Is there any news yet on when hopefully there will be a lottery for parking this year?No news yet
No news yetSame; SDCC was easier before I had a second little one who's Mr. Grumpy Pants on the trolley in the evening :-\
This one is near & dear to my heart ;)
I've never used Ace Parking. If I'm going to be at a hotel that charges for parking, does Ace generally work out to be cheaper? No. Ace Parking lots close at night. Anywhere from 12AM -3 AM. You aren't technically supposed to stay overnight or they can tow your car if they want. The lots open back up around 5 AM.

Now I know why I've never used Ace Parking. Thanks!you might want to search for a cheaper lot. Maybe long term parking at the airport? @Jesse O (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2849)

That's a great idea. In 2018 I stayed at The Republic and found a long-term lot that was cheaper than the hotel valet parking. Considering that I drive down on Tuesday or Wednesday and don't see my car until I load it with dirty laundry and swag on Sunday evening, it just makes more sense. I was wondering if Ace was the solution, but it clearly is not.Ace is only good for non-partying locals ;)
I just park at the hotel (fingers crossed), but I saw someone on Twitter call the Ace Parking sale "parking ragnarok" as a companion to "hotelpocalyse" and I will be referring to it that way from now on.Oh snap; haven't thought of that name before but it is indeed PERFECT!
@Iris (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1256) They don't do single-day refunds anymore, it's all or nothing. I think it changed a year or two pre-pandemic? You can see here on the request form: "We are unable to offer partial refunds for multiple day badges." https://www.comic-con.org/comic-con-2022-refund-request-form
Q: Will @AceParking be doing a parking lottery for this year's #SDCC?
A: At the moment we do not have information regarding the parking for the Comic-con event. But once it is finalized we shall post an update with the pertinent information
Minor text changeOoo. Hopefully that means more info is coming soon!

Can anyone confirm the parking situation for Manchester Grand Hyatt? I'll be staying there for the first time and wanted to know what the onsite parking situation is like. OR, do I have to participate in that ACE Parking lottery to park my car for 4 nights? Thanks. You should be able to buy parking via your hotel which includes over night. Ace parking clears their lots at 2 am
Can you still sign up with multiple email addresses like in the past?

Do people with downtown hotels usually go through Parking Ragnarok? I feel like our hotel has parking and I think we will rely on shuttle/walking but thought I'd askDon't think so. I would contact your hotel about parking and their rates. The parking lots available for Parking Ragnarok don't allow for overnight parking. So if you have a car, probably best to park at the hotel and shuttle/walk to the convention center.

I had some of my confirmation emails go to junk too but I think I received all my confirmation emails.thx for the reminder
Only a few more days left to enter the parking lotto! Last day is June 12 which is this Sunday.
Entries for the lottery will be accepted until June 12th, 2022. We will hold the lottery drawing on June 13th and divide the selected entries into groups.Tomorrow!
If I recall correctly from 2019, you can pay with any credit card and not the one associated with a winning entry. If that's still the case, FYI, the Ace form accepted my entries where I used my FSA/HSA and unemployment debit cards.they didn't accept my target red card LOL
With the Parking Lottery scheduled for June 13, when can we expect the winning emails with the group placements to go out?Sale for group 1 starts June 20 so I would think they would send out emails before then. Website doesn't mention a date for email notifications.

Maybe as soon as the lotto is done tomorrow?
fIn 2019, I got my emails on May 6. Looking back at the 2019 parking thread on this forum, it said lotto was on May 6. So for 2019, emails and lotto were the same day.
I am trying to recall whether it was on the same day or a couple of days after the lottery.
Tomorrow!Hah! Same here

Group 1 Parking emails are going out. I got one time stamped at 9:55am.That was fast! Good luck everyone!

Comic-Con 2022
UPDATE 6/13/22:
All group selection results emails have been sent. Emails to those who were not selected will be going out soon. The group 1 sale starts on June 20th at 10 AM.

UPDATE 6/13/22:
All group selection results emails have been sent including emails to those that did not get selected.
The not selected emails tend to cause confusion for people that registered with multiple accounts. If you received a Group X selection email, that email account is authorized for the sale. Any subsequent “not selected” emails are for different accounts that you registered.

Same I got group 3 and group 4. Was hoping for group 1 or 2. :(
Does anyone know how many groups there are this year?
My group 4 email says sale for group 4 is 7/11-7/17 which is pretty late. Almost seems like that might be the last group? If so, that makes my group 3 even less desirable. Haha.

I got nothing. Maybe I should have submitted more than one entry. Oh well. Parking at Balboa Park is free. So is the shuttle.
Don't be surprised if your vehicle gets towed and impounded.

I would be surprised if that did happen. Why do you think it would? People park at Balboa all day all the time. I've done it for museum events.

