I wonder if they will do a hotel lottery similar to the summer convention? Despite what I said earlier, there is now a chance I may attend, particularly if I will be running a panel. I guess I should have grabbed that Hilton when it was first announced
I have zero actual information, but speaking for myself only I really doubt there will be a hotel block. The hotel negotiations are always a major sore point between CCI and the hotels, and with this being on a holiday weekend and people (depending on the state of the surge) desperate to get back to traveling... Comic-Con kind of doesn't have anything the hotels need this time around. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm not going to depend on it.
I think the idea for TurkeyCon is that it will be a local con. I don't think there will be enough demand to justify a hotel deal. Is there a hotelpocalypse for WonderCon?
Why do you think there will not be a hotel block.Marriott Marquis, Marriott Gaslamp, Hard Rock, Hilton Bay Front are blocked out for that weekend.Omni, MGH, Pendry rates are higher for that weekend.
Im guessing hotels may just be sold out / more expensive as it's the biggest travel weekend of the year in America. That's hotels every where over Thanksgiving weekend: sold out / expensive.
The above was all posted before I saw the article listed here (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)So the answer is WonderCon sized event. Hopefully that means they will have an equivalent hotel system to WonderCon including special rates for the major hotels.
If it helps with having the full facts available, I recently received an invitation to apply to do a panel at Comic-Con special edition. I don't know who else it was sent to but it was not directly addressed to me and I live outside the US so I would guess they are sending to all existing panelists from the summer event. That would mean they are aiming big with their panelists spread, although it could still be all for a local convention.
I find that VERY interesting. Is that invitation the norm for the regular con?
