, it appears the demand should be there. Just be sure to make it quality and not just another convention for the sake of having one because people will come.

I'm still interested in what the new galactic empire (Disney) has in store for D23. Lets not forget they fired 150 people from Lucas Arts and pulled an Alderaan on the company this week.

Disneyland Cast Members get free badges/heavily discounted (at least at the last one they did), so if you know a CM, i'd go that route.

The past two D23 they had to force cast members to go. I'm just complaining about, but I'll man up and get them soon. It sucks having it so close to SDCC.

I'm waiting to see if there's something official announced w/ programming before I commit. Too expensive for me to blindly go.

They've already announced the full programing schedule for D23 Japan which is in Oct. so I suspect an announcement will come before summer.
But the description on the website is enough to justify a ticket from me.
"The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. In anticipation of even bigger attendance, D23 Expo 2013 will feature: an overflow theater for the D23 Arena, which will accommodate more than 2,000 guests for live streaming of the popular Arena presentations; nearly double the size of presentation venue Stage 23 (formerly 1,000 seats); and an expanded show floor, to include Halls A, B, C, and D, as well as a larger Collectors Forum to provide even more magical experiences for guests."
It'll be a big year for sure.

If there any CMs on the forum who wants to help a certain forum member with d23 tickets ;D *wink wink nudge nudge*

I'd be 100% committed to Wondercon and whatever they call the Anaheim event, can we please stop calling the Anaheim show Wondercon. Wondercon is a Bay Area event, the Anaheim convention needs a new name with logo and branding. Yes the Anaheim show did sell out of Saturday and 3-day badges but they will never have the vibe and community that that Wondercon has had. I've attended both shows so I can critique without bias unlike those who have attended just 1 of the shows and try to compare one to the other.

It sounds like they plan on calling both shows "WonderCon," but just adding the location.

So WCA and WCSF

Sorry but the Anaheim show needs to get a new name for branding and it's legacy. Wondercon is a name associated with the Bay Area and should remain as such. The only people that has given the Anaheim show props the last 2 years are the ones living in the LA/Orange county area. I've been to the last 2 Anaheim shows and all of the Wondercon shows in the Bay Area since CCI took over and it's no contest that I prefer the Bay Area show.
When Wondercon was last in the Bay Area they had Marvel come back after almost 10 years of being away, Mattel, Kidrobot, Image, Dark Horse, and was growing to be the 2nd biggest comic convention in the U.S. next to SDCC. When the move was made for the Anaheim show for 2012 why do you think Mattel pulled out and Marvel had such a scant booth. It's all about location. Ask any of the CCI Staff of what venue in which they prefer and it's a majority in favor of Moscone instead of the Anaheim Convention Center. Sorry but the mouse loses out to sourdough and the Golden Gate in this argument.
-
By the way if anyone is wondering why Marvel wasn't at the Anaheim show this year is that one of the reasons in D23 and the other was because the show remained in Anaheim. Axel Alonso, one of the main big wigs at Marvel, is a native San Franciscan and he was paramount in Marvel being at Wondercon in 2011 after more than 10 years being away. When he heard that the 2012 show was going to be in Anaheim he was PO'd so that's why Marvel had such a small booth and when the 2013 show was going to return to Anaheim he had a big say in Marvel not coming back.
It's pretty safe to say that until Wondercon returns to the Bay Area that you won't be seeing Marvel anytime soon.

Wow... You're really passionate about WonderCon aren't you? Despite your dislike of the name, the convention is called WonderCon Anaheim. There's no other name for it. Why should we call it something it's not.
Fact is... it's more cost effective to keep the WonderCon brand for this convention. They don't have to spend additional money rebranding the convention, designing new marketing material, and developing the buzz that's already associated with the WonderCon brand. Imagine the amount of money they can Dave if they print things just with WonderCon and have two WonderCon conventions. They'd also spend less by having one logo and customizing it with a city.
Most people already know you shouldn't confuse WonderCon Anaheim with the original WonderCon or SDCC. However, everyone knows WonderCon Anaheim is a convention by Comic-Con International. That's the most important thing it can have. Association with the CCI brand. If they create an entirely new name to brand that'll have to work to get that new name associated with CCI. Not saying it's not possible or likely, it's just a waste of time when WonderCon Anaheim was already established thus year.

