Split the posts about Ace Parking from the "CCI 2015 GENERAL Registration Discussion Thread" and merged them into the "CCI 2015 Ace Parking" thread (just to keep it organized.  ^__~

Figured that the best place to talking about parking would be in the already existing parking discussion thread!  Ha ha.

My fault Zero, I take full responsibility.  I was the first one to bring up Ace in response to another poster's dread about the hotel lottery.   :-X

I was one of the people with extra charges last year. I got charged 22 times, at $100 each, which was $2,200 in charges! Fortunately, this was on a credit card, and Ace reversed the extra 21 charges before my bill was due.

Nope, they didn't do anything special for me, other than reverse the charges. I did get the parking though, and that's what mattered.

No. I believe the point is that they don't want people buying parking from Ace in lieu of parking through their hotel. They don't want people staying downtown to be purchasing the parking. Which makes sense - the people at downtown hotels should already be covered, so the limited parking spaces should go to people who are commuting in to the con.

My group and I will be commuting from Carlsbad and we plan on staying overnight in line at the convention center for most of the nights so it would be easier having somewhere we can park the car overnight

I agree, that would make it easier for people who want to go overnight lineups, but I don't think that is Ace's priority.

Besides, if they did offer overnight parking, you would have more people competing for the reserved spaces. For example, I will be staying at the Hilton Bayfront. I will have to park in their garage for for $32 per night. I would much rather pay $20 per day through Ace for the same garage. If I were allowed to buy Ace parking and stay overnight, I'd be competing for parking, as would a bunch of other people who didn't want to pay exorbitant hotel rates. This is of far more concern to Ace and CCI than people who want to camp out overnight for lineups.

UPDATE: 3/11/15.

Comic-Con 2015 Parking Permit Registration

Comic-Con Fans: This time around, we’re doing it differently. We want to provide the best experience possible and take the pain and pressure out of the process. So for this years sale, we’re going to a lottery based system.

How does it work?

Registration is easy. Send an email into [email protected] and you’re done.

Ace will collect entries until April 12th and then hold a random drawing to select the winners.

If your entry is selected, you will be guaranteed a spot at one of our Ace locations.

The lots will be filled in order as shown below:

Convention Center
Hilton Garage
Petco Lots (excluding Campus lot which will be closed for construction during Comic-Con)
Padres Parkade
Diamond View Tower
Horton Plaza
Gaslamp City Square

Entries will be selected at random up to the capacity of each location. If your entry is selected, you will receive an email back from us by April 15th. Included in that email will be details on how to purchase your permit at the location you were drawn for. If you choose not to purchase your permit, it will be forfeited.

You must register first at the email above in order to be included in the drawing. Entries by phone, writing or through other email addresses will not be considered and only one entry per account will be considered.

The locations in the list above are the most sought after locations and therefore they are the ones that will participate in the lottery. Following the sellout of the lots above, the system will be opened to the public for purchase of any remaining inventory.

Ace values our customers. This year we hope to provide a better experience and take the pressure out of the process. We believe this new lottery system is the best way to make that happen.

Sincerely,

Ace Parking

It seems like everything regarding SDCC is lottery based now  ::)

I don't like/trust that all you do is send an email. They couldn't set up a form? What if an email gets lost? Or deleted?
