WONDERCON 2016 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY #25 Let's Talk Food (As in Food Trucks)!

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

There will be food trucks at the Los Angeles Convention Center during WonderCon 2016! The trucks will be located outside on the Plaza Dining area, opposite Petree Hall on Level One. At this time, the list of the food trucks isn't finalized, but roam out there and you’ll find some great choices for lunch, dinner, or snacks. If it happens to be raining (it never rains in Southern California, but don’t say we didn’t warn you) or you want to get in out of the sun, there will be a seating area inside the LACC in West Hall A to bring in your food truck purchases and sit and eat.

The Los Angeles Convention Center includes both the Galaxy Court (on Level One, near West Hall A, where you go to pick up your badges) and the Compass Café (above the South Lobby on Level One, near the WonderCon Exhibit Hall).

In addition, check our “Welcome to LA” map and directory on pages 111—112 of the WonderCon 2016 Program Book for a detailed map showing the Los Angeles Convention Center, L.A. LIVE, and the surrounding area, including restaurants and shopping. L. A. LIVE, right next door to the LACC, has a number of restaurants and food options, from casual to upscale dining. The entire “South Park” neighborhood, which the Convention Center and L. A. LIVE are a part of, is filled with restaurants and shops, so get out there and explore!

WONDERCON 2016 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY #26 WonderCon Weather!

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Okay, we’re not a rogue band of meteorologists out to save the world from the Weather Wizard, nor do we have a time-share with Doctor Strange and his Eye of Agamotto, but we can read a weather forecast and the upcoming week in Los Angeles looks pretty nice, as in sunny and warm!

Here’s the forecast (slightly like a broken record):

Friday, 3/25: Sunny & warm, high 70s

Saturday, 3/26: Sunny & warm, high 70s

Sunday, 3/27: Sunny & warm, high 70s

Temps get into the high 50s at night. Now that’s perfect WonderCon-going weather! Hope to see all of you there later THIS week!

WONDERCON 2016 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY #29 Let’s Review: WonderCon 2016!

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

We’re already at the Los Angeles Convention Center, building the WonderCon 2016 Exhibit Hall and programming rooms, so now the only question to ask is: Are YOU ready? Here are some helpful tips to get you ready for actually being at the big show!

- Check our WonderCon 2016 Convention Policies page for important info for attending the show.

- Our Official Comic-Con App is updated to include WonderCon 2016 info. Click here to read the Toucan Tip on how to get it!

- These two Toucan Tips of the Day posts include a ton of info (including maps) on WonderCon at the Los Angeles Convention Center and how to get there, including public transportation. Click on the links to read them.

- Review our complete set of Toucan Tips for 2016 by clicking here or on the link of the same name in our Categories box in the upper right corner of this page. There’s a wealth of info in there (we’ve been doing this for almost a month now!).

- If you're staying at one of our 9 official hotels (or parking near one of them), don't forget our FREE Shuttle Bus Service to and from the hotels and the Los Angeles Convention Center. Click here for a complete schedule.

- Remember to bring your badge confirmation email to pick up your badge! That email contains a barcode. You can pick up your badge in West Hall A at the Los Angeles Convention Center. 3-Day and Friday badgeholders can begin to pick up their badges on Thursday, March 24, starting at 12:00 PM and continuing until 7:00 PM. Visit our Badge Purchase FAQ page for hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Wear Your Badge at All Times!

Once you get that badge, WEAR IT! Your WonderCon 2016 badge must be worn at all times in an easily visible place on your person, so our security people can see it. This badge is what gets you into the building, not to mention the massive Exhibit Hall, panel rooms (while space is available), and even the nighttime events and areas-Anime, Games, our Hospitality Suite-at our Headquarters Hotel, the JW Marriott, next door to the Los Angeles Convention Center at L.A. LIVE. So keep that badge prominently displayed at all times, and wear it proudly!

Also remember that this year we’re utilizing RFID badges at WonderCon. This means you will have to tap in and tap out at various locations around the Convention Center. Please tap your badge to the gate (at left) when you see it to tap in; when you leave the Exhibit Hall, please tap out. In the Microsoft Theater, you will need to tap in, but there’s no need to tap out when you leave.

- It’s a big show; plan accordingly. Going to WonderCon 2016 with a group of friends? Be sure to designate a place and time to meet in case you get split up. With all the great photos you’ll be taking, your phone battery may run out a lot faster than you anticipated and you’ll want to know how to reunite with your group. There are many spots to regroup, including the large South and West lobbies of the Los Angeles Convention Center. Think ahead and plan a place to meet!

- While the Exhibit Hall is larger than it’s ever been, and it’s still an extremely busy place. Please be aware of the people around you and try not to stop and clog the aisles by taking photos. There is a WonderCon 2016 Photo Area in West Hall A, where you pick up your badges. Do not sit in the aisles, and remember there’s no doublewide strollers or rolling carts allowed in the Exhibit Hall. Click here for an Exhibit Hall map.

- Remember your collector necessities: Want lists, bags and boards, sketchbooks, pens, poster tubes, etc.

- Remember your personal essentials: Phone charger, camera, charged batteries, water bottle, backpack, snacks, comfortable shoes.

- No strollers in the Microsoft Theater; a stroller parking area will be provided outside the theater. Stroller parking is available also in the Los Angeles Convention Center if you'd like to leave the stroller out of the busy Exhibit Hall and programming rooms. Stroller parking is available in West Hall A on Level One, and around the corner from Programming Room 403AB on Level Two. WonderCon will not provide security or check-in/check-out services for strollers.

- If you’re showing your portfolio, remember to bring printed copies of your work (never give out original art!), business cards, and resumes.

- Review our complete Programming Schedule to see what you want to see. Use our MySched function to highlight and keep track of the panels and events you want to attend. It’s easy and it’s free.

- Read online or download our 2016 Quick Guide. It contains maps of the Exhibit Hall, Los Angeles Convention Center, and our headquarters hotel, the JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE. The Quick Guide also features the complete 3-day Program Schedule grids, plus listings of all the exhibitors at the show. The Quick Guide comes bound into the center of the WonderCon 2016 Program Book, which all attendees will receive (while supplies last) when they pick up their badges in West Hall A.

- If you’re posting photos or Tweeting about all the great things you’re seeing and doing at WonderCon 2016, please share the love and use our official hashtags: #WonderCon and #wc2016 … share your experiences with the whole wide world!

- Be kind and courteous. Treat people the same way you’d like to be treated. That includes fellow attendees, exhibitors, cosplayers, staff, and volunteers. Remember, we’re all here to have a good time!

- Remember to have fun! Actually, we sincerely hope you don’t have to remember that one … just go with the flow and enjoy everything WonderCon 2016 has to offer!

EDIT:

CCI added additional information last night, emphasis mine, as per "(Additional info added at 7:30 PM, 3/23/16, highlighted in yellow.)"

PLEASE NOTE: If you're coming to the Los Angeles Convention Center on Thursday, March 24 to pick up your 3-Day or Friday badge, you will have to pay for parking. There are no programs or events on Thursday-nor is the Exhibit Hall open-only badge pick-up from 12:00—7:00 PM in West Hall A.
