ALA Midwinter 2020, Philadelphia, January 24-28

So, technically this is a professional conference with a high registration price for librarians and our ilk only.

However, in the past few years, they have been offering an "Exhibits Only" pass which gives you access to the show floor, featuring many, many publishers, larger and small. The Midwinter ALA conference isn't as large as the Annual, but still a great place to pick up free books and meet authors, if you're into that sort of thing. At the Annual this past June, Image and Dark Horse were also represented.

Right now, an Exhibits Only pass is $70 until November 14. It's at the PA Convention Center in Philly, January 24-28, 2020.

I attended the Annual in DC this past June as a tabler in the Zine Pavilion, and brought home over 20 books! Some ARCs, some fully finished copies, some signed by the authors (including Jamie Hernandez!).

Just wanted to pass this info on in case anyone is interested. What can I say, I'm bookish.

I went to this in Anaheim before. I was able to get a free exhibition badge. Are you a librarian? I got my MLIS degree a few years ago.

Hi. I have my MLS but never got a library job. When I graduated library school, the current thought was "oh, lots of librarians are retiring, so there will be jobs"... but... well, I finished in December 2001, and instead of filling those jobs they just kind of eliminated them. I've was a production editor for academic journals for a long time, and currently work in medical publishing. But I still feel like a librarian, based on how many of them I know, and how much I use libraries!  :D

Thanks for posting! I'd definitely do something like this if it happened in northern CA.
