I'm just curious how far along people are in the booking process

Hey, it's Corin from the CCI FB page.  I already booked the hotel for my boyfriend and I in early October.  It's in Mission Valley, but last year it worked so well, it took less then 10 minutes to get to the convention center and park underneath it.

I plan on going to Comic Con 2012 if I can get the time off work. Would probably get the cheapest place to stay as possible as long as it's in a reputable area and close to the Convention centre.

It will be my first time there if all goes to plan. Going down from Canada requires more planning and booking! Quite excited, actually.

Was planning to split a room w/ a friend but looks like I'm getting bailed on. The current plan is to save cardboard boxes from my recent move and building a shelter for myself.  With everything seeming to be a bit later this year w/ the Member IDs and then the badges, it could become tight trying to plan where to stay...

sleeping in line? eh?  ;D  Seriously tho, if you do end up doing that contact me.

I hope to facilitate room shares.  I know it's kinda, meh, but if you're the one setting up the room/apt then you get to pick & choose.
Look around for an apt you can cancel.

Not too worried about where to stay yet. It's still so early in the process and since I live in Orange County, at worse, it becomes a 1.5 hr commute but I am looking to try and find more affordable accomodations than I've done in previous years.  Will definitely frequent this site more often as info becomes available...

it seems to me the earlier you book the cheaper it'll be...

I've got a cancel-able place booked for $454 for 6 nites

How far out is the place? I usually end up just choosing the hotels and I think the majority of them either charge excessively or have blocked out the week entirely so the pickings are slim right now...

My reservations require a car

check last years hotel list & see if you can book a room in Hotel Cir  at one of the places on the shuttle route.

I am making a far trip to get to SD. I rather have my badge as top priority before anything else. =)

true, the key in your case, would be the ability to cancel the reservation.  there are those type of rooms/rentals etc

Same here.  If all goes well, it'll be a group of 5 adults (2 babies).  Ideally, renting a large condo would be ideal, but I don't want to do that until we get our tickets.  For sure we are renting cars (most likely 2 so we can accommodate 2 baby seats).  If everything works out perfectly, SDCC will be the last leg of our Vegas-->LA-->SDCC trip.

a condo would be ideal for my large group but ultimately besides registering for our badges we are somewhat lost when it comes to getting the hotel. everywhere is already booked or unavailable.
