If we want to take some time to go to the beach or the San Diego Zoo, what are some of the best ways to get there from a downtown hotel? We were initially at Hotel Republic, which although not as close to the convention center as our current hotel (Solamar), was only 1 block away from the trolley. Will the trolley get us there? Or would it be better to drive? Now that we are downtown, I feel like it would be harder for us to get out of the gaslamp in order to get to places out of the con scene like that. Anyone have any experience doing that?

If you don't want to use ride share, you can catch the 7 line bus at Broadway and 6th and take it towards University & College to get to the Zoo. It should be an easy ride.

Does anyone have experience riding the trolley from Old Town to Comic-con and then back at the end of the day?  I know it will be crowded - but is it manageable?

We actually preferred riding the trolley from that area rather than the shuttles.  They were crowded at times, yet they came on pretty frequent intervals.  And the trolley stops closer to the convention center than it looks like the shuttles will this year.

Disney is offering 6 months of Uber One membership for Disney+ subscribers.  It may save you a little on rides.

There is no need to load money into Pronto to buy the special Comic-Con passes, just open the Pronto App and, from the hamburger menu, select Manage, and then Add Passes. You can buy any number of days, and it is charged directly to your stored credit card.

For normal MTS rides, you would need to have money loaded onto your virtual Pronto Card.

My son installed the app and purchased the passes about an hour ago with no issue.

I'm pretty sure the sdcc passes are at a discount. They always were, in the past, cheaper than just buying single days.
