Title: Badge Sale after May 15th
Post by: alyssa on May 12, 2012, 06:25:54 AM
this thread is for people who still need a badge, maybe just a single day or all 4 days.
I have found that working together can be *very* helpful.  Here's what I suggest;

Identify a group of people who are trustworthy and are willing to work together.

Agree to buy badges for each other & repayment terms

Set up a way of notifying people abt badge activity (emails, badge sale happening etc)

For this to work, everyone needs to be online trying to get a low number.  Assuming there are 12 people and 12 badges needed,  and one low number log on can buy 6 badges than only 2 low number log on's are needed.  But those two people will need support from everyone.  When i was a low number, i had the person I was buying for call me with their credit card.

Here is a email exchange i recently had with CCI;

May 10th,
Hi,
Assuming there is a sale, can you tell me if badges already bought by and individual prior to that sale will be refunded in the eventuality of them getting a four day pass?

In other words, if someone has two single days and buys a four day at the refund sale, will those two singles get refunded? Or will they take a loss?

Thanks!

the response on May 11th,
Hi Alyssa,

That is correct.  If an attendee currently holds single day badges and later purchases a 4day badge at our next badge sale, the single days will be automatically refunded.

Thanks,
*name redacted for privacy issues*

While i'm not absolutely positively sure this is the way it'll be, it sure is good news for those people looking to upgrade!

What a great idea to start a group, Alyssa! That's what we did back in March and it worked out very well for us.

I hear this Group (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyenRCJ_4Ww) is always looking for new members.  You would have to give a few things up to join them tho

Thanks for starting this thread.  I'm in need of a 4-day with Preview Night junior or adult badge.

I'm up for helping but I'm kind of tied in with doing my best for someone on my UK Attendees Group. I promised I'd help him last badge sell session but I timed out before I got round to him - I'm kind of obligated.

if someone wants to manage a group, i can start a start a restricted thread for the purpose to buy badges, which will only be open to the people who are invited.  someone will need to manage it- tho- (bustA...? <grin>)

~OK, @Alyssa, you've twisted my pinkie finger  :P  I'll help with managing the group.  Can there be at least one backup person in case I'm otherwise occupied and because of time zone differences?  Never been part of a "badge resales" effort -- how will this work?  I've already set up some @comic_con recipes for ITTT. ~

mostly what's involved is outlined in the op.  I think tho, what's needed now are more people looking for badges....or upgrades.

alot of it is just someone taking the initiative to coordinate and getting everyone involved and updating each other.

- Is there an old thread from last year for badge resales?

- I'd use ITTT to notify people about badge sale in progress.

- I'd recommend PayPal or Amazon Payments as agreed method of pre-payment.  If unsuccessful in obtaining badges, the monies can be refunded through PayPal or Amazon Payments.   Personally, because I've had first-hand experience with debit and credit card accounts being compromised (fraud) within a year of each other, I'm uncomfortable in having access to someone else's credit card account information.

If the badge sale occurs on a morning when I'm not at work I'm willing to help by trying to grab a space in the waiting room.

No, actually this forum is relatively new, only abt 6months old

there are few different ways of doing it- the obvious is paypal,  but also don't forget most credit card's have a fraud clause.  Agreed tho that debit cards are in need of the most security.
The one time i was buying for someone else this year, I had them call me & i typed their cc# in without recording it- all the info was sent to them, i didn't even get a receipt from cci saying the transaction took place. But I've had a multi-year acquaintance with that person too.

Is there a way to send an email blast to forum members about badge resales and for them to indicate interest before resales start?  I've been hearing that May 15 is the magic date.

5/15 is just the refund cutoff date. unless they plan multiple resales of the refunded badges, it's way too early...

@Groove: Yeah, May 15th is basically the last day for badge refunds.

As for resales... I think they'll just have one more, and then that's it for the year. @[email protected]

Last year they had 2 resales - one for 4 day badges and one for single day badges. During the single day badge resale, you could only buy 2 badges at most, meaning only 2 days.

I wonder if it'll be the same this year. @[email protected]  Who knows!  Ha ha.  (Chances are, we'll probably find out through e-mail 48 hours before the sale date and time, like last time...)

Hahahahahaha, that's fantastically uncool.  @[email protected];;  (Last year, I went as a professional badge guest, so I didn't worry too much about badge resales at that time... This year is different though. Ha ha.)  I hope that they do provide a little bit more of an advanced notice this year though.

Frankly, I'm sure they'll get hate mail no matter WHAT they do. I actually prefer the shorter notice. Yeah, it means there's a chance I might miss out, but that's better than having waves of people slam at once. It gives a decent chance to anyone who's on the ball.

No there isn't.   I actually tend to think the badge sale won't be right a way after the 15th. Historically cci doesn't do two things at once and they're still taking care of pro's & press.
I think the best we can do is either to corral them from here & direct them to post in this thread.

Pros were done May 11. Not sure about press.

