UPDATE: The form is now closed. Results have been tabulated and you can see them here:
https://www.friendsofcc.com/2022/05/17/sdcc-2022-hotel-lottery-analysis/
*****
The form is ready. Please fill out the form!
https://forms.gle/umPiF3vTZ57KUVfe7
Anyone who has not already done so may fill out the form. If you did not get a response yet from OnPeak (or if you got an email stating that you are on the waitlist) you can also fill out the form.
***Original Post***
Some of you may recall that in the past, the FoCC Blog has written articles analyzing the hotel lottery results. Unfortunately, the author of those articles has not returned to FoCC since the pandemic began. As such, I'm going to attempt to fill his (very large) shoes.
After the hotel results come out, I'm going to attempt to gather data and write up the results in an article. Please look for a form link to fill out starting May 3.
One crucial component of this form will be your access time (including seconds) to the request form. Please determine that time NOW, so that we can have the most accurate data.
Here is some information from @SteveD (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3710) to assist in determiing your access time. You can also check out your browsing history for exact for access time.
If you're using the Chrome browser, there is a tool from nirsoft called chromecacheview that will show you the full browser cache.
For the entry timestamp, you're looking for a cache entry with a URL that starts with https://cci.onpeak.info/addRequest?q=.
For the submission timestamp, you're looking for a cache entry with the URL https://cci.onpeak.info/thanks.
Thank you!

@Transmute Jun (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=314) Just FYI, "chromecacheview" doesn't seem to be available on the Chrome Web Store anymore. I even tried to search for "Nirsoft" but came up with no results.

Unfortunately it seems those of us using iphones will not have reliable data. I have not been able to find a way to access time stamp on history from safari on iphone.

Ah thanks. I thought it was a Chrome extension, and so was looking at the Chrome Web Store, not an external utility. Unfortunately, the browser that got into the hotel form this morning was on a MacBook Pro, so I can't use that utility since it's Windows only.
-
Hmmmm, Browser history says 9:01 but no further details , so I'm not sure if it's rounding up or down.
I tried using Chrome cache view and switched the folder to my browser "Brave" and searched for "onpeak" but no luck
-
I was on my Mac, on Chrome. I don't speak computer, but this is how I got my data:
If I click on History on the toolbar at the top, and then Show Full History at the bottom. That opens a page with all my clicks from the day, in chronological order back to the morning. I can then see what time I logged into the waiting room, and when I submitted. I noted my entry time to the form when it happened. But this may help some get their submission time, at least.
-
I was using Edge and my sister got in on her phone browser, so unfortunately I can't provide second level detail, but we both got in before 9:01. (Edge shows me an access time of 9 am, but nothing in terms of seconds).
-
Unfortunately, it looks like I got in on my first form with Edge (I'm pretty sure) and I can't seem to find any tools or programs that will display more detailed information other than what I'm seeing as when I got into the waiting room. mscommunity says you can't do it default via browser settings either.
I can say though that I got in at basically the exact time my friend sent a discord message (stamped 9:00) that she'd gotten into the form. I remember I was checking seconds and thinking, "Wow there's still a good chunk of the minute left until 9:01," and I saw the window load the form. I was completely distracted after that, so I didn't think to record the seconds.
Sorry I can't give any further detailed information. The other option was that I got in using ie (yes, I had one of those open to just try it) and I'm equally clueless as to how to get info from that other than when I first landed on the site.
-
So I was able to get a more accurate time on my MacBook with Chrome. Steps (should work on Windows too):
- Open the history panel (CMD-Y on Mac or CTRL-H on Windows)
- Scroll to the first instance of "Comic-Con 2022 cci.onpeak.info"
- Right click on the timestamp (eg. "9:02") and click on "Inspect"
- A new window should open with the HTML markup, and you should see "Time accessed"
EDIT: Just found a simpler way. Do steps 1 & 2 as above, and just hover your cursor over the timestamp for 2-3 seconds.

Since Edge is a Chrome Browser, you can still use ChromeCacheViewer from NirSoft to view the cache.
Use edge://version in the address bar to find the Profile Path and use that to select the cache folder in the viewer.

Thanks for posting this- I was able to find my times on my macbook. I used Safari (old laptop it was the first browser that got in). Found the library in my HD and did a search for "history". Then I clicked the list view to show the times. It showed the access to waiting room and when got in to the form (and submit etc). This helped allay my worries. Got in a little quicker since I forgot to look at time. Keeping fingers crossed for all!

