With a bit of trepidation, I went to the fest today.  It seemed to be the same as usual.  Parking was a pain as always.  Today, I only saw 3 people wearing masks.  All were dealers.  I only noted 2 coughs while I was there.  I did note that people were definitely washing their hands longer than usual in the restroom.  I was not the only one hogging a sink while others waited.  People still offered a handshake.  I responded with don't even think about it.  I only saw one canceled panel, that could have been for any number of reasons.

For the most part, it was the fest as usual.  Once again, it's the casual intimacy of this con that I love.  Some authors that you would have to fight to get into a panel to see at comic-con, are just there at the fest.  Some of them sit as part of the audience for panels that they aren't in.  They just aren't panelists, they are attendees.  At comic-con they would get asked for autographs, at the fest they are just another person.  It's funny how quickly they go from celebrity author to just another dude in my mind.

Ron Ron salkowtz and Bill Sienkiewicz

I agree with You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login , it was a modified business as usual at SDComic Fest.

The notable hole was JMS's absence and subsequent dark rooms / panels.

random note
lots of interesting auction items today & sunday will be sold. I'll get a pic and post the items later on today.

Sinnkiewicz will be at his table signing today
Brin is only at con Sat. There will be a 3 B's signing at the Mysterious Gallery table after their panel-

All my paper books are in storage.  Last year, I managed to dig out one Brin book to be signed.  Considering the 3 B's are in my top 10 favorite authors, I vowed to dig out books for them to sign.  I had all year to do it.  I still didn't.  This is how lame I am.

The fest is over for another year.  Sunday is the mellowest day.  It was easy to find parking at the event itself.  I didn't have to park down the street.  There were some good panels today.  Some of the dealers packed up and left by mid afternoon.  I overheard a couple of them talking and they think this will be their last con for a while.  They don't think that Wondercon will happen.

Today I was thinking this con barely squeaked by in time.  It happened right before people started taking covid seriously here in the US.  It's only been a week but it seems so long ago.  I hope not, but I think it may be my only con this year.
