Any news on whether this event is back or not? Has anyone received an invite yet?

No word yet. They announced late last year from what I recall.

:-)

I have a feeling that's not what you meant.  I think you meant how do you get on the invitation list.

I got on the list through work.  My company does business with Wired.  We buy advertising from them.  The party is for trade, press, and celebrities (who get interviewed by Wired).  If you have any business relationship with Wired, you should use your contacts to let them know you are interested in getting on the list.

I think the event is on, but I can say that 100%.

You are correct, that was the information I was trying to gather.

We're staying at the Omni this year, and from what I've been able to gather the Wired Cafe typically take over the pool area. I've seen photos and it looks like a good time. I wonder if I know anyone that does business with Wired.

A friend of mine noticed a post on the Nergiest stating that it is coming back for 1 day only this year - same as last year. Waiting on an official announcement or confirmation.

The Wired cafe only takes up part of the patio at the Omni, the pool and hot tub are still accessible to guests.  They put up privacy screens around the Wired cafe.  We went up there every night after the con to soak our weary bones but never caught a glimpse of much.
FYI, the view of the con (and the fireworks) from the pool area is amazing!

Wired Cafe is definitely back on this year as I was emailed info about it so I could save the date, The official invites for Wired Cafe haven't been sent out yet, even Hitfix only sent out their official invites today.

That's good to know. It's also good to know that the pool is still accessible for guests. It will be nice to relax in the pool or the hot tub. What fireworks are there?

Also, can someone put me on the list for the Wired Cafe?  ;)

I concur. What does one need to get on the invite list? I'm assuming someone in the know, and working in the industry? I do work
in TV, but not on the press side...

So would you have an inside to other possible invites for this event (if it occurs)?

Someone from work got me on the list two years ago.  I don't remember who and they probably don't work here anymore.  Wired must have used the previous year's list last year because I got another invitation last year.

I haven't even gotten a "save the date" on it this year.  But, I'm checking with my people.

I get the invitation because my company buys advertising from Wired.  The people I'm checking with are the direct contacts with Wired's sales and marketing people.

Ad buyers get lots of perks.

This sounds interesting but being a college student doesn't get me the correct connections, well darn. Whoever goes, hope you have fun.

Invites have been sent out. It is indeed one day only. Non-transferable and sadly there was no plus one on my invite this year. Must have been the result of last year's capacity issues.
