Have a question! So, for the last two years a couple of friends and I have been like in the front of the line to get into the exhibit hall for the Marvel booth, like we were maybe 5th or 6th in line, but every time we try to get there the line is already full. Could someone perhaps explain how that is happening? Is it people who already work in the exhibit hall beating us or what?
Lots of rumors about that.it's not uncommon for security to let people in to the lobby doors earlyish so tons of people get in before the upstairs alpha line snakes down and into the hall. Also that line enters at the far end of the exhibit hall, so if security in the lobby lets people in right at 10am those people have a shorter walk going to Marvel booth. I think security isn't supposed to let people in the lobby right at 10, and are suppose to funnel attendees upstairs right off the bat; but not all do that.
I personally think it is vendors.
Keep in mind there is more than one entrance to the floor.
Security is not in sync when they start admitting people to the expo floor.
So it is possible another line was let in first.
Chances are, if I wait in a long line only to get nothing, I'm going to be upset in addition to having several hours wasted.
But the reality of failure is what makes the success so rewarding.
my daughter was asking me today about getting an autograph for GoT this year. so i was wondering how does HBO/GoT do their autographs?WB Booth
i dont remember seeing them with all the other drawings for autographs so im not sure.
thanks
Sometimes I see people lining up for comic signing like Jim Lee at the DC both with a stack the size of 3 phone books. This leads me to open a question about signing etiquette. Would it be frowned upon to bring a giant stack of comics to get signed by my favorite writer/artist? Or should I go easy on them and those behind with 3-5 comics instead?

Wouldn't it be easier to try to win an autograph session if they did this online? The manual proceeds seems a bit antiquated.
Wouldn't it be easier to try to win an autograph session if they did this online? The manual proceeds seems a bit antiquated.I will say I have little trust in online drawings. The randomized engine is where I draw my concerns and there is no telling what the outcome really is. I participated in an online draw for NYCC a few years back and had no luck for the 10 offerings after many, many attempts. I have much better success in person.
WB autograph lottery is hard to not pull a winner so the popular ones go fast. Fox autograph is just pure luck a lot of losing tickets there.yeah the WB drawing is easy unless it is close to the end of them running out of winning tickets but if you are at the front of the line, we have always got a winner.

I once drew a loser at WB and the guys said, "That ticket seems faulty!" and grabbed it from my hand and threw it on the floor then said I should take another LOL. I think they really just want everyone to win so it's over and done with.Lol. That's funny, no losing ticket here. I once pulled a losing ticket and the guy looked at me like wow dude come on
We tried Walking Dead autograph tickets and I don't think I saw anyone around us pull a winner, we went thru the line several times and didn't get a winner so my tip is not to do it get in line for panel insteadwhere is that at, you drew for tickets for TWD? at there booth or the sails pavilion? we might try this year.

I dunno I've always had good luck with Fox as long as you are near the front. I find that the less popular signings tend to churn out more winners. One year when they only had one show left they just started giving them away to the next people waiting in line.My daughter loves Teen Wolf so one yr we tried that line, she was smaller so I made her go ahead of me and they lowered box to her and I stole a quick glance to see where some of the winning tickets were. I reached in and didn't shuffle around, at that point I figured my odds was pretty good and I got a winning ticket for her. Point is if you have little kids let them go first and take a quick glance when box is lowered.

True, but last year they did not have the boxes with papers -- it was a bag with either a black checker (winner) or red checker (loser). I'm sure they would still help a kid out though.Yeah it seems like everyone helps out the kiddos and that's great. Taking a peek in the box as its lowered for the kids is just a tip and can be used to increase your odds. The Walking Dead had the bag type, they would shake it up and hold the bag up high. Lol

I agree about Fox being easy at the front. We were near the front last year on Saturday and went three for three on pulling winners. Last year it was pull a colored checkers I believe. Then pick the show you want. On Saturday Gotham was first to go. Then Simpsons and Last Man on Earth werent too far behind. Also keep in mind that Fox is really late in doing their autograph pull as opposed to WB or Hasbro/Lego drawings.ive had good luck with both fox and the wb autograph drawings but i have always been pretty close to the front of the line.
Just a question, if i camp out say around 3 or 4am for the flash CW autograph, i'm not sure when the line actually starts moving, but can my wife and baby come down later when they wake up to join me in line or is it like the Hall H wristbands? I want my wife and baby to have a good nights sleep but we all love the flash and all of us, including my son, will have on flash outfits, lol. Do they do the autographs that same day? I read the posts and it seems the closer up you are the better your odds - makes sense the closer up the more winning tickets still available. This will be my first attempt at getting an autograph, any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks and lets have a great Con!!!!

Thanks and lets have a great Con!!!!1st off if you want to get CW flash autograph, camping out at 3/4am wont be early enough i dont think. Last year we camped out because my daughter wanted a flash autograph, and it seems like everybody in the front of the line(were we were at) wanted a flash autograph, so it sold out fast. So i think this year won't be any better, i think it will be even worse. And yes the autographs are the same day, sometime before the panel or even after the panel. For the everything else line(which is the autograph line as well), if you let people know in front and behind you that your wife and baby will be joining you in the morning you will be fine.

Also a good rule of thumb for new folks attempting autographs for the first time at SDCC is to manage expectations. A win is a huge accomplishment and you will cherish the opportunity to meet your favorite stars. On the flip side if you do not pick a winner go back to the end of the line quickly and do not loose your cool. Relax and enjoy the experience.
thanks for the input everyone, very helpful. oh, so once they let the outside line enter the pavilion upstairs for another line, no one else can join you?
thanks for the input everyone, very helpful. oh, so once they let the outside line enter the pavilion upstairs for another line, no one else can join you? This one is touchy for your situation but this may appear as line cutting in some eyes from folks in the line and security. Some folks try to jump into the line after they do a draw on another line
Does anyone know in general from the last couple years when approximately does CCI let the everything else line in from the outside to enter the sails pavillion for autographs? Thanks.around 7am the line starts moving to inside the sails pavilllion.
Can some one refresh my memory on how the Entertainment Earth signings were done last year. Also if you did one of them, what are your tips or tricks, thanks.I never did it there myself but if memory serves me correctly you have to purchase an item then you can participate. If no one else here has info then it would be a good idea to ask someone at the booth. Be aware that this both has long lines so plan accordingly.
Hi everyone,
Quick question about Marvel TV autographs (which was touched on briefly in the first page of this thread) ? so all drawings will be done at the booth and since it?s first-come-first-serve I?m guessing getting into the main Exhibit Hall line ASAP (either wee morning hours or camping out there overnight) would be best?
I tried going for Agent Carter last year and was flummoxed as to how the line was capped when I got to the booth as soon as the exhibit hall opened (was probably about 9:35-9:40 when I got to the booth). I kinda want to try for Agents of Shield this year so would love any strategies/suggestions.
Thanks!
One thing to keep in mind is that signings for blockbuster movies may not be as pleasant as it sounds. A couple years ago I was one of the first few to enter the Sails Pavillion autograph line. Madmax was on the top of my list and I was fortunate enough to draw a winning ticket. As soon as it was time to get the signing, the studio announced that the entire cast had last minute changes and couldn't make the signing. So no Charlize and Tom Hardy! Bummer! At least we were able to meet the director who was probably the most down to earth person I've met at SDCC. Bottom line is you have to decide which movie/show signings would most likely have the cast on board and whether you would be okay if a few, if not all don't show up. So far, tv shows have never disappointed. That is a good point. Cast attendance is subject to change so it is a good idea to prepare yourself mentally in the event someone is not able to make it but also still be happy you had an opportunity to interact with those who are there.
Yeah I got passes for the Animated DC movie cast signing last year since Micheal C Hall was suppose to be there....but he didn't show up last minute...womp womp.

