Anyone think the experience may return this year? Anyone hear anything?
-
I find it unlikely, given that the show will be over.
-
Did there experience at SXSW this year and it was pretty cool...Bleed for the Throne.

Ooh, there was something at SXSW? Wow... then maybe I am wrong. Hope I am wrong!

Yeah, they did a major blood drive at SXSW for it - but this is still before the show airs. I really doubt they'll bother to bring it to SDCC since the show will be over. One of my friends was an 'interactor' for it at SXSW (she's LA-based), though, so I'll post here if she hears otherwise.
HBO has a history of bringing things to SXSW and not repeating them at SDCC if the timing isn't right, though. So my hopes are definitely not high.

They didn't bring anything last year and the show will be over by the time July comes, so I'm thinking likely not. I know on occasion some things will come after it's ended, like Deadpool, but they at least had something to promote, like DVD releases or something. Or it was a major anniversary. Sadly I think the GoT SDCC days are over.
-
Glad I waited 11 hours for the last offsite. Oh wait never mind.. I wasn't that glad..
-
They have the prequel to promote. I agree it is a low probability but you never know :)

... I hadn't thought of that. Hmmm. I don't know how far along in production they are for that. If they have anything to "show" so to speak. Any casting or art or anything. I must admit I'm out of the loop. But if they have something worth bringing for the prequel, that could happen.
-
I think if they do anything (which I still find unlikely) it would be a panel for the prequel, not an off-site. They might have casting announcements or an actor or two or a sizzle reel, but without a release date for the first season yet I doubt they'll put together a whole immersive experience.

I’m out of the loop. Have they started filming? I’m so hyper focused on the main show I have no idea what the progress is there. If so, I’d say this is likely. If not, I could see maybe see them splitting a panel with another HBO property. Since Westworld isn’t coming back for a while maybe they won’t have much to show either.

Westworld is back in production as of February. I think its far more likely HBO brings a Westworld Experience back to SDCC this year as opposed to a rehash of Game of Thrones. But you never know - they might do a GOT Victory Lap to gear up for awards season.

Well, if they do I hope they change up this year's Bleed for the Throne SXSW activation. Been to every year at SXSW and this was one of the most underwhelming. Went Thursday just to experience it on Day 1, and then the next day to give blood. The actors were fun, the food was good, but everything else was meh.

They were pretty set on pulling back from their presence at the con last year per a secret source :P :P I'd think that would hold over for this year too, given the show will be over by then.

Tough to say. It might be an Avengers: Endgame situation where the announcement is a spoiler, so who knows. The last prequel news was months ago, just to tease that we won't be seeing anything until sometime in 2020.
Finances play a role in large-scale con events like this. It costs a buttload of money to fly and put up a cast, especially if they're flying internationally. It may not seem like they care too much about that, given how much the show cost, but the show is wrapped, and the press tour is largely over. HBO has other screaming babies to feed, like the prequel (but also , all of their many many shows).
It's still a little early to say, but if they weren't willing to have one last year before the final season, I'd bet they'd do it again for a prequel we know nothing about, unless some major kiloton knowledge bombs drop before then.
(disclosure, this is all speculation of what I know of entertainment. As far as GOTs info goes, I know nothing, Jon Snow)

2020? Hmm, I guess if that release date is true we won't be seeing any GoT at SDCC until maybe next year. Pretty sad, but understandable.
To quote [member=5703]NoNoNuni[/member], we truly know nothing, Jon Snow (until they drop more information) :P

I am being optimistic and hoping GoT will have some presences at SDCC 2019, out or inside of the convention center, will be bummed if there is nothing.
-
Nothing for them or Westworld last year. Maybe they'll put WW in that spot this year? Were due for a new season, right?

I'd love another Westworld presence since I missed the first one. Next season (3) doesn't come out until 2020 though. :(
-
Ugh, then probably no HBO again this year
-
With the way this season is heading, I would think they would want to drum up positive reactions for the prequel series by bringing something. Whether its just the actors and writers talking about it or an offsite that features the prequel as well as other HBO shows together.
-
Won't post any spoilers but can you imagine if they brought an experience based off of episode 5 ???
-
No line lol :D

HA HA!!! I think we could hold a barbecue?

Haha ok so even if Game of Thrones doesn't do an offsite (I'm on the side that thinks they won't), I hope some enterprising bbq joint in SD renames their menu accordingly. The opportunity is RIGHT THERE. Come on.
