Title: Godzilla - King of the Monsters! **spoilers**
Post by: marcia29 on June 04, 2019, 03:40:14 AM
We took 3 generations to the theater this weekend to see- 'Godzilla- King of the Monsters'.  Wooohooo.  What fun! This is the movie we have been wanting to see for ages.  Dolby added body-shaking effects.  Godzilla's distinctive roar was perfect.  Mayhem...everywhere.  Sweeping destruction.  Inane human choices.  Screen shattering monster battles.  Yes!  Yes. YES!  He reigns.  Long Live Godzilla- King of the Monsters!!!!

i saw it in dolby digital with the rummbling seats and loude sounds.

I enjoyed it- great monster fighting. But yeah- inane human choices-....unfortunately left me a little bored.  Glad to see godzilla be the hero tho!

Went last night because an early screening of Dark Phoenix I was going to attend was cancelled without notice. It wasn’t the worst Godzilla movie by far but the human element was distractingly bad. Monster action was good. I did find myself laughing at some of the dialogue and scenes. Perhaps it’s because I was already prepped for a disaster in Dark Phoenix.

I wanted to see Godzilla again - this time in IMAX, but sadly it has already been yanked out of the IMAX theaters in my area.   >:(  Will see it anyway, though.

Snoozefest. My son really enjoyed it, but I slept through at least half of it.

I usually like Kyle Chandler in most everything he’s in, especially Friday Night Lights series.......but I felt like he was over-acting in this one. Ken Watanabe was great. It was much better than the Matthew Broderick disaster but wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be

Yeah that’s not going to happen  ;D   Not until home release anyways.  I’m still waiting to go sit through and stomach Dark Phoenix

I loved the monster fights. I still don't quite understand some of the motivations / actions of some of the human characters, but eh, like Transformers, I'm not here for the humans, I'm here for the big towering monsters / robots battle it out. Every plot hole or questionable action, I JGWI (Just Go With It). Actually, JGWI is my motto for pretty much every genre show I watch nowadays. Main character wants to destroy the world then doesn't? JGWI. Avengers time shenanigans? JGWI. Bran the Broken? JGWI.

(Although side-topic, I could not JGWI the recent Netflix movie The Wandering Earth. That one defied all attempts to just ignore everything and enjoy.)