Meeting the director of Mad Max would be a cool experience.
In one of my experiences for the first Divergent cast signing they were swapping cast in and out during the signing (this was for the supporting cast not the main). I missed out on Zoe Kravitz when she rotated out but I was happy I got Maggie Q since I am a fan of her work.
Tip - go to the booth the day before to ask where the line might start and make sure you go to that side first to see how the line wraps. That way you can find the end rather than jumping around searching.
I've attempted the Marvel autograph signings for the past 2 years (both times camping out and getting in line the evening prior) and never had the opportunity of even lining up for the autograph drawings since by the time I reached the Marvel booth, the line was always capped. Exhibitor bypass is definitely an issue and I'll say it time and time again: Marvel really needs to move their autograph drawings to the Sails Pavilion. However until that happens, my best advice for you is to camp out and gauge what the Marvel autograph lineup for that day is. If it's anything like 2014 where Marvel scheduled the Agents of SHIELD, Avengers, and Ant-Man drawing on the same day, then you best be prepared to camp out since people will definitely go for that. If it's possible, I would also suggest trying to lighten what you're carrying once the line starts moving inside because ideally you would want to move fast across the exhibit hall to hit the Marvel booth. I made the same mistake of carrying too much stuff and couldn't move as fast as I could. Also even if the line is capped, the booth workers do open the line for a millisecond to let more people in so just keep an eye out for that. What I personally do is that I just stick around the Marvel booth during the autograph sessions and I've been able to get pictures with several Agents of SHIELD cast members and get their autographs as well.
for the walking dead how do you get an autograph ticket? they don't do a drawing in the sails pavilion, right? hoping to get 2 tickets, me and my wife.
That have the drawing constantly at their booth usually all day Thursday and the morning on Friday. You have to be able to get in the line for their booth, which is perpetually capped and hard to get into, then when you get to the booth you draw a ticket and let me say winning tickets are VERY rare. I've never gotten one and I've only ever seen someone else draw a winning one ONCE. It's really the hardest one to get in all of SDCC.....well, other than Marvel which as people have reported is always capped before any actual attendees get into the hall.ok thanks at least i know where to go, and what to do to at least try to win a ticket.
For example, after you spend some time gazing forlornly at the inaccessible Funko booth, just look to your left and you will see Marv Wolfman at his Artists Alley table. He is a hugely important figure in comics history and helped create a slew of characters and great stories. Last year he was selling copies of scripts and some prints related to stories he wrote, I'd really encourage you to stop and say hi to a person who had such a key role in laying the foundation for the fandom we all love.
Just saw Jim Davies will be there. Has he done SDCC before and if so any of you have any info on how eady he is to get an autograph and or if he charges.
Question, I'm thinking about trying to get a Stan Lee autograph at the con but I'm unsure how it works at the Stan Lee Colectables booth. I saw something about a ticket, but does anyone know if it's one of those buy something tickets or do you go to the Sails Pavilion or booth for a drawing? Thanks!
You have to buy tickets for the signing at his booth.
Thank you for bringing up artists CCD. This topic is certainly more than celebs, actors, and directors.
I did a few authors during SDCC like Veronica Roth. I call it the valley of book publishers - if you go down those aisles you can certainly snag a few books and author signatures. Tip there is to find out if the publisher of the book is there and then swing by the to booth to see the singing schedule. Sometimes a purchase is required. The lines can be long for some authors and in my experience it was fun.
All right any idea on the price range usually is? Thanks again.

Usually no purchase is required for authors. Even people such as Jim Davis usually have art sheets/prints to sign for free.
Another good place to get author autographs is in the Sails, usually on Subday. This us 100% free if it us a CCI signing. Usually big groups of authors will sign after their Sunday panels. This is especially good for kid and YA book authors.
I hope so, I guess I'm thinking of a recent signing by GRRM where you had to buy a calendar to get a ticket that would get you one signature, or one of Evangeline Lilly's signings last year where she would only sign the book being promoted.
Remember, I think SDCC contract mandates all artists to sign the program for free, even if they are charging for other things
Has anyone gone through getting tickets for signings at the Starz booth? Is the procedure pretty similar to the other booths? Get there early in the morning for the line to get tix?
I thought that only applied to the people at the autograph tables in the Sails, not those at commercial booths on the floor?
Would anybody know how Mattel runs its autograph sessions? I really want to go to the New Day WWE signing on Thursday but I'm not entirely sure how their process works.

I could be totally wrong on this but I would imagine that you just line up for the signings at Mattel's booth (the area where they display upcoming product and not the Matty collector sales booth).
If the autograph session being mentioned, mentions the panel title does that mean you get the ticket for the autograph session at the panel? (wants to get Marissa Meyer's autograph)i would like to know this as well, as my niece would love to get her autograph. i know she is going to the panel for sure.

How do wristband signings at the Dark Horse booth work? They've got Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion on Saturday, so it's a moral imperative for me to at least give it a try.
Sails Pavilion autograph schedules are out on the CCI website!Looks like they do another signing at 3:30. Maybe that'll work better for you?
I'm in a bit of pickle though since I really want to go to the Steven Universe panel at 10:15 in the Indigo Ballroom but the autograph drawing to meet the cast is at 9am. Gahhhh decisions!
Newbie here, are all autograph sessions drawn by lotto? Or would I be able to just line up for someone like G. Willow Wilson?Last year I just lined up for Lev Grossman. I think if there's a drawing then the drawing shows up on the schedule. Or, for example, I noticed on Stan Lee's description it said you had to visit a booth and get a ticket.

