Housing: November 2021 Mini SDCC

It seems like the hotels are assuming the 26-28 is the likely date. the difference in hotel prices between this weekend and the weekend of the 18th is staggering (but right in line with standard SDCC price hikes). Omni on orbitz seems to have reasonable prices for that weekend of the 26th, BUT, it requires booking a longer stay of 6+ days. You can reserve and pay later, with free cancellation.

Good catch. Hotel prices aren't normally that high on Thanksgiving weekend (I checked a couple other cities and they aren't high) so it's very possible something big is going on in DT San Diego.

I just went and looked at check in on the 25th (thursday) check out the 29th (monday) for hard rock-unavailable, bayfront-unavailable, hilton gaslamp-$800+/night. I didn't mess around with the dates or other hotels yet but just based on that alone...the hotels for sure think something big is happening those days.

After thinking it over, I cancelled my booking because if it's a smaller con, I can just drive there for the day.

Register or LoginWell, Thanksgiving technically is the only completely open weekend in November on the calendar...and given the circumstances, I don't think too many people would blame them if they scheduled it for then, especially if it's F-S-S (not Thanksgiving Day).
