FUNKO Fun Days
« on: June 20, 2013, 01:05:19 PM »
Has anyone ever done this before? Is it fun?
I am looking to go, but $60 seems a little steep, unless it's completely way awesome!!!

I've never done this, but I've heard you get at least $60 value in swag, plus a full dinner is included.

It's fun.  $60 is actually a good deal because every attendee gets a box of 3 limited edition Freddy Funkos Pop figures that are only available to Fundays attendees (the list price of SDCC exclusives are $15, and these are easily more desirable), dinner and drink tickets (2 last year).  Last year it was a make your own taco bar.  They announce the products for the next year and also have drawings and giveaways of a bunch of other stuff--other exclusive Pops, Wobblers, protos, etc, and usually everyone ends up with at least one other item.  Last year someone ended up with 59. ( ::) ) Many of the giveaways, especially near the end, are given to the "true collectors."  The term is unofficial but I've seen it used many times at their boards and it makes me cringe.  But essentially, if you have a ton of Funko items (and some people really do...like, almost everything that's been made since the company has existed), and have been to all of their events, then you are given more...in order words, the rich get richer. (Again,  ::) )  I can't roll my eyes too much though, because it is a good time and even if you don't win any drawings it's easily worth the price IMO.

Did this last year doing it again this year. I had a blast plus you get limited edition Freddie's (funkos mascot) every one got 3 last year. And awesome prototype of already produced characters. I heard this year has more attendees than ever before. Prizes, contests and give aways so your bound to leave with something. Got their late so I missed the food so can't comment on that. $60 was a hell of a deal for me.

How did every one do at this party? I came up with the Freddie pop joker, batman, and zombie. Also my table won the gold dumbo limited to 48 pieces.
Best part of San Diego Comic Con 2012 was waiting for My Little Pony Durpy Hooves for 6 hours with about 6 other fathers all getting them for their daughters.