First time in this thread. Thisll be my third year, but ive never done autographs before. My friend (first timer) wants to get in line for the man in the high tower signing. I know we gotta line up somewhere in sails but i dont know how early to line up. I think the signing is at 9am er 10am. Are there any tips er tricks to this? Help! ;DThe signings are later in the day. The lottery draw is at 9 some people say line up at 6 some say earlier. Not sure if Man is going to be popular or not (I'm hoping not as I want that auto too lol)

This will be the first time I line up for the drawings, but I wonder, are there separate lines for each signing or is there just one general line to pull and then you choose your signing when you win?
If you are asking about Fox or WB then yes its one line.

Sorry, should have been clear. I'm going for one of the Limited Draws, Steven Universe.

WB/CW gives out really nice holographic bracelets for their autograph signings, while others just give you a ticket or a paper wristband.
Hey Vapors are you planning to attend the autograph drawing and the panel? I'm figuring out a game plan to see what's the possibility of participating in both.
I really want to get to the Dark Horse booth early on Thursday or Friday for a wristband for some of the limited autograph session. I'm pretty nervous, I've never attempted a lottery like that before.
What's the fastest way to get to the floor? Is it the snake upstairs? Or should I stand outside the building near one of the entrances.
If I don't draw a successful wristband, I'm definitely getting back in line until they run out. :/

Actually Amazon was at sdcc last year.i remember hand of god doing a drawing, didnt realize that is an amazon show. thanks
They did signings for both man in the high castle and the series hand of God.
The tickets were part of the sail pavilion lottery. It is separate from WB and fox.

Sails pavilion is gonna be faster than waiting outside.
I'm in the same boat. Its basically a choice between the panel or meeting them for the autograph for me. You might get lucky and get the signing AND make it to the panel since I don't know what the Indigo room line will be like in the morning.
I hate to ask a kind of vague question but I need an answer sooo what time do the drawings in Sails usually start?

Has anyone done any cast signings from the IDW Booth before? I'm interested in the Wynonna Earp cast signing but I'm not sure if it's ticketed or not. I've done signings at booths that hold the lottery in Sails but never anything like IDW, so I was wondering if anyone had any idea of how the process worked? Like is it a lottery or is it just first come first serve? Thanks!
I did a signing at the IDW booth 2 years ago and it was first come first serve. I think they still do it that way but i would ask at the booth ahead of time to be sure. I also want to go to the Wynonna Earp Signing and i am going to ask at the booth Wednesday night to be sure how they are working it.
Does anyone know where to find out which signings are ticketed? We're wanting Nichelle Nichols, and I know the EE booth were she appears is ticketed, but the Sails booth where she appears says nothing. The signing in Sails is walk-up and for a fee.
How do you find out who's ticketed or not?
I tried for Ash vs Evil Dead last year. They had us line up and pick a piece of paper out of a bag where you won a tshirt, a hat, an autograph ticket or nothing. It was difficult to get a winner because a) the line took forever and b) there were hundreds of papers in the bag.
I have no idea if they will do it the same way this year. My advice is to go to their
Booth thursday morning and ask. Thats what I did.

The EE booth signing is free, in Sails expect to pay $50 or more
For entertain earth - I would have a photo ready for the celeb. You can buy stuff from entertain earth but it might not be something you want or at a price point you like.
Also, you will submit a request for an autograph from their online system. They will email you an hour or so before the signing to let you know you are a winner.

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize EE was a lottery/raffle type situation, I thought it was first come first served.

Does WB provide something to be signed? I want to try for iZombie, but I don't have anything iZombie related. I know they said they'd be giving out postcards for the different shows at their booth as freebies, do you think that for each show's signing they'll have that show's postcard available?Yes, they usually give you a special poster.

Hi All! Last year was my first time at Comic Con and it's safe to say I was completely overwhelmed. By the time I realized that I needed wrist bands and tickets to meet cast members and get autographs it was already Sunday. I wanted to see if someone could specifically explain to me what needs to be done.
From what I can gather, if you want to get autographs for Friday you need to get to the convention center at around 3 or 4 am and get into the 'Everything Else' line. Where is that located?
At around 7am CCI open the doors and let people in. Are they letting us into the main floor or into the Sails Pavilion?
Then, say that you want Joss Whedon's autograph, do you head to the Dark Horse booth on the main floor and then get in line there?
Say that you want the cast of Game of Throne's autograph, do you go to the HBO booth on the main floor? Or do you go to Sails Pavilion? If you pull a winning ticket, do you get to tell the person what show you want or do you get a ticket for every show?
And then, what if you do get the winning ticket, can you go to another booth and try again for another signing?
I'm just very confused, please help !
Thank you!
From reading it, I thought you needed to go into the main hall and find the individual booths, get in another line and then try and win a ticket/wristband, but you're saying that everything is inside of Sails? If you do pull a winning ticket, is it just one, so that if you are with another person they can't come?
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to answer! I feel like I missed out on so much last year and if I'm lucky enough to get tickets this year I want to try and do more
Where would I go to line up for WB or any of the other studio for autographs? Is it in the back or the front of the Convention Center?Front line

Someone told me that the whole system is changing for the distribution of the wristbands for the autograph signings but I can't find any info online. Does anyone know anything about this?
What are the chances of pulling a good ticket for The 100 if I get there at 5 p.m. the night before and wait overnight? I really want to do autographs with the cast but the whole lottery system worries me a bit. Wondering if I'd be better off to do the panel instead.
Someone told me that the whole system is changing for the distribution of the wristbands for the autograph signings but I can't find any info online. Does anyone know anything about this? There is nothing verifiable to go on at this stage and after some checking I did I would not put too much stock in rumors until the press release from the studio saying otherwise. Generally WB and Fox announce their plan a week or two before the con. I also suggest checking with the folks at the both the day before to confirm their arrangement.
My only wish for this year's con is Marvel changing their drawing , it is not fair to wait an entire night just to see a vendor get a winning ticket before you... hope one day marvel realize that they have to move to sail and do something like WB or FoxYep, Marvel definitely needs to change how they do autographs. It's a joke.

