Lego,Hasbro,Mattel.. What happened to them?
« on: June 20, 2022, 08:06:14 AM »
It’s a month out and we still haven’t heard a peep from the big three?
Thoughts and ideas?
Should we be nervous?

LEGO and Mattel have both mentioned having stuff there, just not the exclusives yet.

Not off hand, but pretty sure the LEGO Optimus Prime announcements had stated it would be on display and available at SDCC.
Hasbro recently announced a deluxe Sgt Slaughter figure and I believe that announcement stated it would be on display at SDCC.

All 3 had booths at Celebration, so I'm sure they'll be at SDCC.  What they do in terms of exclusives is an open question though.

Legos are always on point with their exclusives. Likely the news will drop the after the 4th of July, and maybe our first look at the first Mini-fig.

This seems like a logical, measured response.
OTOH panic-mode can be a comfortable place.

At this point I am a lot less concerned with LEGO than I am with Hasbro.  Year in and year out, many of LEGO's exclusive reveals are consistently among the very latest on the SDCC reveal calendar.

To say I would be crestfallen if Hasbro didn't have exclusives at SDCC would be an understatement.

Hasbro has stated their brands would be there and the Transformers community has had a leak of a supposed SDCC exclusive two-pack.  that said I can't imagine them NOT having an exclusive considering that it's what 50% of their booths pace is dedicated to.  Same goes for Mattel but I will admit I am starting to wonder what their plans are at this point considering they both did their own thing the last two years.

My thinking is that there is a possibility they might skip out on the exclusives. What is the incentives to haul exclusives to Comic Con when they can sell it to the majority online. I don’t count Funko since they will show up at a flea market with a shared exclusive just to make a buck. I am saying it’s like working from home. Why go back when it’s cheaper and easier doing from home?

We might be in store for a water down Comic Con this year. That seems to be the trend.

Hope I am completely wrong and just talking from my “Donkey”.
Also getting this years Comic Con Badge in such a sad state didn’t help.

At celebration, instead of physical exclusives, Hasbro had a QR code you could pick up to use during the days of the con to preorder a Star Wars figure.  They might do something similar at SDCC.  Likewise, Mattel was also preordering a Vader.

Yea pre orders meaning it will open to public afterwards.
I also notice the celebration Lego exclusive also was also pre release and not an exclusives like previous years.
Had a big ribbon saying “Got it here first” right on the box.
