San Diego Forecast - let's talk weather
« on: July 06, 2018, 03:15:55 PM »
My arrival date is on the 10 day forecast now.  Looks like today it's around 100 degrees  :o  but it'll be cooling back down to the 70's the week of the con. No actual dates of the con are in the forecast yet and anything can change, but so far it's looking like this heatwave shouldn't affect most of us.

Anyway, just wanted to start a thread for fellow weather conscious people to complain and/or prepare and/or celebrate our fortunate change in the weather.

It’s so nice to know I’m not the only one who watches the weather like this. I must change out clothes in our suitcases 4 or 5 times as I watch the weather forecast.
It’s usually 100+ here in Texas so it can be almost cold in San Diego for us.

I was going to post about the hot weather today when I got home.  According to my car, the outside temp is 104F.  It's not the temperature that's the problem, San Diego is no longer the dry heat.  It's the humidity.  Like last year, it's like being in Thailand on a hot day.

I'm in Orange County now to escape the Phoenix heat, but it is 113 in Anaheim today and just 111 in Phoenix.  At least there's a nice ocean breeze I guess...  ::)

I was at the fire today for work. It was 115 out there and les miz all around. These freak heat waves are more normal and frequent these days and there's no ruling out one won't happen during SDCC, we will just cross our fingers b/c i. can. not. imagine.

I live in northern San Diego county. Hope it cools down in a couple weeks.  Right now it is still hot at ~8pm.

Our AC is still on.  Normally it goes off at 6pm and we open the windows.  Just checked the thermometer in the garage, 103 degrees.

It was that hot? It didn't feel that bad. I escaped the heat by watching Antman. It was supposed to be super hot tomorrow, but great news! They say it's going to be about 16* cooler. Whoo hoo!

Close but not quite. Vietnam was considerably more humid then SD today. I will admit tho, I was surprised at the sticky feeling today!

Year before last it was super humid during SDCC, and it was the year we stayed the furthest away (Hotel Z). Not a great combination! Plus, the shower at Hotel Z was low flow, so even after a shower, I still felt sticky. Then, Saturday morning the breeze blew in from the bay, and it was downright chilly (in comparison, anyway).

I had not started keeping an eye out on SD weather, but did hear about the extreme heat. I do have San Diego as one of the options on the weather widget on my phone. It's almost time to start watching it.

Ahh yes, the the dreaded heat from SDCC 2016.  That was unforgettable, and I hope the weather is more kind to us attendees this year 🙏

I depend on SDCC to be a break from that kind of weather for me! We are usually at a steady real feel of between 100 and 110 (because of humidity) when I leave here for SD. Even the years it's been 80+ at the con have been massive weather breaks for me.

Thiugh maybe being used to hot weather would give me an advantage in the lines. I also do hot yoga y'all. I can take it.

We've had some rain here so today is only 82 feels like 95.

One good thing about the whether is that those storm clouds off to the east that were around all last summer have moved up a bit and are causing some shade.  It's still hot but there's no bright sun to cause skinburns.
