As silly as this may sound... DC and WB often has a decent prescence at Wonder-Con. I "wonder" if Wonder-Con would be a nice launching pad for the new Wonder Woman movie? I think it would make a huge splash at the show. Thoughts?  :)

Met him at SDCC 2014. As a Spidey fan growing up reading the comics he helped do, mainly the drawing, it was awesome. The Sunday I met him, he was super nice and  allowed me to take a photo with him. Definitely will try to meet him again.

WONDERCON PROGRAMMING PREVIEW #6 Fan Culture Panels at WonderCon 2016!

http://comic-con.org/toucan/fan-culture-panels-wondercon-2016

Both WonderCon and Comic-Con added “Fan Culture” programming tracks to their schedules last year and they were a huge hit! WonderCon is once again offering a special track dealing with all things fan, from fashion to cosplay, from Star Wars psychiatry to science, from sidekicks to comic book courtroom drama (and that’s just some of Friday’s panels!) Here’s a preliminary rundown of all of these panels, which will be featured in Room 502, on Level Two of the Los Angeles Convention Center, all 3 days of the big WonderCon weekend. Exact times will be posted next week when the official 2016 Program Schedule debuts.

Friday, March 25

Finding Your Inner Superhero: How Pop Culture Media Brings Justice and Healing-Can caped crusaders inspire you to find your inner courage? The Pop Culture Hero Coalition presents a powerful discussion about real-life heroism with a spotlight on Paul Dini and his powerful, soon to be released autobiographical graphic novel Dark Night: A True Batman Story (Vertigo, June 2016). Dini (Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond) will be joined by experts in psychology, education, and human rights activism. The panel will explore topics such as bullying, online harassment, hate crimes, and other interpersonal adversities. For the first time, Amnesty International USA will attend a pop culture convention, with Ann Burroughs (Amnesty chairman of the board, former apartheid prisoner of conscience) joining United Nations Association president Bettina Hausmann, Global Ted Fellow Suleiman Bahkit (founder, Aranim Comics, Hero Factor), Dr. Andrea Letamendi (host, The Arkham Sessions, Under the Mask), and coalition founder Chase Masterson (Star Trek, The Flash). Join this riveting discussion on how fictional characters in comics, film, and TV can teach us to overcome bullying and become heroes in our everyday lives!

TeeFury: Pop Fandom as Artistic Inspiration-Tom Hodges (comic artist and illustrator), "Artist Abe" Lopez (artist and illustrator), Joey "Joebot" Spiotto (Alien Next Door, Storytime Gallery 1988), Danny Haas (designer and illustrator), John "Captain Ribman" Sprengelmeyer (award-winning illustrator, syndicated cartoonist), Pauline Acalin (pixel artist, 72 Pins), and Jason "JangoSnow" Wong (graphic designer and illustrator) discuss tapping into your favorite fandoms for inspiration, how pop culture has influenced the course of their work, and the rise of pop-parody apparel culture. Moderated by Tom Kurzanski (art director for TeeFury). Room 502B

The Her Universe Fashion Show Update-For the last two years, Her Universe and Hot Topic have produced The Her Universe "Geek Couture" Fashion Show at San Diego Comic-Con. Each year two winners were chosen and given the unique professional opportunity to design a fashion collection to be sold in Hot Topic stores. Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein, Cat Carson (SVP of Her Universe), Ed Labay (divisional merchandise manager of music and licensing), and Andrea Lewis (senior brand marketing manager) from Hot Topic and 2015 fashion show winners Kelly Cercone and Leetal Platt  take you behind the scenes of the making of their all-new Star Wars: The Force Awakens line for Hot Topic. Learn how these designers went from runway to retail! Plus, get an exclusive sneak peek at this new Star Wars collection and hear details about how to submit your designs for the 2016 Her Universe Fashion Show at San Diego Comic-Con!