There IS historical precedent for CCI doing things the day after (or 2 days after) a big deadline. Take the original round of badge sales, which was announced the day after Member ID registration ended.

and then inevitably someone way late to the show asking if they will have a 4th resale or if they can purchase at the door...

gonna guess 6/1 as the resale date. gives time for all the refunds to have been processed, press reg to close and all the other odds and ends tied up plus get past memorial day when they'll probably be understaffed.

if they allow folks w/ singles to upgrade to 4 day badges (which seems to be the case), that would leave another handful of badges needing to be refunded so i can see that being paired w/ hotels as combos or perhaps being offered to pros for their guests (seemed to be a limited # w/ the complaints).

Last year they had 2 resales - one for 4 day badges and one for single day badges. During the single day badge resale, you could only buy 2 badges at most, meaning only 2 days.

Actually on the 4 day badge resale the limit was only 2 as well.

So I love this idea but it's more practical during the regular sale when you can buy 6. When it is 2, that's you and 1 other person. Better than nothing, especially if you can be that one person but not sure the group hook-up piece really works here.

On that note, I'm in!  ;D I could use a Saturday single day. So please if anyone can get in early on the resale and gets to purchase with Saturday's still available please PM or email or call! I'd be eternally grateful and would hook you up with a little compensation or at least a lunch or high five!  ;)

Bustagroove, what are you regestered as?  It'll determine what you can buy.

Also for those three that need badges, we'll need you to pay very close attention to cci emails, you must check in at least ten min prior to the sale time.
I would strongly suggest you figure out the fifty and sign up for their tweets.

Can we try and keep this thread clear for the actual, resale info.  There's plenty of other threads for previous sales.

Just some info for you potential badge buyers but I had to request refunds for two 4-day badges w/o PN.  I put the request in this morning and not 10 minutes later I got an email confirming the refund.  Either these guys 'n gals workin' the refunds are EXTREMELY efficient or they gots lots of folks down there sitting around waiting for refunds to come in but there just ain't any....hope they got Galaga...

Yes, but that allowed you to buy a 4 day for yourself and 1 other person as well.

When they limited to 2 single day badges, that means you could buy 2 DAYS... eg: Friday and Saturday. So even for yourself, you couldn't get the entire Con.

Just a bit of clearing up the grey areas. Is the e-mail for the resale going to be at any moment after may 15th? Also, is the process of buying them going to be different than how you normally would?

Yes, the notification will pretty much at any moment now...  Everyone's waiting on the edge of their seats to get that e-mail from CCI.  Definitely keep checking your inbox regularly.

As for the next round of badge resales, the second badge resale used the same EPIC "waiting room" system the first badge sale (for this year's passes) had.  There's a good chance that CCI will also be using that system for this round of badge sales as well.
Title: Re: Badge Sale after May 15th
Post by: Khaaaaaaanh!!! on May 16, 2012, 12:48:23 AM
The assumption is that the Member ID and email notification system is in place for reasons like this. If it is sent by email, CCI is aware of the ~6 hour lag from when the first batch goes out to when the last batch is received.

Badges should remain thru Epic. Click on link, go to virtual queue and wait for count to drop while NOT refreshing the page.

No clue on what the limit of badges per transaction is. Might be only 2 so if you need 3, you're gonna need help.

Of course this is all speculation based on prior experience. Hope this helps clear up grey areas. Any other question?

Thanks for the clarification, I was confused by the 'adult or jr' ;)
If the youngest is regestered as a jr that's all you'll be able to buy with that member id. But I assume you already know that.

GAH! My gf never told me that she didnt put in for a refund on her badge until i just asked her, and now she has two passes. I know that sounds like a stupid issue since most people have none, but I hate that we could've had an extra $150 if we were on top of things.

I agree. They may still be willing to process the refund. It's less than a day late.

i sent them an email to see if we can get it in out of sympathy since she just got her professional pass and had almost no time to secure the refund. They clearly said to purchase a pass anyway during normal registration then when the application process for pro opens those who qualify can get a refund so we'll see.

This has been frustrating.  Last year, I lucked up with a late badge purchase, but had also applied for a press badge, and the fact that I was already issued a normal badge, it held up my press badge approval, so I had to request a refund of my badge, and pray that my press badge would be approved afterwards.

And now this year, I find out (late) that I should have gone for a regular badge once again, and then apply for press, and hedge my bets, and hope they'd do a better job at catching those with badges and also been approved for a press/pro badge and then process the refunds.  Ugh, so darn confusing!

Well, you are a returning Press badge holder (right?), so maybe it'll work out okay in the end, since you've already been approved once before.

No notifications but it's a list of the forum members still looking for badges so that you can coordinate with each other and better your odds of picking up a badge. Like whoever is higher up in queue can help, etc.

Might mean that badge resale date may not be imminent if theyre still filtering through the refund requests. I'm sure others are in the same boat w/ holding regular badges as well as waiting for pro or press badges.

The dude that's been posting a lot on the CCI FB page seems to think that it'll be this Saturday though since that's what they did last year...

There is a group of people gathering who need badges.  If you need a badge and want to increase your chance of getting one, I strongly suggest you request (in this thread) to be added to the Group.

