The Annual Fight for Productivity
« on: July 01, 2019, 09:53:19 AM »
So, of course as SDCC nears, minds often wander a bit more and it's harder to be productive at work, school, life in general.

What are your methods for trying to remain productive when all you want to think about is the convention (and other things of course, this doesn't exclusively apply to SDCC time)?

I was stalking all the online sites for news constantly this morning at work. Then I went and did actual work for not even ten minutes.  In those ten minutes was when the Twilight Zone went up and gone.  So I learned my lesson and won't do work for another two weeks  :P

Realistically, when I need to actually be doing productive things at work or at home, I just have to put my phone out of site and don't bring up the internet on my work computer otherwise I fall into the refresh rabbit hole. I'm not terrible at getting work done if I don't have the temptation in front of me.

I do... nothing.  Absolutely nothing. My supervisors are side eyeing me.  My house is a mess.  Send prayers because I have 12 days to get this in order hahaha.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I am the exact same.

Except my supervisor is on vacation for two weeks.

I'm actually surprisingly busy at work for this time of the year due to several factors.  So I dip in here and check the Unofficial Blog during breaks but I'm actually pretty occupied so that helps.  Can't believe it's already July.

Normally I'm super busy so that's why I can concentrate (have no other choice), but I'm shockingly not busy. I think it's because we're leading up to July 4th and this week is just tortuous of not being too busy for me (it feels like everyone else in the office is super busy but me and no one has time to transfer over work.)

After something like fandom tickets. I find a bit of chamomile helps.

For general productivity I couldn't survive without post-it notes.

ETA: I just walked through the cafeteria at work, where they are showing the USA vs England soccer match and suddenly I don't feel so bad about my drop in productivity.

I fail at this every time.. Especially when I'm taking summer classes! As soon as June hits, I go straight into Comic-Con thinking, planning, etc.. and.. i work for a big online company, so July is one of our big months due to One Special Day... so... i'm distracted planning for That Day and Con... And then there are Summer Fiction to work on, helping others and summer baking!
. i cant even focus on things cause SDCC takes over every thought! I'll get it together one day... soon!

I'm so useless and I have 3 days of work left.  I am tripping over my words and forgetting easy things like who to CC on emails.  It's a mess.  Lord help.

I've been going through crunch time for what seems like a month now, and we finally had our product release today. I was hoping to just veg the next 3-4 workdays, but I'm already getting bug reports and questions that I have to deal with. Ugh. Tuesday can't come fast enough.

This time of year, I am surprised I still have a job. I get so annoyed when people ask me to do actual...work!  This is my job right now.  Full time to SDCC! :D
It is 2024, and I am still asking...where's my flyin' car??!! @fannishmarcia

I usually have a harder time after the show because of fatigue and work no fun after a week in happyfuncomicbookland.

I just got to work, clocked in, and spent 20 minutes cruising this forum instead of working.  How's everyone else holding up? lmao
