Catechie:
These are all wonderful suggestions. Ultimately up to you what you decide to do. The thing working for you is time. Time to develop some connections with people in the forum. Time to refund (check the deadline, and put a reminder on your phone) I don't know if I would spread a wide net to Twitter when you have time to develop and explore connections here. When I attended last year, I did a solo dash and it was a positive experience to weave in and out without looking back to find out if you separated from your crew. You have enough time to see if there are individuals with similar interests that you can meet up with. Keep in mind you aren't tied to any one person or group. I don't discount the beauty of the solo experience. Obviously being safe is always a must, so please consider that with any choice you make.

For me, a big part of the solo experience is meeting people in line. I always meet people in line. That's not as likely to happen if you are with other people talking amongst yourselves.

Going solo is like life.
You’re leaving the nest. Going out to explore the world. But you have the nest as your cushion in case you need it.

Right; oddly, the last couple years of joining a Line Group, I do shifts with my oldest kid but I often end up talking to people from the Group more (to be fair, I know a lot more about my kid than whomever I'm in line with :P )