Right?? I thought there were fewer people going this year but what do I know. Not a single person in my group got Group 1. We have to sort through our results tonight and will be helping others if we can!
I think it was almost certainly botted unfortunately.I'm wondering where all the spots are going. I checked ebay & nothing listed yet

The wishful part of me is hoping they allotted more spots to the public sale and that those who were selected in groups 1-4 have a better chance of getting a close lot this year. But it is wishful thinking. My group submitted probably double the amount of entries as in 2019 and had less success this time (got a couple group 2s last time). So, I too, am curious where did all the spots go.I'm also thinking the group size might be *way* smaller then in previous years. In essence we will not know until the sale gets underway.

I was surprised they accepted my VCC. Since anyone can make those at will, if someone was serious they could flood the system with hundreds if not thousands of entries.
You know, I remember hearing about VCC, but when I tried to generate one a year or so ago, I think all the credit cards I checked said that although they used to do them, they had stopped providing them, so maybe they're not that accessible anymore?
Prices and lots are posted on ACE website!
Some banks did stop offering them while others changed the process to get one. But anyone with a bank account can get them through privacy.com. With a free account you can make up to 12 VPCs a month. Since it's backed by your bank account, it's more like a virtual debit card and not a virtual credit card. I don't buy anything online without using a VCC. Even then I use a unique VCC per vendor. I don't share numbers between stores. A unique card per vendor and setting a limit pretty much makes fraudulent charges impossible.
I'm open to accepting a Group 3 from anybody if you find anything better. I only need parking for Saturday and Sunday (maybe also Friday). I just have a Sunday badge this year.Lets see how it group 1 sale plays out. I'm not confident on the size of the groups or the amount of spaces offered.
Anyone checkout yet? What's the convenience fee?
Don't i have ever been skunked this bad before by ACE. I really think they held back parking for the general sale. Its the only thing that can explain how so few people seem to get anything. I also remember during the last SDCC parking sale even group two was getting under con parking which had never happened before. It's hard telling: sometimes a lot of people on a forum just get cruddy luck. Sometimes I've gotten really lucky w/this, sometimes I strike out. This year I've unfortunately struck out: I hope that I get lucky with help here, especially with a little one who plans his whole year around Comic-Con (down to outfits!).
I haven’t used Ace Parking with a rental car before, does the purchase site ask for make/model or car and license plate? What would you enter for a rental car?
We went in a rental car one year and it was no problem. I believe they do ask you for details about your car, but I just listed our usual vehicle and figured I would explain it to the parking attendant if they asked. But no one ever questioned it.

We'll see :-X
Sale doesn't open to group 1 until June 20th, so we still don't know the convenience fee. If I'm recalling right though, it was like $7/day at one point though (or am I mixing this up with something else... I feel like it's pretty steep though considering.)
Yet another edit: I would go check my prior parking passes, but I'm fairly certain they went to a defunct email address...
I got lucky; one Group 1 and 3 “not selected.” I’m relieved, my dad’s in his eighties so I’m hoping to avoid a super long walk at the beginning of our days.
I've heard about 2 winners for group 1's, a couple of group 2's, and a fair amount of group 3'sI wonder if each group is equally sized. Guess we'll find out over the next few weeks.

so in the interest of finding out the stats for winning.....

I know 5 winners of Group 1 and all of them submitted their email addresses either on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning last week.
we are at approx. 11.2% return on entries
sample size of 450 entries
iow, approx. 1 entry out of 10 won a group position
Wonder if that is more of a reflection of the amount of people looking for parking or that people are finding ways to spam the site. I honestly can't see it being the true amount of people as they still do drive up parking sales on those same lots during Con.
Didn’t they lose a few lots because they got sold in the last 3 years to be developed? Might explain less people getting accepted
I'm pretty sure that they'll be open spots, remember you needed a credit card to enter the lottery, and that's why it might be hard for someone to help out another person/ stranger. I did in previous years when it was just an email address, but having a credit card on file makes it more difficult. Just my opinion.it's not so much about helping out other people, but more about the shear quantity of wins to entries.
I struck out entirely too. Submitted 12 entires between me and my roommate and first year all entries were rejected for no groups not even a 3 or a 4. Weird.
So now I'm debating just dealing with the trolley or finding alt. parking. Never had to find parking outside of ACE before. Any suggestions?
I have gotten nothing in the lottery in years past, but have always ended up getting something by the time of the con. I can't remember a time when there weren't any lots available after the groups finished, and sometimes there was even Hilton Bayside if you were set to go as soon as they opened it up to everyone.
Alternatively, before I knew anything about the lottery, I think I used to just park in whatever lot I could find that day that wasn't exorbitant and then took the shuttle in from whatever the nearest stop was, if it was far away.

Anyone remember the previous parking lotteries? 'cuz i don'tI read some of this info in the 2019 parking thread but I already forgot. I believe 2019 had 4 groups and 2018 had either 5 or 6 groups.
how many groups were there ?
there were underground spots open early group 2?
there were Hilton spots open in early group 3?
any of this ring a bell?
Anyone know why Diamond view would sell out before say MTS or tailgate that is closer?
You have to remember that 2019 was the year that everyone who had a group could log in on day one despite what group you had as well. Typical Ace shenanigans!I think that was 2018? 2019 was the year group 1 sale opened early. But I recall reading posts that it was still mostly limited to group 1 only. But yea, we can probably expect some shenanigans again.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
This might be a dumb question but what does MMM stand for?
I keep getting the are no events currently what am I doing wrong??
PSA - Do not inadvertently click the Request Refunds button on the Purchased Reservations page. It'll immediately cancel without giving a confirmation prompt first (such as "Are you sure you wish to request a refund?"). I panicked a bit but was thankfully able to get on the phone with someone at Ace who was able to void the refund and restore the pass.
I e-mailed them suggesting they should really add a pop-up prompt or confirmation page to the Request Refunds button. An easily avoidable stress point.
what's the ace number?

