Title: Mare of Easttown
Post by: Pyramid on June 02, 2021, 06:48:49 AM
The series finale was last Sunday.  It pulled in 4 million viewers which is the highest ever for an original show on HBO.   I don't think I have been this enraptured with a show since True Detective season 1.  Maybe Westworld - the first two seasons.  Ok, Stranger Things all seasons.  lol  I can't recommend this drama enough.  Kate Winslet is simply superb.  Give it a watch!

I'm planning on catching up on this one ASAP: I had to finish "For All Mankind" first, as I was late to that party and discovered how awesome it is.  Now that I'm done with that one I'm jumping into "Mare" (and I'm all-in on "Hacks" and already adore Jean Smart so I'm hyped to see her in "Mare of Easttown" to get a double-dose of her awesome acting!!)

Saw the first ep and I _really_ dug how they just jumped right in: I literally was nervous around he 30 min. mark that I might've accidentally started w/episode 2!  The first ep does an excellent job establishing the community, characters, and situations really organically w/out feeling like a "pilot" or something!  This is def. the type of series where I'm likely (once again) the only one in the household who will be a fan, so it'll take awhile for me to get through (unlike, say, Apple TV+'s "Mythic Quest" where my oldest kid is also really into it, or "Ted Lasso" that my wife adores as much as I do)
