Comic-Con 2018 FAQ

Your assigned group number does not guarantee specific locations. The probability of getting parking at your ideal location is dependent on a variety of factors, including:
 1. The amount of inventory given to us to sell to the public by the venue. This may change year to year.
 2. The number of vendors who purchase parking. This may change year to year.
 3. The amount of people who participate in the lottery and allocated to each group. This changes year to year.
 4. The time at which you log in to the system compared to others and secure parking.

Just like with stock mutual funds, past performance is no guarantee of future results.  I remember a couple of years ago some people in Group 2 were able to purchase CC parking and that Bayfront took forever to sell out.

I was able to connect with one of the supervisors for Ace to discuss this situation and so let me summarize ...

(1) No one was able to log in to purchase parking passes earlier than 10 am plus/minus a few minutes. So this statement we've heard about people getting in at 8 am PST to buy I'm being told is false. They insist this to be true. So can anyone factually confirm/dispute this? Can you provide your email receipt that time stamps you bought before 10 am PST?

(2) No one outside of Group 1 was able to log in to purchases passes during this exclusive Group 1 time. So the statements of Group 2 or Group XX got in is false. Again, can anyone factually confirm/dispute this with evidence?

(3) They state it's just gotten that much more competitive. To begin they state 65% of Convention Center parking is bought up by exhibitors so it's very limited and the demand keeps going up. This we all know of course is true.

So unless someone can factually with evidence prove otherwise I guess I'll believe them. What choice do I have?!

Not sure if this will help anyone but parking is available at the Solamar through Parking Panda for $10 a day during SDCC.
The only thing is that you need to exit by 7pm.  :)

In response to 1, I can confirm I did log on and purchase passes at 9:54am with no problem.

I am not drinking the Kool-Aid as it makes no sense, since the numbers of exhibitors/vendors is almost the same every year.  No significant increase noticed.

Part of me would not be surprised if some exhibitors sold their parking passes or used them as trade bait (ie I'll get you a parking pass if you help grab some exclusives for us).

Just another example that CCI outgrew the convention center. No pie-in-the-sky expansion plans can help this.

Also, I got a call at 10 min before sale time to get in there because it had been live "for a while".

Suffice to say, 1 is definitely inaccurate. I have my parking purchase confirmation email that I bought for a friend, it shows 8:59am. Also, I was in the system much earlier than that. I just didn't buy cause I was doing things and didn't feel like there was a rush to buy (boy was I wrong, and yet lucky at the same time.)

For those that have helped others get a parking group this year, how did you work it? Considering that it's different than last year with the CC being on the account.

It's tougher this year, because you have to 100% trust that the recipient won't use the credit card on the account.

For the places I gave away, I gave the login info to the recipient and warned them to check and make sure that they entered new credit card info instead of using the 'stored payment method'. But I am trusting them on this... I have no way of preventing them from using my credit card to pay for it.

Would changing the payment method to a old prepaid visa gift card work to circumvent this? I used to do this to sign up for free trials in case I forget to cancel.