Autographs are really hard you really have to sleep in line to even get a chance we tried for 4 years to get supernatural autographs and finally got it last year its devastating when you pull a ticket and dont get it but its the greatest feeling in the world when you finally get it this year I want to try for marvel wish me luck!!!
I was fortunate enough to bump into big names randomly very early in the morning for coffee at Starbucks and cafes like Broken Yolk. I typically play it lowkey cause i don't want to scare them off. You'd be surprised to see so many stars unrecognized by their early morning looks. Just keep your eyes peeled on your breakfast run during SDCC/

Bring a kid. They like kids. They let kids keep picking until they pull a winning ticket. I swear I'm gonna bring my 2 year old and dress her up as Spider Gwen and use her in their autograph line. No shame. (Kidding...but we joke about it all the time.)yeah my daughter figured this out, so she likes to bring her younger brother with her all the time for autograph drawings. not sure what she is going to do when he gets to big. LOL ;)

When it comes to Marvel, you also need to be at the right place at the right time when it comes to autograph sessions.
Last year I went to the Marvel booth during the Black Panther signing with the intention of just taking a picture of Chadwick Boseman. The signing for those who won tickets actually went by pretty fast so they started pulling people from the crowd (and they took quite a lot). I happened to get chosen and was able to get a signed poster from him.
(And as a general rule, always be nice to the Marvel booth workers in these instances. Patience is the number one key if you want to get picked)

Last year I was in line for WB drawing, and when I got to the front, I kept saying please please and was super excited, and they gave me a wristband even though I didn't get a winning ticket. Hopefully it works again this year :)There was a situation where they were doing that due to the sheer length of the line. The line ran all the way down past the Hyatt and they were trying to move things along.
There was a situation where they were doing that due to the sheer length of the line. The line ran all the way down past the Hyatt and they were trying to move things along.
This was a rare event because they had 13 drawings for the one line.
Don't want to rain on the parade but there are many people in the line who could have lost and would not have understood what the situation was. It is, after all, a drawing and there are losers - I can attest being on the recipient side of a losing draw however I was gracious in my setback but it did not mean I was given a wristband. I went to the end of the line and tried again.
My experience with the Marvel booth is that they open their line before the general public has reached their booth. I've been at the front of the Sails line and I reach the Marvel booth with their line already capped.Yes this is true I've been at the front of line to get onto floor but when we get to booths on the floor for autographs they are all capped. I wanted the Deadpool VHS from Fox booth but they were already capped, I don't know where they came from I assume they were all vendors. If you want to have a chance at autographs do the drawings in the Sails pavilion.
I've had OK luck being selected from the crowd to enter during the signing. Last year I was pulled from the audience for the Luke Cage signing and a few years back I was pulled onstage for a Castle signing.

So we drew tickets for our 1st choice and won, and then we told them we also wanted lucifer wristbands, so we got a 2 for 1 that day. luckily i myself love lucifer, my wife watches it off and on.

Wish I would have known that, but good to know now.It is all reactionary and being in the right place at the right time. I only go for the autographs I want. For example I do not watch Lucifer so if it were me in that situation I would pass on it in the hopes that a fan gets the wristband after me.

Sails Pavilion last year on Saturday was insane. Me and my buddy waited in the everything else line from around 3:45 am. When we were led through the convention center and made our way to the WB autograph line in the back, there was way over 1,000 people in the line. This blew my mind considering there was not that many people ahead of us in the general line in the early morning. Do people cut the line when the volunteers aren't paying attention? Did anyone else experience the same thing?
I second all of those talking about the Marvel booth autograph drawings. Jumped in line at 3:15 am on Friday morning hoping to pull for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. By the time I booked it to the Marvel booth, line was already capped.
For those of you that got pulled into signings by waiting near the signing area, is it completely random? I feel like I stand a better chance getting a close spot for S.H.I.E.L.D. signing and hoping I get pulled into the signing or am close enough to get a picture/autograph as the cast walks by.

I'm also curious about this. People with WB success - can you speak to this? Are there tips tricks for getting a place in that line with a decent chance at winning?
Does anyone have any experience or tips on how to get into autograph sessions held at the FOX booth? Thank you!
Similar to other lottery ticketed signings. Line in Sails the morning of the signing to draw out of a bag to see if you win a ticket or not.
Isn't it the Fox autograph line that lets you into sails, but makes you wait two hours until the hall actually opens to draw for wristbands, whereas the other major signing line draws immediately so that you can go on and get back in line for the exhibit hall? I can never remember which one is which.Fox is generally the latter table to start but you can never tell these days.
Fox is generally the latter table to start but you can never tell these days.
So I see they have a Riverdale signing going on Saturday. I want to try and get a wristband for the signing. I see it says "All ticket drawings and wristband distributions will take place in the morning of the day of the specific signing at the Sails Pavilion floor, between Ballroom 20 and Rooms 6A, 6BCF and 6DE." So how exactly would that work? Are there certain lines for each show that has an autograph session? What's best time to line up?All WB signings will be in one line. When you approach the front of the line they will have a board posted with what is available for drawing. Hopefully by the time you get there your desired signing has availability for drawing. If it does You tell the security guard (if it is the same person - he is a super nice guy) at the beginning of the table which show/movie you are drawing for - you will then proceed to the area of the table where the bag is for that show/movie to draw.

The process is fairly quick and efficient once you get up to the table.
Awesome thanks. How early should I line up in the morning? I was there last year and lined up at 5 am in hopes of getting to the funko line but was not even close.
You should probably be in-line before 5 am. My buddy and I were in the everything else line from around 4 am and by the time we got to the front of the WB area where you draw for autographs, most of the shows were gone already. While you're waiting, you will hear updates about shows that are no longer available to pull for.
There were 16 WB signings last year Saturday and when I got to the front of the line, only 6 were left to draw for. Riverdale was one of the six still available but now that they have a full season under their belt, maybe more people will try for their signing.
I also feel like a ton of people cut in line so that could also work against you even if you decide to wait very early in the morning.
The lines confused me last year. I was told to wait outside before doors opened. I ended up by the dock where the boats were. By the time we got inside almost everything was gone. What is the everything else line?
There are two main lines outside people line up in: Hall H and "Everything Else." Everything Else line is basically Ballroom 20, Sails pavilion, exhibit hall , other panel rooms, etc. When they let this line inside (usually early in the morning) everybody disperses to what they want to do first thing.
Does the Terrace line still happen for Sails? When I was heading for a Conan Funko at the MGH I saw a few people complaining to security trying to head up the stairs.
Absolutely not. They are not supposed to let anyone up those back steps.
Where was Everything else line last year?
Does anyone know how the Cartoon Network signings work? Do you need to get a ticket in Sails in the morning?
Thanks
quick question for the john barrowman autograph signing, is it a drawing for a winning ticket like the WB autograph signings?Yes

Last year I wanted to go to the John Barrowman signing for the Torchwood comic. We asked in advance and I asked at the sponsoring booth during the con... even the day before the signing. They all said to just show up in the Sails, first come first serve. But when my husband got there to line up for us, it was a lottery drawing... completely unannounced. So he texted me and I had to dash there to line up for the lottery, which started way earlier. Fortunately, I won, and a nice person in line gave an extra ticket to my husband. So I would assume that no matter what they say, there will be a ticket drawing somehow for John Barrowman this year.that sucks, glad it worked out for you and your husband.
Any recommendations about how early do i have to line up for teen wolf autographs at friday? Really...Really want it this year :') !5pm the night before, and im serious. If you really want it. maybe 8pm the latest. i think midnight would be too late. this is just my opinion though.