Cosplay Makeup 101-This panel covers what it takes to perfect your cosplay by having great makeup to go with it. It will cover beauty makeup, appliance application, special fx makeup, sculpting, molding, casting, and wig styling. The panelists include Dawnielle Banks (Makeup By Siryn, Batgirl Spoiled lead makeup designer), Ashley Troub (Ghost Hunters, winning look SDCC Her Universe Fashion Show), Kelton Ching (SDCC 2014 Apocalypse makeup demo, Blizzcon 2015 4th place winner), and Chrissy Lynn (Super Power Beat Down’s Darth Maul, League of Steam’s White Wolf), who have honed their craft in the makeup, film, television, and cosplay photography worlds. They will answer your questions about makeup to match your costuming and cosplay, as well as offer tips and tools of the trade to use. Moderated by cosplayer Mac Beauvais (Monstrous Makeup Manuals 1&2 model, actress in The Gloaming).

Like Father Like Son? Star Wars and Psychiatry in a Galaxy Far, Far Away-In the Star Wars cinematic universe, traditional father and son dynamics become twisted and turned. Is this a result of nature or nurture? Why does Ben Solo turn to the Dark Side of the Force, becoming Kylo Ren, while Luke Skywalker chooses to remain with the Jedi? Does Kylo Ren have any chance at redemption like his grandfather before him? What does the style of killing and torturing others say about Darth Vader and Kylo Ren? Would they, or even Han Solo, have any psychiatric diagnoses if they existed in our world? Forensic psychiatrists of Broadcast Thought Praveen R. Kambam, M.D., Vasilis K. Pozios, M.D., and H. Eric Bender, M.D. tackle these questions and explore psychopathy, personality disorders, adolescent development, unhealthy relationships, and more in a galaxy far, far away.

5:00—6:00 Hollyweird Science-For science fiction productions, there is an implied bargain between the screenwriter and the audience: "Suspend your disbelief on one or two fantastic notions, and other parts of the story will be grounded in the believable." The genre is predicated on the expectation of one or two key inaccuracies per story. In recent years, however, both experts and fans have been nitpicking even the fundamental story conceits of films such as Gravity, Interstellar, and The Martian. From the "anything goes" storytelling approach of 1950s and 1960s sci-fi, these panelists will explore whether or not the science accuracy pendulum of audience expectation has swung too far in the other direction. Panelists are Jaime Paglia (showrunner Eureka, Scream), Zack Stentz (screenwriter Thor, X-Men: First Class), Kevin R. Grazier, Ph.D. (science advisor, Gravity, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), Jessica Cail, Ph.D. (science advisor, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Zootopia), and Andrea Letamendi, Ph.D. (clinical psychologist The Arkham Sessions, Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics). Moderated by Aaron Sagers (Syfy Blastr).

6:00—7:00 The Psychology of the Marvel TV Universe-They’re heroes from different eras. They operate in different parts of the world, not to mention occasionally different dimensions! And they fight different villains, sometimes reluctantly. Yet, they’re all very much connected through the same universe and many of the same experiences, including trauma, adversity, and self-discovery. Writers D. J. Doyle (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Jose Molina and Lindsey Allen (Agent Carter), and Christos Gage (Daredevil) join Dr. Andrea Letamendi (The Arkham Sessions) to explore the dramatic psychology of the Marvel TV Universe. Moderated by Brian Ward (The Arkham Sessions).

7:00—8:00 Not Your Sidekick: Heroes of Color Take Center Stage-From Marvel’s Kamala Khan to Star Wars’s Finn, characters of color are finally taking on the pilot’s seat/captain’s chair/chosen one’s mantle and being positioned front and center in entertainment. But how far has it come and how far does it still have to go? A dynamic group of creators and expert commentators who have all had a hand in crafting powerful protagonists of color will discuss issues of representation and authenticity, writing from their experiences, the unique pressure put on diverse characters, and how audiences can best support these characters to usher in a whole new era of POC heroes. With Marc Bernardin (Genius), Shalisha Francis (Minority Report), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The 100, The Middleman), and Dr. Andrea Letamendi (The Arkham Sessions).

