It is set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, but closer to RotJ side of things. Jon Favreau has confirmed this in a few interviews. So probably not Yoda barring some regeneration shenanigans. Still exciting though!

Also, remember that line at the end: they were saying no way he’s 50 yrs old. And the droid mentioned different species age differently. So this new alien baby was alive at the same time as when Yoda was on Dagobah.

A buddy of mine was talking about the baby, and he came up with:
* we don't know the name of Yoda's species.  Yet (rumors are we'll learn the name of it during this season of The Mandalorian)
* we know Yoda
* we know the one other character of Yoda's species is named "Yaddle"
* he therefor dubbed this baby "Yiddle"

Works for me for now  :P

If there isn’t a glut of baby yoda exclusives at the con next year, there’ll be hell to pay

We really need to stop saying baby Yoda. But of course, we don’t know the canonical name for his species, so baby Yoda is all we got.

Right?!  It took decades for someone to top the baby Ewok (hello Rian Johnson & Porgs), and now we have baby...er...Yiddle.

Plush baby Yiddle: likely coming soon to Disney's "Galaxy's Quest" and hopefully Comic-Con

Could be a clone

The more things change, the more they stay the same

Hoban 'Wash' Washburn: It's okay, I'm a leaf on the wind!
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: What does that mean?

We've been calling the baby Yodita.

Waited to watch in until last might since my son was home for the weekend. Wow it's good. I did not expect such a strong Lone Wolf and Cub vibe, what a nice surprise. Also like how, instead of adding a bunch of new things, they are taking existing things in the Star Wars universe and giving depth to them, like the Ugnaught and Jawas.

I have spoken.

The cinematography, score, screenplay, cameo/cast is superb.  I am really digging the western vibe, and I think this is what John Favreau was trying for when he did Cowboys and Aliens.  A really great set of episodes so far...

With this show, Watchmen and His Dark Materials I almost feel spoiled.