All of CN signings are in the Sails Pavilion this year. All limited too. Thanks for the 411

Wow seriously? That true for all major panels? Like DC Justice League etc.? I didn't know those were like Hall H level lines...
Not sure what "major panels" you are talking about, but the Cartoon Network produced shows (OK Ko, Steven Universe and Ben 10) will be done in limited fashion in the Sails. The DC/WB shows like Justice League Action and Teen Titans Go are done through the WB process. I don't think popularity is a factor here. I think the Cartoon Network folks just didn't want to deal with the hassle and logistics of doing the signings at their booth and farmed it out to SDCC to make things simpler for them. With the exception of Steven Universe, I don't expect the Cartoon Network lines to be crazy. DC/WB? Who knows.
Sorry I quoted the wrong comment haha. I was curious about the comment about people lining up at 5pm the day before for Teen Wolf. I meant to as about that - thinking of the large DC signings (like Justice League). People have any ideas from past similar DC stuff - is that an overnight commitment? I don't think I knew it was that hard core if that's trueAssuming you mean the live action movie, even a shot at pulling for a ticket will absolutely require a incredibly long campout. That, alongside Avengers: Infinity War (assuming there is a signing for that), are probably going to be the two hardest to get signing tickets of this year's SDCC.
haha - I didn't know there was anything on par with Hall H in terms of lines. Always thought autos were an early morning at most type thingHave you heard of Funko....
Have you heard of Funko....
Haha yes - the toy collection thing feels like it's own separate insanity, wasn't thinking of that but fair point
I experienced the exact same thing waiting for WB!
Spent the time in the everything line, overnight, and the line for WB was over 1000 deep by the time I got to the sails! That was probably my biggest disappointment of SDCC 2016!
Hello! Just found this board in my search for help/answers. This happened to me last few times ive tried for wb supernatural tickets. Last year especially because i asked multiple staff, volunteers, security and other con goers where/how it worked. Camped out overnight was in chute 2 near front but when let in the line was already down the stairs and to the docs. How?! Theres no way there was that many ahead of me. Needless to say i didnt even get a chance to draw as everything was gone by the time i got up there. Is there another line behind sails for overnight campers that isnt "everything" line? Im starting to think this may be the case.. i dont want to not follow the right procedure but i also dont want to miss out, again. I plan to camp out but i want to be in the right place. This year i really want shadowhunters wristband and any help tips would be appreciated. Please please anyone help me :(You followed the right procedure. There is only one line that is let in and you were on it. I agree it can be frustrating when you reach Sails and the line is that long after you put in that time.

eta: Looks like it isn't yet. Has anyone had experience with a group signing changing to a ticketed one? How does that come about-do you show up, and with no warning, they are having a lottery drawing?
Which booth is running shadow hunters and which day? I don't see how that won't be ticketed. I'd ask about it the minute I got to Con and make sure. You can ask at the Autographs desk in Sails if it's a Sails signing, if it's a booth signing, go to that booth right away and ask them how it's done.Shadowhunters is ABC/Freeform. They list the panel as a group signing at 4:30 in AA04 in Sails on Thursday. From my experience, those are just show up and get in line. However, some mentioned above that it sometimes changes last minute, so I wondered how that happens. I just wanted [member=7442]Black_magicat[/member] to have all of the information necessary.

I agree-they should check first thing and see what's up, but I am not sure how/where they would do that, in this case.
DH is going to try for a different group signing first thing Thursday, so I also have some stake in finding out how changes come about, too! :)

I will try (even if it's not ticketed) for shadowhunters in thursday at the morning... if its not ticketed then I'll try a shot at Funko .. that's my plan, I know that Funko is really hard but im praying to the good cons right now! lolIf it isn't ticketed, then it will be at 4:30 in the afternoon. Or do you mean that you'll go check to see if it is ticketed, in the morning.
I also had been looking all over for info on the Shadowhunters signing. I'm hoping that I can attend the panel and then line up at 3pm or earlier to go for the signing.
That was
That was my plan too:) ill probably ask around at preview night and eaither camp out or come back early. At this point i would rather it be ticketed so i can at least go to the panel if indont draw a winning one. Glad to see some fellow shadowhunters here!
The WB schedule will not be announced until next week.Is it possible or true that Gotham signings are at the FOX booth AND at the WB?! If it is this makes me a very happy (and thankful) fan!
I'll be at PN as well!! Hopefully they have a straight answer.
Why god, why?! Is it possible or true that Gotham signings are at the FOX booth AND at the WB?! If it is this makes me a very happy (and thankful) fan!I have to honest - it could happen but there is a shot it will only happen at the WB booth. One year they cancelled the Fox signing day of due to scheduling. I would hedge my chances and go for the WB signing if both are posted

It is 100% possible. The Following always did both Fox and WB b/c it aired on Fox but was made by WB. So you got two shots.Yes The Following did do both WB and Fox and Big Bang Theory did both WB and CBS (when they were there). Yes there could be a shot at both having signing chances.
I have a question about the walking dead autographs when I read about the off site experience it sounds to me like there giving autographs tickets out there when you go through the line Does anyone know for sure how walking dead is doing there autographs this year??That might be for Fear the Walking Dead. Generally TWD is drawn at the Exhibit Hall booth.
Alot of mixed comments and not sure if posted here or in this thread, but now it seems more fun to be like those who just take pics or vids so u can say u saw whoever and didnt have to waste time in line for a signing at time. i guess once u see the end by chance u can ask if u can join if not busy and still by chance get something signed at time.
They won't let you into the line without a wristband so no it won't work. All those people at the signings have a hard out and have to be somewhere else after the signing.
Ok np, as said above i just try take pics or vid any at time if not get a wristband by chance.
So does anyone know about the walking dead signing if it's at the booth it's legit the only only autograph I really want this year
So does anyone know about the walking dead signing if it's at the booth it's legit the only only autograph I really want this yearYeah, it's a the booth and really hard to get. All day Thursday you can draw for a ticket at the booth. Just getting into that line is very hard as it is always capped. Once in chances of drawing a winning ticket are very slim. Waaaaaaayyyy more losing tickets than winners. When you lose, they have you put your loser back in the bag too so the odds just get worse and worse. I've never won, ever. Last year a friend did though and that was exciting!
So it means line up at the amc booth first thing the morning of and pull a ticket? For walking dead or do they give them out the day b4?like doors open and run kinda thing?TWD drawing is throughout the day. Not first thing in the AM.
Can you explain that? Thanks so much btw!The past few years, the walking dead autograph raffle was done by going through the booth or scene they had set up.
The past few years, the walking dead autograph raffle was done by going through the booth or scene they had set up.
The line is against a wall and it is capped.
But once you get in line and brought to the booth, You do 'x' and then they let you pull a ticket for the signing.
Last year, I think you posed with the group as they knelt in front of negan.
It is not a quick process. And as people mentioned, it has a low success rate.
Good luck.