Unfortunately, while I was able to view my recorded Edge cache... I've come to the conclusion it must have been one of the last minute private windows I opened because I'm not finding the session anywhere for any of my browsers and I did get through and submit, there is a pdf of the confirmation. fml
It was nice to see that it seems that if you go into ChromeCacheView to select a different cache, they actually already had some hotkeys to options, Edge included. But yeah this is a big oversight on my part that it could have been one of the private browsing windows. I did those at 40 seconds before 9am and completely forgot about them after the fact.

Thank for the information SteveD I hadn't realised that Edge was a chrome Browser. Now I have been able to get the times for the first form that I filled out.
But I do have a question I have the following timestamp of 2.00.53 am AEST for https://cci.onpeak.info/addRequest?q=763c4c92-95df-404f-b964-8da683494748&p=5ea034b9-040b-42fd-905a-6467de01a93f&ts=1651161655&c=onpeak&e=cci22live&rt=Queue&h=0d14a2e83894fbf8128fe05bbaf7ed55
I then have this one 2.08.36 am AEST for https://cci.onpeak.info/addRequest
and then the final one at 2.08.36 am AEST for https://cci.onpeak.info/thanks
When I was completing the form I hit submit and then went on to my second form (access at 2.03.38 am AEST), after submitting that one at 2.08.20 am AEST I then realised that I didn't put in the dates for the first one, went back and added them and then pressed submit.
What do people think will be the time that they take as my access time?
-
I had Chrome, Firefox and Edge open. My first form opened up on Firefox at 9:02 PST according to the time stamp in the History tab; my thank you page has the time stamp of 9:04 PST.
Interestingly, though I didn't fill out the form itself, when I clicked to my other browsers, OnPeak had a little pop up letting me know that my session had started at "11:04" (really, 9:04 my time) and it wanted me to do the thing. I guess 'cause I was idle?
-
I used Firefox and according to my history I was in at 9:06, and out at 9:08.

First, let me say that you should be getting bonus points for entering your form at 2-oclock in the morning :o. That's shear dedication.
The time logged for your entry should be 2.00.53 no matter when you pressed the submit button, as long as it is within the 15 minutes allotted.
So, since you seemed to have submitted the form at 2.08.36, you should be fine.
Good Luck!

The big red button, aka the "Yes, please" button will popup when it is your turn to enter the form and your browser session is deemed to be "hidden". Typically, hidden means that you have switched to a different tab in the browser or you have minimized the window, but there could be other reasons to trigger that status.
I am uncertain as to which timestamp would be used in this scenario, whether it be when your session was selected or when you pressed the button. There is currently not enough data to determine which one it is. The cache timestamp would only indicate when the button was pressed and you subsequently entered the form, not when the popup occurred.
Maybe we could include this information with the other data if it is available.

Thanks its always a bit of a struggle doing the hotel lottery coz its on a weekday, but at least this year I got to work from home today so didnt have to be up quite so early lol.
Thats what I was hoping so will see what happens when I get the results on the 3rd

So the best I can guesstimate is based off of my times in 2019 which the actions were similar.
I only submitted one form that hit instant <= 30 seconds. My 2019 one was 34 sec & this was very similar. It went straight to the form, no loading time.

One of ours went in at less than 30 seconds. No exact time stamp.

Huh, interesting. I'd go back to check if there is a time stamp to confirm anything about it but I don't know if there would be anything since I didn't fill in the form? (In History I only have the time I entered the waitlist). I closed the page at the pop up. I could check if the little extension picks up anything a later? For Science?
-
So I don't have exact time stamps but one of my sisters says she got in pretty quick, like the little man ran across super fast for her, so I put her at around 9:01. I got in at 9:02 and some seconds and finished at 9:05. Another screen opened up at 9:05 and my younger sisters opened up around 9:07, which was our longest. We only submitted 3 forms so we didn't use the last one. I believe we all used safari so I don't think we'd be able to get the exact second in.
-
The one factor I have noticed is fast for all of us is very different. I don't know about everyone else here but I am always too nervous to look at the clock until I fill it out. Though if it took 5 mins to get in I am sure I would.
-
Edge was my first session that opened.

I used ChromeCacheViewer and I have an exact access time of 9:00:38. As my sister was on her phone, I don't know the exact time stamp for her request, but we were together during the sale and her page definitely loaded a few seconds before mine did.
-
It seems like many of you got in either instantaneously or within the first minute! I wasn't so lucky(and never have been)....I think I was let in around 9:04 on my iPhone. Hoping for the best.