8:00—9:00 WonderCourt: The Trial of Ben Grimm-It’s prosecutin’ time! The Thing will be put on trial by two funny comics fans, Alex Firer (Onion News Network) and Mike Levine (The Onion). Is his character dumb as rocks or the most fantastic? Honorable judges Jon Schnepp (The Death of Superman Lives), Jeff Loveness (Groot), and Natalie Palamides (The Powerpuff Girls) preside over WonderCourt. Which characters will appear as surprise witnesses? WonderCon’s geek comedy courtroom is now in session. Presented by comedy press The Devastator.

Saturday, March 26

LARP 101: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse-Ted Minette (10-year LARPer, writer/actor) will cover plot writing and character development. David Pulcifer (22-year LARPer) will discuss game design and plot writing. Kya Harris (avid LARPer, actress/artist) will speak to the art in LARP. Ben Jurek (11-year LARPer) will discuss weapon construction and foam combat. Lori Dansie (first-year LARPer, medical professional) will review the therapeutic aspects of LARP. Q&A session moderated by Tony Estrada (LARP enthusiast).

Tolkien Fandom Beyond Jackson: TheOneRing Staff-Tolkien fandom existed before Peter Jackson's LOTR and Hobbit films, and will remain long after; but what now? WONDERCON 2016 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY #11 Art and Artists Aplenty in the WonderCon 2016 Artists’ Alley!

http://comic-con.org/toucan/11-art-and-artists-aplenty-wondercon-2016-artists%E2%80%99-alley

Each morning when WonderCon opens and you walk in from the line queues, the first thing you will encounter is Artists’ Alley. The hallmark of any comics convention is how great their Artists’ Alley is, and at WonderCon 2016, it’s one of the best! Close to 350 exhibitors will be in place this year in the biggest “Alley” we’ve ever had at the show. Navigating this show within a show can be a bit tricky-and you can almost spend your entire day in there!-so here are some tips. Our Toucan contributor, Eisner Award-winning artist Steve Lieber has his own perspective-that of someone behind the table-on visiting Artists’ Alley; click here to read that.

Make sure you browse through portfolios and binders on the artists’ tables. They can't display everything on their tabletops, and you never know what kind of hidden treasure you might find.

Many artists will do sketches (for a fee), and most will sign published work such as comics and books. A lot of artists offer prints of some of their work, which you can get signed with a purchase. Be courteous and don’t ask them to sign every issue of that complete 100-issue run that you brought along. Remember other people want to see their work, too, so be aware of the people around you and whether or not you’re blocking table access for others.

Collect the business cards of artists whose work you like, so you can visit their websites or social media later and purchase something you missed. And check social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.) hashtags to discover artwork and merchandise that's been posted. Find out what their table number is or ask the person who posted the art who they purchased it from. Use the WonderCon Artists’ Alley and Exhibitor Lists on our website to do some advance research and check out which artists and creators may be selling at the show.

WonderCon’s Artists’ Alley showcases creativity at its finest … set time aside to explore it!

Warner Bros. TV Brings The 100, Legends of Tomorrow, iZombie and More to WonderCon

Warner Bros. Television is bringing several series to WonderCon in Los Angeles in a couple of weeks, including iZombie, Containment, Teen Titans Go!, The 100 and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

All five series will have panels at WonderCon, including cast members and creators, along with autograph sessions. Tickets for the autograph sessions will be distributed at West Exhibit Hall A on the morning of each signing (which corresponeds to the day each show’s panel is).

I’m happy to say I’ll be moderating the panel for The 100 on Sunday, March 27th at WonderCon, so hope to see you there!

Following are the WBTV panel dates and times for WonderCon 2016. Panelists and panel times may be subject to change.