Can you go through more than once if you don't draw a winner and are willing to wait? I'm doing EE line just to get that few minutes before the main doors open, LOL.You can go through the line multiple times.
I am like a huge fan of the TV show LUCIFER ...... I saw the signing is at WB on Saturday. I have NEVER EVER got in line or tried my luck with autographs, any tips/tricks what to do and when and where to line up for that? I cant imagine that there are too many people wanting an autograph or is it the same situation and I have to get in line at 4am? HELP.If you get in line at 4am you probably have no chance to even attempt to draw a ticket. But I could be wrong.
Thank you :)
Sorry to go back to this, but can we talk about Gotham :) what does that mean that they could be at both Fox and WB? Saturday morning where should I go to try and win a wrist band?? Sails Pavilion or to one of the booths? It says this:I'm trying for Gotham too. Maybe we can be line buddies? So maybe we could get to the panel too, but it seems unlikely since Gotham is the third in the signing schedule (no time has been posted) and the panel is in the middle of the day :(

I'm arriving on Thursday at 7:55am. Would I even have an opportunity to draw a ticket for any of the WB (Ninjago) or Fox (Legion) cast signings? I know the odds of winning a wristband are slim. But just wondering if I'll even have a chance to try. Or should I just head straight to the exhibit floor and buy some toys?

You got in the everything line at 9am? For future reference, for a solid chance to pull a ticket (still no guarantee as you may lose), 3am is an ok line up time. But I know people who camp out. I've done a 3 or 4am line up and the popular ones are gone. If you're going for whatever you can get, 3am is good. 5am/6am lineup is dicey depending on the dayOh I forgot to say: 9am on Friday for SATURDAY'S drawing

I went to line up to get unto the floor I meet this lady from Orlando, she was in her 60s and there by herself. I told her she was awesome and offered her to sit in my chair while we waited. She bought me a cup of coffee ☕ï¸

I do would like to know when people got in line for the Justice League autographs. Just as a general rule, to have a realistic shot at even drawing when would someone have to be in the everything else line? I know it would all depend on who is doing autographs and but is there a way and fast rule?
I got atleast 2 from those more accessible and no wristband needed. was 2 comic book makers - one i know and one i didnt but got any ways cause was freebie and transformer comic so cool. i happy i get what i can anytime. That is so nice! You discovered someone new. We got some items signed by our favorite artist Lord Mesa. No lines, and a real treat for us.

Just as a general rule, to have a realistic shot at even drawing when would someone have to be in the everything else line? I know it would all depend on who is doing autographs and but is there a way and fast rule? Was JL drawing was on a Thursday or Friday I'm asking because we were there early on Saturday everything else line.
I always think that there are people that draw a ticket for a show they don't like. Go through the autograph queue and then throw away the poster etc. Does that happen?

I guess this happens a lot for the WB signings because is the same line for all the shows. Doesn't feel fair to me, a lot of the signed posters are on eBay now. I wouldn't sell one or.buy one EVER., I'd rather have the whole experience of meeting the cast of a show I love, like I did with Gotham. Buying a signed poster won't give me the hug that Robin Lord Taylor gave me, that is a priceless moment!

I know it's way off season, but assuming I end up with a regular pass rather than a professional one for this year, how hard are the Marvel ticketed signings (typically for their TV shows/movies) to get for people who have to go through the standard throngs? Being pro certainly gives an (admittedly unfair) advantage.I'd like to know too. I have a friend who tried last year. I don't know how many people were in front of us in the everything else line on Saturday but we lined on Friday morning (around 9-10 am) and by the time CCI allowed entrance to the exhibit hall of course the line was already caped for marvel

Forget it, you will be wasting your time. Marvel will run out of tickets. You may make the line, but you wont have the opportunity to draw. The first 450 people are SDCC retailers using regular badges. How do I know this? I was the first one in the pro line. I raced to marvel booth and there was already a line.

Does anyone know how does it work for the CW show signings?
Most CW shows are Warner Bros. They're a drawing first thing in the morning in the Sails Pavilion.

[member=7985]ozzz[/member]Thank you this really helps! It's my fourth year and I really never knew how it worked and never asked as well lol i'm glad I found this forum :)
You have to line up in the everything else line, then inside the convention center go to sails pavilion and find the warner line, it will take outside sails to the back of the convention center and down the stairs, depending on the time you entered the line. It's the same line for all the warner shows of that day. When is your turn, they'll ask you for what show you're trying for, then hand you a bag with tickets and you draw one to know if you win or not. Besides the warner table there's a board with the scheduled signings for the day and their availability at the moment.
Be careful to not confuse lines and to ask someone at anytime if you're not sure the way... It happened to me last year (my first year)

Question, can you draw a ticket for lets say more than one show or is it you have to chose one show only?
[member=405]vegasndn[/member] what time did you get in line? The day before, we camped out and took shifts with a lineup group.
Does anyone know how does it work for the CW show signings?Just for reference what everyone has mentioned is how it has been done the last few years. There have been hints and mentions that there will be a major change to their system this year though. Nothing official, just something to watch out for.
I just noticed the WC online exclusive signings lottery opened 3 weeks before the start of the con
Do you guys think SDCC will do the same with dates as in open it 3 weeks before the con?
If u get mail saying online, just try choose all so that way u get something better then nothing.
And it’s this mindset that makes online lotteries less appealing. The lack of effort required significantly dilutes the odds. Hopefully there is a limit (attached to member ID) to the number of signings a person can enter for.

