It might have to do with the venue? Omnia is trying to be an upscale club, their normal dress code is no athletic shoes, etc.

My group is planning to go to this, but we just noticed the 'Upscale Fashionable Attire' dress code section in the disclaimer. Given that our normal con-wear doesn't generally fit this description, I'm wondering if they will lax this for the evening?

You'll have to call them to be sure, but I'm sure they'll understand most people are coming directly from the Con and won't have time to change (if they even packed something upscale...). FWIW, I went to the Cinephile party last year at Fluxx, which has a similar dress code, and they didn't care that people were in casual clothes.