I didn't get in until 9:06. Wish I'd thought to use multiple browsers.

My time clocked in at 1 min and 12 seconds.

53 seconds

Got in at 9:00:52; 9:00:56 and 9:01:30. Good luck everyone!!
-
I got in in the first minute, I am 100% certain of that because I saw the running man coming up, was leaning back, and before my I hit the back of my chair I was in... However, it took me 6-7 minutes to fill out the form. I did not get anything on my list. I did get the Westin but I have a medical scooter so not sure if that is going to work for me.

@Transmute Jun (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=314)
Could we make sure that we include the number of rooms, the room type(s) (Single, Double, Twin, Triple, etc.) and either the dates or the number of nights requested?
I would like to see if this had any bearing on what was eventually handed out.
-
No time stamp, but I got in within the first 45 seconds. Got my first pick, Hard Rock for two rooms with two queen beds each.

Please fill out your information on the following form. Please note, this form is for people who have RECEIVED hotels already. I'll repost this again on May 10 for people who get hotels in the second round.
-
Done!!
-
Thank you to everyone who has filled out the survey so far. We have some good results already! But the more data, the better. ;)
-
Done. Not sure of exact access time. I think it was around 1 minute and 30 seconds.
-
Just make the best estimate you can. All data is appreciated!
-
Survey submitted! I'm looking forward to this year's analysis. Accessed the form at 9:00:51
-
Nice!
Thank you everyone! The form will continue to be open this week, as we wait for the next round of hotel allocations.
-
No e-mail from onpeak in either round, accepted at 9:07.
-
Just finished the survey submissions. We did 6 requests total between all the adults in our group and only 3 heard back (1 last week and 2 today).
-
Those who are interested can fill out the survey here:
https://forms.gle/VfkBUX3D3SK3xQwP6
At this time, if you did NOT get a resopnse from OnPeak then you can also fill out the form.
-
Submitted! I only submitted results for one of my hotel request, can we submit results from our other requests? ex. I did some for friends.
-

Yes, if you have the information for multiple requests, you can submit for each request made. Every data point is useful!
-
Good survey, I just submitted my responses.
-
Got in between 09:02 - 09:04,
Got my first choice in the 2nd Round! :)
Residence Inn Downtown San Diego!
I may trade it for the Doubletree Downtown San Diego because my mom wants to come also, but I reeeeeaaalllly dont wanna give up this one! I like the accessability to the Train and the Shuttle, and the Little italy area around the corner
-
Seeing a lot of peeps getting stuff in the 2nd round (awesome!!)...this information, once collated, will be very interesting to see.
-
Yes, I'm hoping to get an article out next week, after the final waitlist confirmations go out on the 17th,
-
So we only need to fill out the form, correct? Should we also post in this thread the hotel(s) we got?

-

Yes (presuming that you ticked the box that requested the waitlist when you filled out the lottery form). I believe that the deadline to hear about the waitlist is tomorrow.
-
I did tick that box. This is confusing and a little frustrating.
-
Ugh. I definitely marked that I would like to be included on the waitlist, but have not yet received anything and I did check my spam folder.
I didn't get access to the hotel request list until probably 9:08-9:09 or so. Does everyone who requests get put on the waitlist and receive notification, or was I so late to the request list that I am completely out of luck?
-
I believe that everyone who didn't get allocated a hotel is notified....? But then, onPeak is very flaky.
-
Thank you, Jun.
Still nothing. From what I have seen online, there are quite a number of folks who are not receiving waitlist emails from OnPeak as expected. So frustrating!
-
It does sound like that. You may want to follow the discussion in this thread.

Great write up - thank you for sharing!
It also reinforces just how lousy my luck has been with Hotelpocalypse. Entry after 9:09! No email in either Wave 1 or Wave 2! No email for the waitlist!
However, I've had good luck and gotten a room at my first choice (admittedly, not a popular first choice) through other means every year. :)
-
This is the advantage with sites like this. When things are randomized, there will be years where you are lucky and years where you are unlucky. However, as a group, those who are lucky can help out those who are unlucky. We're really all just each others' big safety net. ;)
-
Thanks for all your hard work!!
And I always said that 9:02 (which has been my time in all but 2 lotteries) is cursed! But on the bright side we get a waitlist email (well some do but that's for another day).
-
Yep, I was writing how everyone got a waitlist email, then realized the mess that went on yesterday, and put in a qualifier... ;)