According to the interactive map for the L.A. Convention Center, these are the room capacities--
http://www.imapenterprises.com/lacc/welcome.php

Room 150  - 360
Room 151  - 1020
Room 152  - 1020
Room 403AB  - 1000
Room 408AB  - 1000
Room 411  - 299
Room 502A  - 550
Room 502B  - 550
Room 515A  - 650
Room 515B  - 650
Room 518  - 250

and of course there's the Microsoft Theater, which has a capacity of 7100.

The rooms being used for TV and Comic Book panels, 403AB and 408AB, are smaller than the rooms used at the Anaheim Convention Center for similar panels. At Anaheim, CCI used Rooms 300AB and 300DE. Each of these held about 1500. So there will be about 500 less seats for these panels compared to last year. If you are planning on attending any of the panels in these two rooms, you might want to get there early just in case they reach capacity.

Yeah both my friend and I noticed that (at separate times) too. The only thing that sounds interesting is iZombie. I do know from Jessica Chobot that she and Nerdist will be there for meet and greets and moderating panels if that interests anyone. I almost had myself convinced there would be more of a Hollywood presence there since it was so close to the WB/Universal studios. I especially thought they would feature Wonder-Woman there. After watching Park & Cons' periscope videos of where the activities will be, I'm not even sure I'll make it through much of Saturday. Hopefully, I am proved wrong.

The Autograph schedule is up: http://comic-con.org/wca/autographs

We remain faster than the speed of... Toucan :) (seriously, is Toucan in another building or something?! "Blast" news information across all channels at once! Like what happens here!)

WONDERCON 2016 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY #21 WonderCon Autographs Online!

We’ve added a listing of the celebrities who have tables at WonderCon 2016, along with a list of our signings. This year, we have a plethora of great science fiction, fantasy, and Young Adult authors, so we’ve added a special signing area (called the Author Signing Area on our Exhibit Hall Map … click here to view it or download it), which will feature these authors after their panels. In addition, we have a second signing area, the WonderCon Signing Area, which will feature special signings, including some of our guests, such as comics great Brian Michael Bendis (Friday at 5:00 and Saturday at 2:30). This information will be updated regularly here on our website as we get closer to the show and add more signings, so you'll want to check back. Click here to visit our Autographs page for complete info!

If anyone will be at the Stitchers panel waiting for another panel, I would love the swag from this panel. If not-there is always eBay! I know how precious swag is these days. I hope they come to SDCC this year!

Reading all of these posts with mounting jealousy!

CCI has announced that the world premiere of the Justice League vs Teen Titans will be happening at Wondercon 2016. http://www.comic-con.org/toucan/justice-league-vs-teen-titans-world-premiere-exclusively-wondercon-2016

WonderCon and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment invite you to be part of the first public audience to witness the clash between veteran superheroes and their youthful counterparts when Justice League vs. Teen Titans," the latest DC Universe Original Movie, has its World Premiere at WonderCon, March 25—27, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Justice League vs. Teen Titans welcomes the Teen Titans to the ever-expanding canon of classic DC Comics characters within the DC Universe Original Movies. When Damian’s over-aggressive tendencies almost destroy a Justice League mission, he is sent to learn teamwork by training alongside the Teen Titans. However, adjusting Damian’s attitude turns out to be the least of the Teen Titans’ troubles as Raven’s satanic, world-conquering father Trigon begins an escape from his inter-dimensional prison. To complete his return, Trigon must have Raven’s assistance-and to accomplish his goal, he spreads his demonic forces across the globe, infiltrating the minds and bodies of the Justice League to do his bidding. To save the universe and prevent a literal hell on Earth, the Teen Titans must rescue-or defeat-the Justice League, and intern Trigon for all eternity.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, the film will be available from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on April 12, 2016 on Blu-Rayâ„¢ Deluxe Edition, Blu-Rayâ„¢ Combo Pack and DVD.