Yea, i not sure if they gonna limit how many u can try for or let u try for all and have be the luck of the draw or randomness of the lottery if u get all or at least get 1 or 2 of of any that u wanted to check out.
[UPDATE June 26] We now have details on the signing: Saturday, July 21, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the Autograph Area. Scheduled to appear at the signing will be Joaquim Dos Santos, Lauren Montgomery, Rhys Darby, and Bex Taylor-Klaus. Drawing for Line Tickets to be held Saturday at 9:00am in the Autograph Area.
another question..sorry. Where is this so called "Professionals" line? I been Pro for several years now and I have yet to find it. I always end up in the regular crown and get put back in it no matter where I go lol
No clue, either. I've tried every year.
For the big drawing/lottery autographs are you allowed to have an item you bring signed instead of the poster they generally have the cast sign?

Since you cannot bring your own thing, will they have cast photos available for signing? Hoping to score a CW signing

I got a theatrical sized poster at the Hunger Games signing a few years ago. That poster was huge and was also on heavy paper-stock.

Was that a WB signing?

Hunger Games would have been Lionsgate. I was in line for something at the booth beside it and got occasional glimpses at the cast.Confirmed - It was Lionsgate.
I got a free Hunger games T-shirt at their booth. I was just walking by and all of a sudden i find myself in a line, didn't know what they were giving away but in less than 5 minutes I was out of the line with a free T-shirt
I think I was a the right place, right time lol

Got Space Odyssey, Black Lightning and Geoff Johns.
If anyone interested in those, I’m looking to trade for a My Hero Academia signing for it.
Anyone know if you can bring your own comics for signing? Won a DC signing.
Infinity war signing friday?

Well that won't be a crapshow for sure. Nope.
I imagine its going to just be Jeremy Renner.

They had an IW signing at D23 last year and it turned out to be only Josh Brolin (no disrespect, but obviously people were expecting much more especially considering how many of them showed up to the live action presentation).
Kind of a noob question, but is there a list somewhere of all the signings that aren't through the SDCC lottery portal? The only one I'm aware of is The Walking Dead (which I'm not sure how to try for).here is a good list of all the autographs during SDCC, which include quiet a bit not part of the lottery portal.
I got nothing through the lottery and now I'm seeing a ton of posts on FB of people who got stuff they didn't want, trying to trade for other stuff. :(

Do we have any idea what the WB signings will be yet? They are gonna tell us before the con day aren't they? Haha
Missed this with all the info that's been flowing through today, but according to SDCC's Unofficial Blog updated Voltron info, seems like the Limited Tickets will be done the normal way like in years past.
https://sdccblog.com/2018/06/voltron-flies-into-sdcc-2018-with-panel-exclusive-poster-signing/
Maybe this is an exception. Maybe SDCC will change their minds later. But for now, this gives us some insight that the Autograph system will be in place for only the big booths signings and not for Limited Signings in the Sails.

I have a question around the exclusive signings. My friend won Krypton signing this year and had to go to Sails in the morning to get a special wristband showing ID, badge and confirmation. My question is if I didnt win a signing for 2019 but wanted to go to one could i buy the signing off someone and have them come to sails with me in the morning and have me get the wristband instead of them (they say please give this person the wristband here's my confirmation etc). Its nice getting a signed poster but i want to be the one getting it from the people rather than them selling it to me after the signing.
No they aren't transferable. They could try and remove the wristband and give to you but even that they try and make it tight so you won't be able to do that.
But what they will do, and I have done it before, is put the wristband on someone else who is with you in line. You just say, you can't be there but your cousin (or whomever) can.
I have a question: is there anyone here who entered who had a guest badge registration and thus didn't have their registration linked to their ID? I'd like to know if you were still able to enter any of the lotteries.
Looks like WonderCon has implemented a point system for the number of drawings you can enter per day.
The bad: a limit to the number of signings you can enter
The good: you can enter one drawing multiple times until your point allotment is spent!
https://sdccblog.com/2019/03/wondercon-anaheim-2019-autograph-lottery-portal-now-open/
Maybe give away the extra spots?
I wonder whst happens when no one or very little people put in points for a non popular signing then? If SDCC does something similar and does another signing for say a show like Krypton, I bet mlst will be putiing in points on Cw shows amd movie signings.

Last year, after the Saturday wristbands were given out at the WB dispensing booth, we asked the WB people if they would be willing to give us the non-claimed wristbands and they said no. So if they still follow that procedure, they'll just have less people in line for certain signings. Though I can't imagine with 100K+ CC attendees that they won't have enough fans to sign up for each signing.
Was it a "Show's over, folks" type deal where the signers were just escorted out?
They let extras come through if time permits at WC.
This year at SDCC if WB continues with this I endorse a riot. Well not so much a riot as much as a stink raising if they don't at least let you say hi to the stars.
This was my biggest frustration and concern with lotteries. When there were no shows WB was told by the powers that be to not allow overflow or redistribute.
That was the crucial problem last year by not having a decline button or penalty for not picking up your winning wristband. Some WB signings only lasted 10 minutes instead of 30-60 due to the amount of winners not attending. Such a shame for fans who would've loved to have the chance.
for what its worth the dc autograph line had non wristbanded people lined up right after the wristband people. when I came up to join the line for the aquaman signing I was placed at what looked like the middle of the line but in reality the line people knew what guy started the non-wristbanders so as signing winners came up she just placed them in front of him. it seemed like chaos but they handled it well. I'm not sure if any of the overflow got to go through but when the lady behind me asked the dc line man at the front of line if he thought any of them would get through (she had a nephew back there) he said he was really hoping to get some in. he basically said he gets the cast for a very limited time but he was going to push as many people through as possible. it was an absolute circus around that booth but I feel like they handled very well so it would be nice if the wb could do the same
Personally I only entered drawings for properties I like.
im sure CCI will use the same credits system they used for wondercon, its going to be interesting that's for sure. but i like it a lot better then letting people sign up for everything if they wanted too.
Hey guys, this will be my first SDCC and I'm really focused on taking advantage of the WB lottery. Do you know when it will the lottery process open up this year? It should be any day now. Thx.i heard they will open up on Thursday, so the end of this week hopefully.
Can you bring your kids with you to the signings you win
Warner used the portal for WonderCon so my guess is they haven't added anything yet. Save some credits for later people!
Lego being allowed to go back to onsite draw for minifigures is starting to make me wonder if Warner Brothers is about to be given the same luxury. With the somewhat black eye from the no-shows last year maybe they are going back to a draw? Very odd that WB wasnt on the portal. I know they can be added but starting to wonder.
Portal updated with WB signings now.