Here's an interesting blog, that speculates what could happen for WC in 2014 (and CC):

Interesting read. So would it be the San Diego Comic Con of Anaheim. Remember we do have the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

If this is true, then good for him. Sounds like he wasn't about to be fooled twice. And unlike most of the fans in NorCal that have lost out, Alonso actually has clout.
Most people already know you shouldn't confuse WonderCon Anaheim with the original WonderCon or SDCC.
I don't agree with this. They had definitely advertised it as WonderCon (i.e. the "dates and location to be announced" tag on their website), not a new thing. This is a major reason why a lot of us weren't happy; I don't think that anyone is opposed to simply starting a new con in Anaheim but they were taking a convention that the Bay Area took 25 years to make, and moving it 400 miles away (to an area that already has the major one, no less.)
This is also why I really hadn't been a fan of the idea of ComicCon moving either. It's been SDCC for over 40 years, not LVCC or ACC. However -- now that 1) WonderCon Anaheim isn't going anywhere so SoCal still has a con, and 2) one of the main reasons Glanzer and everyone else cited as not using the West Wing of Moscone in 2012 which they were offered, or not looking at other sites in NorCal (i.e. San Jose in 2013...but even San Mateo or Sacramento should have been considered) is that it wasn't big enough--in my opinion they should be consistent and move ComicCon to somewhere that's also big enough...and move it back to San Diego once the expansion is completed.
However, everyone knows WonderCon Anaheim is a convention by Comic-Con International. That's the most important thing it can have. Association with the CCI brand.
Yes, this part I agree with. I don't mind them calling the new one "WonderCon Anaheim" because two things WonderCon are known for are 1) being the smaller sister convention of Comic-Con and 2) being the Bay Area's comic convention. Adding "Anaheim" to the name makes it clear that #2 doesn't apply, but #1 can still apply. So while I don't like it being called just "WonderCon," calling it "WonderCon Anaheim" sounds fine.

I just realized: Wondercon Anaheim = WCA = West Coast Avengers.

Cool

LOL!

You guys can go back and forth on what it should be called. I'm just glad to have a convention near Disneyland with lots of panels and exhibitors

You make a good point, Bert. While it would be far more convenient for me to attend locally, it's fun hopping back and forth between Disney and a good Con.

That is a pretty cool part about it, and a good reason for keeping it down here.

That was a relatively short discussion (4 posts that discussed what it "should" be called) that ended about 4 weeks ago. Seems kind of overreactive to describe that as "going back and forth."

Well if Disney but hasbro, their next purchase might be CCI. If that happens then it could be changed to D23

Sorry my bad buys not but.

Not sure if I should make a new topic for this, but here's a good article detailing the size of Northern California convention centers:

I don't think this has been posted yet, so I'll go ahead see what you guys think.
I found an interesting article from the San Diego UT newspaper. The article was posted July 17th, a few weeks ago, and is about SDCC and the rent price decrease that the convention got for the next few years, but the writer also mentions Wondercon. In it he interviewed Jay Burruess from the Orange County Vistor and Convention Bureau and claims that Wondercon is returning to Anaheim again next year. While I wouldn't take that as anything offical, I think it's interesting and could be a little telling. But anything can happen and Ill wait for an offical statement from CCI
You can take a look at the article here: http://utsandiego.com/news/2013/jul/18/tp-comic-cons-big-break/ (http://utsandiego.com/news/2013/jul/18/tp-comic-cons-big-break/)

Think it will be staying for awhile because they changed the name from Wondercon to Wondercon Anaheim.

You have to relax your eyes like you are looking at one of those stereogram posters. Beer helps too.
