Comic-Con International 2013 Early Bird Hotel Sale

Good news! The Comic-Con 2012 Early Bird Hotel Sale was such a success we are doing it again.

If you know you will be attending Comic-Con 2013, here is your chance to save money AND get your room in advance of the general hotel sale. The Early Bird Hotel Sale prices are only valid BEFORE attendee housing opens and will not be available at a later date.

A limited number of hotel rooms will be made available in the Mission Valley and Airport areas. Some of the hotels in Mission Valley will also offer incentives for those booking early. Please note: Downtown San Diego hotels will not be available in the Early Bird Sale.

Check the Comic-Con website at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login for additional hotel information and a link to the Travel Planners housing site. The link will be available on Wednesday, January 23 after 9:00 AM Pacific Time (PT).

All rooms must be paid for in advance. There are no refunds or transfers.

An Early Bird hotel room reservation does NOT guarantee you a Comic-Con 2013 badge. If you do not currently have a badge, please be aware that Early Bird hotel rooms are non-refundable and you will not be eligible for a refund if you are unable to purchase a badge for Comic-Con 2013.

Comic-Con shuttle service is available on Wednesday July 18, from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM. 24-hour shuttle service begins Thursday July 19, at 7:00 AM and runs through Sunday July 21 until 7:00 PM to help fans enjoy every hour of Comic-Con and nighttime fun.
 Some things to remember:
- Each room reservation requires full prepayment at the time of booking.
 - The full prepayment is NON-REFUNDABLE, regardless of circumstance.
- The “Comic-Con Early Bird” hotel rates expire on March 11, 2013.
- Reduction in room nights will not be eligible for refunds.
Name changes and adding nights to your stay will be accepted up to March 11, 2013.
Reduction in room nights will not be eligible for refunds.

May one transfer a Travel Planner's reservation to another name?

My friend is expecting so may not be able to attend.  However, we were both going to attempt.  Whomever gets the better hotel will make two reservations (one for her family and one for mine).

 (1) Can she transfer her reservation to a third friend?

(2) Will the cancellation of her reservation effect the separate one she made on my behalf?

Just looking for confirmation so any guidance is appreciated.  Thank you

In the case of the early bird hotels, there are no name transfers after 03/11/13.

Cancellation of one reservation should not impact another one but double and triple check to make sure you are providing the reservation # that you actually want to cancel.

You'll probably have to do both over the phone. Make sure to keep any and all emails you get with any type of confirmation on it.

Appreciate the speedy and detailed response.

Does that mean could transfer before the march date probably?

Any guess when downtown early bird could occur?

yes, name changes are accepted until march 11th

we are assuming the main hotel sale won't be until after the early bird sale closes, on 3.11.13.  Last year the main sale was at the end of march.

There is no downtown early bird. My guess is that it'll be after the 03/11 cutoff date.

+1. You are not alone!!

I usually allow myself the new year to slowly start to build the momentum and hype. Then it takes a nice satisfying rush at WonderCon in March and it's all fiending from there. This board, a couple of others I belong too, daily check on SDCC dedicated sites, etc. I may even break out the Morgan Spurlock movie sometime, that cures the craving for a bit.

Yes, I was also excited that the gears for SDCC 2013 seem to be in motion!

It's interesting that they're doing this early bird sale again. Clearly it was successful last year or they wouldn't be doing it again. And since a good chunk of badges went in the pre-sale last August, there are enough people right now who can take advantage of ti, if they want. Then after the general badge sale, more people can still take advantage of it before March 11.

And as a 'downtown hotel person' I love that it takes people out of the hotel lottery!

My friends and I used the early bird hotel deal last year. It worked well since we drove to San Diego (from Salt Lake) and had parking at the convention center. We plan on doing the same again this year.  So one less group of downtown hotel competition for you Transmute!

in my estimation it was deemed a success last year when cci didn't have to sweeten the deal just before the con by adding a badge into the mix.  In other words, they didn't do the hotel&badge sale then had done in the past instead they discounted less desirable rooms in the  'early bird' sale.

I think you're right, Alyssa. Last year it seemed as if they were doing the early bird sale to avoid the 'badge plus hotel room' sale they had in previous years.