Has there been any info on which cast members are going to each autograph session?
Hello,
My daughter (14 yrs.) wants to try her luck at two autograph lotteries. If she is lucky enough to get one, does anyone know if I would be able to stay with her upto a certain point in the line?
Some background - She gets very anxious in new/unfamiliar settings by herself and would probably give up her chance if she finds out that she has to wait alone. I can give her pep talks and encouragement to be able to get through the signing part but the waiting by herself is iffy. This is an issue we’ve been dealing with for a few years, I’m happy to say that she’s made a lot of progress.
You should be fine to stay with her until the line hits the booth where you'll have to separate. They like to do the lines in a separate staging area near the walsl and then bring parts of it to the booth for the actual signing in batches this is probably where you'll have to leave her.

also if she looks a lot younger then 14, most likely you will be able to stay with her the whole time. my son is 15 this year, and he is the same way staying in line by himself a few years back, he got super nervous/anxious. but he looked young, so my wife never had an issue staying with him in line for an autograph session the whole time. if she looks older then 14, then you might not be able to stay with her in line the whole time, but you can ask, a lot of the times they allowed it. YMMV
I think it depends on the outlet. At Fox they let me stay in line with my daughter through 18ish and from what I've seen through other friends they usually let the parent get an autograph as well. It was managed by the people at the line (not at wristband distribution). Lionsgate did the same thing back in the day. Just be nice and explain the situation. Conversely the Netflix costume meet-up where the Defenders cast showed up and signed was very strict. Unless your child was under 16 you could not go in with your child and they were in the courtyard (out of sight) quite a while and then also given access to the Netflix offsite (like more than an hour). Lastly I would caution that some of these autographs can be a bit dicey. I got the Aquaman signing and the crowd was so awful that those of us with wristbands literally had to hold on to each other to keep from getting pushed away. Pretty sure I would have died if there had been a stampede. That said - Aquaman was the exception and not the rule.

This article about the Fierce Reads signings says they will be giving out tickets for some of their signings at 9:00 AM each morning at their booth. How does that work when the floor opens at 9:30? Do you suppose its a typo or am I missing something?
Hi all,
Quick question. (I'm sure the answer is already in here somewhere, but I couldn't find it searching and after reading 3 of the 30 pages I figured I would risk a duplicate post)
My friend really wants the Game of Thrones and It Chapter Two signing. If I put some of my points to those lotteries and I win and she doesn't, can we go together to 'check-in' and I let her take my slot?
If not, then I'm probably not going to allocate any points to those lotteries.
Those are both WB so the answer is 100% no - they are the strictest of all the companies there.Ok, understood. Thank you very much for the reply.
I did get signings but how do I find out what time they are at?? I know I pick up wristband morning of signing but nothing on the exact time. When I view the confirmed item in the exclusives portal it only says the day. Also didn't see anything on the mysched thing.
(I put 15 for young Justice and 15 for Rwby)
WB/DC signing schedule: https://sdccblog.com/2019/07/dc-and-warner-bros-unite-for-mega-booth-signings-at-san-diego-comic-con-2019/Thank you!!!
Autograph pickup is in Sails but you don't have to line up incredibly early in the morning. You just need to get there when the line starts moving inside (I think this is around 7 or 7:30, maybe as late as 8 ). You aren't trying to get a certain position, you just need to get in the building. Once the line starts moving, even if the line is from all the way behind the convention center, the line takes maybe 10 minutes to get inside since at that point, everyone's (hopefully) moving and (hopefully) wants to get inside as quickly as possible.
I think this has been answered before, but I can't find it. Does Conan usually sign for fans before the show, or afterwards? Or just randomly? Thanks

Sooo, I won 2 signings. Krypton and The Orville. How to I get through the regular line to make it to the sails pavilion? I can never figure out the difference in the lines.. Kind of freaking out about getting in on time.

Question about taking pictures during autograph session. I got an arrow session, and as its the last year i was hoping to get a pic with them. Does anyone have any experience with taking pictures? Do they frown on it etc?WB are super strict about taking pictures. You will be asked not to take selfies or pictures once you cross the threshold into the signing area.
Is it possible to go to an autograph signing in Sails immediately following a panel with the same people? Or how to autographs work in Sails - do you need to be present early in the day to get a ticket or be present to stand in line? I'm interested in the Avatar legacy panel on Saturday at 3 pm in 7AB and group autograph signing afterward at 4:30 in Sails. Thank you for any advice!!
The best way is to have someone else line up for you during the panel, then switch places with them when the panel is over. Next best way is to leave the panel 5-10 minutes early to line up.
Has anyone ever tried for ABC autographs? Wondering what the process is for that one?
Any recommendation for Pens to be used on Prints/Posters/Funkos? Figured it would be a good thing to have a couple of those handy in your pack.Get a sharpie variety pack. Almost certainly that's what's going to be at signing tables for use but you can carry your own and it allows you to choose your color better.

My personal preference:
- For lighter background, standard black or blue Sharpies will do just fine.
- For darker backgrounds or Funkos, I'd recommend paint pens. If you've got time to get to a Michael's or something similar, I'd recommend metallic paint pens (the ones you gotta shake up) from a manufacturer like Prismacolor or Decocolor; Sharpie makes paint pens but I've never used them. In my experience, a metallic silver always pops more against a dark background and be much more clean than a standard silver or gold Sharpie. The downside is paint pen signatures take a little longer to dry and can get a little messy. I've always found metallic Sharpies to be hit or miss when they're new, and tend to dry out fairly quickly.
If I'm part of a signing where I see the individual or group using metallic Sharpies, I usually request them to use my Prismacolor if possible.
Someone on a sports collecting forum did a comparison of silver markers I found super useful (link (https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=806632)). Then a comparison from my own collection of two signatures on glossy photos from Walgreens:Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
I tried for Doom Patrol Sat but struck out. So far no one has been willing to trade on that so I'm wondering for those with experience does WB do an overflow/standby line and if so what are the odds of getting in? I managed this with Shazam Signing at Wonder Con this way but understand WC can be a different beast to SDCC.
Last year WB didn't do any standby (and that was the year where you could enter as many lotteries as you wanted, so there were a ton of people who won signings who didn't go and get them. Some signings had less than 20 people go through). I would say this year, since I assume people only entered things they were interested in because of the limited number of entries, most people would be showing up and there wouldn't be standby.
However, I don't think you missed out on much. A friend won the doom patrol through the exclusives portal, and from what he said, there was only one person there signing (I'm not sure who).
If you trying to get an autograph ticket on the exhibition floor when it opens up forget it, usually vendors and friends of vendors will be in line when you get down there. I’ve been in line way up front to get onto the floor and when I arrive at booth line is capped already. So try for autographs up in Sails pavilion.
I gave up on getting autographs on the exhibition floor a couple of years ago for the same reason. I haven't had any luck with the lottery raffle either. Fingers crossed this year!
