Poll; Did you get your 1st choice, 2nd? 3rd?

Finished submitting request by 9:04am and received my 3rd choice - Sheraton Suites Symphony Hall. Happy with that. 
I originally requested a triple room so we would make sure and not get stuck with only one bed as it's myself, hubby, and kidlet. Since this hotel's rooms are suites, I contacted TP about modifying the room type and thereby reducing the price. The rep advised that since my son is a minor they would not charge for him and changed my reservation accordingly. Reduced charge by $10.00 a night. So for those with minor kids, it doesn't hurt to double check about charges and hopefully save a few pennies!

Update...my Welsh friend and I have solved our problem. I didn't get any choice of room. He got booked into one we didn't choose in Mission Valley. I'm sure the shuttle service is excellent but due to a couple of medical issues with myself we really kind of needed to get something close. So I put on my detecting hat and went searching. Eureka...we got a room at the Indigo for probably an exorbitant amount of money but we're close and that's pretty great. We are both very happy now and even more excited for the Con. Wicked excellent!!!!

Working a theory I saw elsewhere. If you didn't get a room but submitted in the first ten minutes what time did you submit and how many nights did you request.

I was in by 9:06...submitted 10 hotels...one double room...10 nights stay. I got nothing.

Submitted my 20 choices by 8:06am and got my third choice downtown.  I took the 20 cheapest hotels and then prioritized them by distance with the shortest distance first.  My first eight choices were downtown and the remaining 12 were in Mission Valley.

The hotel I'm staying at (my third choice) is the Four Points by Sheraton (formerly Holiday Inn) San Diego Downtown.  My first two choices were The Bristol and The Sofia.

Me: 9:04am, 9 hotels (all gaslamp), 5 nights (Tues-Sun) --> nothing
Friend: 9:06am, 12 hotels (all gaslamp), 5 nights (Tues-Sun) --> nothing

I got a feeling it's because we requested a room with 2 beds.  I think most people did the exact same thing.


Has anyone gotten a call on the waiting list?  I would have assumed by now everyone who was able to get excess rooms canceled. 

BTW, I think I found a solution for me, if I can't get a hotel April 10th on the resale.

I submitted 6 hotels, had my application in before 9:03! And I got my first choice Westin Gaslamp Quarter. It was my first choice last year and I really liked staying there.

I almost did that as I initially misread the instructions.  Kinda wish I just submitted instead of giving the application a once over.

Got my 8th Choice - which was Hilton Bayfront, so I'm happy about that!  I was done by 9:04am.

Interesting, I was also done at 9:04 and got the Bayfront, but the Bayfront was my second choice.
