Bubbles usually don’t allow for travel though.What probably happened with LACC is they reached a point where they had to make a decision, but force majeure provisions either hadn’t kicked in or wouldn’t kick in, so their choices were either plan to go forward or lose a lot of money.

Right; I dunno if LA Comic-Con is a "for profit" organization or not, but I suspect the options for for-profit vs non-profit (like SDCCI/CCI) are different and more limiting.

I suspect something like this. They may be required to make it look like they are attempting to hold the show. The precautions that they are taking sound reasonable enough but it seems odd that they’re rescheduling 2.5 months later when no one is expecting the situation to be any better. They might also need money on hand which they will get if enough people buy badges. Although refunds are allowed, they could be banking on people to just defer to next year instead.
