My wife is not a huge nerd. She goes to comic con with me every year but hangs out at the pool while I do my thing.
I just saw on the HWR that Bill Prady is having a "party" at the Pool Club at the HBF Sat from 3-7. The bar is literally right next to the pool. Are they going to close the whole pool?! does anyone know!? That would so suck for my wife. She has a friend coming down just for saturday to hang with her at the pool. Anyone have experience with this? Has this happened before?! Has HBF ever closed their pool to hotel guests?!

Maybe call the hotel? Surely they will have a quick answer for you.

The person I got had no information. Didn't even know there was a party going on. I tweeted the @HiltonBayfront account too. So far no answer. :-/

Maybe depends on the size of the party. Saw Bill Nye at a party at the bar one year we were staying there. But the party was small enough that it fit within the bar and didn't close down the pool. But i seem to remember it being closed at one point for a larger party.

Know the saying "happy wife, happy life" .... I'm a dead man. :( :(

Might be a good day to go to Coronado? Take the Ferry then the free shuttle down to the Del and the gorgeous beach.

Seconded. It's super easy and the beach there is beautiful!

Thanks everyone. Just got an email back from Hilton. They'll just be closing the pool bar area from 2 to 7. The pool will remain open to guests.

I've never heard of HBF closing the pool for an event. Usually it's only the Hard Rock that does that.

Doesn't the omni close theirs as well?

The Omni only closes the pool bar area for Wired Cafe. The pool itself is still open for guests.

I am hoping they don't close the pool at HBF, will make me sad. I couldn't use the Hard Rock's pool at all last year.

They finally replied to my email. Pool will not be closed. The pool bar will be.

This post got me thinking about pools in general. The MMM used to offer day passes but it looks like they don't any more. MGH still does but they are either sold out or blocked off for the 18th-22nd. (You can actually book SDCC 2019 days but I have no idea if they would be honored.) The Westgate has them too but for $35 as opposed to $15 at the MGH.

They obviously don’t advertise it but the Hilton bayfront pool is actually open to the public as part of the deal with the city that got the sky bridge built. You can just walk in and just use the pool

Just realized the Bayfront doesn't have laundry. If you see someone at the pool washing clothes, say hi.

Just don’t use too much soap, or they’ll close the pool and you’ll have to move to the bay.

Another one of those amenities I like at the Residence Inn, a laundry room.

Agreed.

It’s funny but last month I stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn in San Diego and even though it is considered a step down from say the Hilton Bayfront, it had a fridge and microwave in the room, free parking and a hot breakfast, oh, and there was a laundry room too. I almost forgot, they had a happy hour in the bar. If I didn’t love being right next to con I would have stayed there.

We got into San Diego today (Tuesday) and decided to wander around all the hotels next to the convention center. When we were at the Bayfront around 9:30pm, we actually saw a ton of people at the pool. So unlike some hotels, they do seem to open late.
