Extra rooms at the Town & Country
« Reply #585 on: July 08, 2013, 02:36:46 PM »
We have bought accommodation for our group through Travel planners and we have 2 double rooms at the T&C. For whatever reason, we thought the rooms were refundable, and now that part of the group cannot make the trip. Effectively we have the rooms from the 15-22 July and it cost us $USD$1355 per room. We are still coming and have rooms booked for us, but do not need all the rooms.

We are trying to get a refund directly through Town and Country as they should have an overflow list. But this post was to see if there was any interest in the rooms.

They come with Breakfast and reduced parking rates. We aren't trying to make money off the rooms, and will take any reasonable offer if T&C can't refund.

If you don't get any takers here and can't get a refund, Tweet the link to this thread with hashtag #sdcc.  Good luck!

Late Cancellations
« Reply #588 on: July 14, 2013, 08:46:54 AM »
I've searched around this forum and I haven't found an answer, so I figured I might as well ask here.

I had everything set for Comic-Con this year until unexpected events forced me to cancel my plans, i.e. my hotel. Now, at the last minute, it turns out I can go. Of course, however, all of the hotels through Comic-Con's site are booked.

I was just wondering, in these last days before the Con starts, do cancellations typically occur to where I can slip in and get a last minute reservation or should I just look elsewhere?

Check out the Travel Planners site. They might still have some Mission Valley Shuttle hotels still available.

The hotels will get last minute cancellations, but the rooms will be sold at full con pricing ($500+ per night) if you are trying through their website or a booking company like hotels.com etc. You have to be pretty lucky to get them at this point. I'd imagine they show up for a bit and then get sniped. More expensive rooms are available at certain hotels

Hilton bayfront = $800 a night
Marriot Gaslamp = $900 a night
etc etc.

If you wanted a gaslamp hotel, id look on craigslist/facebook/twitter. Lots of desperate people trying to get rid of hotels they cannot get a refund for, but are unable to go.
Or just stay further away and take a cab/trolley/bus/drive each morning.

From the looks of it, everything is gone. I guess I'll just be on the lookout in case anything comes up.

Sorry to hear that. I just looked at Hotels.com and they had some stuff in the $300-$400 per night price range, plus the Hyatt for $700.

Yeah, I just did some googling and found hilton had hotels near the airport at $350 a night.
You can get the residence inn gaslamp at $650 a night.

I'm surprised so much is available, and some at great prices, this close to the con.

Have an extra Hilton Bayfront hotel room, anyone looking for a nice hotel?
« Reply #596 on: July 17, 2013, 10:05:51 PM »
Con Exhibitors, we reserved an extra room last year thinking we would need it but we actually don't and it's too late to cancel it. Hilton Bayfront, wanna get rid of it at face value $295 per night, must be able to put down your own credit card for incidentals. We can accept cash or charge for the room cost already charged to our card. Room is reserved Wed-Sunday checkout.
