Bubbles usually don’t allow for travel though.

What probably happened with LACC is they reached a point where they had to make a decision, but force majeure provisions either hadn’t kicked in or wouldn’t kick in, so their choices were either plan to go forward or lose a lot of money.
Right; I dunno if LA Comic-Con is a "for profit" organization or not, but I suspect the options for for-profit vs non-profit (like SDCCI/CCI) are different and more limiting.

who is considering buying tix tomorrow?

I did consider it, but that weekend is just bad for me, with 2 other things going on. I can't take a trip from home at that time. :(

Well I think something like losing a big deposit may suck either way!

I suspect something like this. They may be required to make it look like they are attempting to hold the show. The precautions that they are taking sound reasonable enough but it seems odd that they’re rescheduling 2.5 months later when no one is expecting the situation to be any better. They might also need money on hand which they will get if enough people buy badges. Although refunds are allowed, they could be banking on people to just defer to next year instead.

I’ve also seen multiple people say that in the best of times, the con’s line management to get in is terrible, so yeah, I’m suuuuuuuuure those Covid restrictions will be adhered to.

This seems pretty plausible, I think.  I haven't checked to see what current guidelines are in LA County, but I'm 99% sure San Diego county couldn't host an event like that with current guidelines.

That being said, I know plenty of municipalities, businesses, and schools/school districts that are fairly blatantly breaking mandates and guidelines.  I know of at least one local business by me (a gym) that continually breaks the laws, pays the fine, follows guidelines for a week or two, then goes back to breaking guidelines.  I know of municipalities where local PD's have publicly said they're not enforcing the mandates (oddly, some are in areas that have bad COVID-19 numbers).  I don't know of any large organizations brazenly breaking local guidelines, and I'm in no way implying organizers here are doing ANYTHING against guidelines (conversely, they're stating they're working with local officials to adhere to guidelines).  That being said, the most recent guidelines I saw prohibited Conventions and Concerts, so it's also possible organizers are taking a "hope and a prayer" attitude, with officials saying "you can plan but there's no guarantee things will improve enough to go forward in 2.5 months."