Thanks for sharing! I'm still hoping this might mean they may have allocated more spots for public parking. :)
So how do people keep drinks cold in their car all day? I usually take an ice chest down with me from LA, but then the hotel refrigerators don't have freezers, so I can't use my ice packs after the first day.
There's another company called Space Parking (space.aceparking.com).I sugest you wait until the open sale to decide about attending
Is that the same as Ace?
They have parking at Pendry Valet and Petco Marriott Gaslamp Valet, which costs $120-$150 which is absolutely gross.
Parking has been a long-standing issue of this event that's not been fully address, that is literally the difference between going and not going. So I'm not going.

All Convention Parking is still open for all days, and remember you can only buy passes once, even it's only 1 day, when you purchase you can't go back in and try to get another pass for another day.
Can you buy passes for multiple locations at the same time? In other words, let's say that the convention center has spots open for two days, but another location has spots open for the other days.

No. Ace Parking lots close at night. Anywhere from 12AM -3 AM. You aren't technically supposed to stay overnight or they can tow your car if they want. The lots open back up around 5 AM.

@MrFunGuy (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=5048) Yes, I hope so too.
Honestly, it feels like the groups are smaller in size this year. There were so few winners overall. You can see Alyssa's analysis of it here.

It was given to me, I did not purchase any parking. And it's for Group 2.
@MrFunGuy (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=5048) Yes, I hope so too.Yeah, and I think we'll get a better idea of that by, say, Tuesday afternoonish once all the Group 3 folks are mostly set. IIRC in past years Convention Center & Hilton Bayfront have been available consistently for Group 1 & 2, and sometimes for beginning of Group 3. I'd say if there is still available in both next mid-week we'll be able to say with some relative certainty that the groups were smaller.

So just to confirm, Group 3 opens TOMORROW at 10 am, not today, right?
I just wanted to give a huge thank you to @Alyssa for helping me get parking; I'm a local, and now I'm a Pro, so the biggest worry for me is securing parking for myself, wife, 7 year old, and college kid (obvs one 'slot,' not 4, but we all carpool - just wanted to clarify in case anyone was wondering "wait - HTF did Alyssa get 4 parking slots?!?! :P ).
I also wanted to thank @Batgirl (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2205) who offered to help shortly after Alyssa did.
I've been around here now for 10 years, and like many of you I've been a part of various (sometimes rabid) fandoms of different genres my whole life; I can say without a doubt that FOCC has _CONSISTENTLY_ been the most helpful, even-tempered, chill LARGE group of people I've ever interacted with. Many folks here I've gotten the pleasure of meeting over the years, especially when I joined a line-up group five or so years, and everyone I've met in real life has been just as cool as they are virtually. I've scored parking, 4-day w/PN badges (before I recently achieved pro status), countless exclusives and swag, head's up on awesome events, and just about everything else one could imagine over the last 10 years thanks to folks on this group.
Fandom has gotten rather toxic online over the years, but there's not much of a hint of that around here. FOCC is the community many wish other corners of the internet could be: respectful, cordial, helpful, generally fun.
Thanks everyone for being you: may your last few weeks of planning be stress-free, your travel to my town as chill as possible, and your SDCC experience as fun as you hope it'll be!
And 3 minutes later, only Wednesday available at the convention center. So Group 3 people who were quick on the ball got convention center every day but Sunday.
Has anyone gotten this message when trying to buy parking? Is there a saved card in your account that they may be using?
This transaction could not be processed -Transaction Declined (51)
According to the internet, error 51 means insufficient funds but I have tried two cards - both of which have lots of funds and they keep getting declined by ACE but I have no problem using them for other purchases. Impossible to get through ACE or the Bank to talk to real people!
Is there a saved card in your account that they may be using?
isn't today the open reg? Oh wait, it's group 4 today?
Hmmmm…. Did they add more capacity or did they hold some back for Group 4?
Any word on how long convention center spots lasted?

Due to only being able to attend Con as a volunteer and other personal matters that have taken most of my time, I kinda put Comic Con on the back burner. Now Con is upon us. Is it possible to get last minute parking via Ace or the hotels? I am not really familiar with all this. The few times I have gone to Con, I have lived downtown, but now I live in the LA area. I am planning to stay at a friend's house who still lives in San Diego, but will be driving to Con.The general sale is tomorrow morning at I think 10am
Can someone post the link to the ACE Parking site for Comic-Con parking?
Is Diamond View Tower parking good? as in it's not too far from things? That is like the closest thing available that has all 4 days. Thanks