There is a private area for the group so sensitive information is controlled. Again, simply request admittance here.

eta;, i wonder if they'll close down member id's prior to the sale, like they've done before.

I suspect they will. That's a really good point: we should watch out for the Member ID system to shut down. I haven't checked it lately.

Hi everyone, I am an attendee of SDCC for over 15 years and SD resident. I had a sudden change of plans and can't attend the entire con this year and unfortunately I wasn't able to make the deadline for refunds. I have male name passes for Thursday and Friday that I would like to get rid of. I am not a scalper and I am not trying to make a ton of money off of this, but I would like something for my time and effort considering I will have to meet the buyer at the con and pay for parking and all that. Please contact me if you are interested for further details. I'll give my personal info to the buyer after I receive payment. I have a paypal and would prefer that method of payment.

Badges aren't transferrable. Don't get yourself and your buyer banned.

Fill out the refund form. It'll be at the discretion of CCI but otherwise eat the cost or perhaps your plans may change yet again and you'll end up being free to go.

eat the cost? I thought I was doing the nice thing by trying to help people out instead of letting them go to waste... I'm not in the least bit worried about being banned or whatever, it's not like I'm using ebay. Whoever does buy from me will have a completely private transaction, so no worries for they buyer either. Like I said I've been attending for over 15 years, I know that stuff like this happens every year, it's not uncommon.

It doesn't hurt to check if CCI will give you a refund though.  In that way, it goes back into the system, and someone will be able to purchase it.  While I understand your sentiments, I believe that the right thing to do is to try for the refund first. ^_^d  Good luck.

(There were at least one or two people that submitted a refund request a day or two late, and CCI said that they would allow it.)

Wow, if I had been asking for crazy money and trying to make a profit on the ticket I would understand that type of reaction. But otherwise that was completely unnecessary, like you said, I am not violating any rules of this forum. I'm simply trying to help you all out, I though my kindness would be appreciated but since it is not I'll just take my offer elsewhere. When I couldn't get tickets a couple years ago cuz of that whole registration website crashing deal I would have really appreciated someone being as fair as I am with their ticket offers.

I just added a clause into the rules addressing resale of badges.

No discussion of violating CCI policy's
This means no talk of selling badges or willfully circumventing the stated rules set by CCI

I understand you are trying to be helpful but it is a violation of CCI policy and as such, it has no place on this board.

eta; I do apologize if this is out of the blue but honestly, i did not even consider this eventuality.  Regardless, the policy is now stated.
Sincerely, good luck & I hope you are able to get a refund!

Just a reminder, the group doesn't have any special access to badges.

It's just a way to help put everyone needing badges together to coordinate with one another to improve their odds of getting a badge since you'll likely be able to purchase 2 badges in a transaction (or maybe more).

Hai Gais, me again, XD

Just wanted to let you know that I submitted a request for a refund for my Thursday badge yesterday and today I got an acknowledgement that they will refund my money. Woohoo! I didn't process the Friday badge because it said it would take 3-4 weeks to process and I needed the money right now.

But after the quick reply I just sent another request for my Friday badge too. I really appreciate your help, especially Alyssa for finding me the link to the refund request form.

I will be at comic con for Saturday and Sunday and I can't wait! I hope you guys have luck with the refunded badges.

Here is a little tip from me to you guys for being so helpful. Whatever you do, do not use a wifi connection when trying to purchase tickets. Use a direct connection to the modem using ethernet, not from the router either. Those few fragments of a second can make a huge difference in your place in line. I used a direct connection this year and I was able to get tickets for all four days, so there you go.

Once again, thank you for your help and I hope you guys get the tickets you want  :)

Thanks guys, to be honest I was expecting an SOL response and not for 3-4 weeks. So the fact that they are accepting and processing requests so late and so quickly might mean that there are still a good number of people requesting refunds past the expiration date. And they are doing their best to process them ASAP in order to put them up for the refunded badges sale. So I think you should not expect the badges to go on sale for a while longer. So just keep organized like you've been doing but don't stress out that they haven't announced anything yet.

Title: Re: Badge Sale after May 15th
Post by: Khaaaaaaanh!!! on May 21, 2012, 01:45:17 PM
I believe the wording used to be that refunds after the cut off date were at the discretion of CCI and may not be processed until after the event. They had to set some reasonable deadline or else people would've just waited until the last minute.

Sounds like they're still finishing up refunds, working on press and pro badges and handling the survey stuff so the refund sale may not occur until after Memorial Day though I do hope it'll be announced soon...

I kind of suspected that trying to buy a badge with an iPhone is not the best way to go.  As I was falling victim to the dreaded broken link on my iMac on March 3, I did make a bookmark for the page on my iPhone and got on using the bookmark and I did get in at 10,000.  It refreshed to 6,667, then it stopped refreshing, suggesting the connection was broken.  I don't know if Internet connections are more fragile on smartphones or if this is something that could happen on an ordinary computer.

I'm under the impression that wireless internet connections through a computer might be more stable than through a smartphone.  It might have to do with the amount of bandwidth being sent to and from the connection.

Could be any # of things from your connection to how quickly your browser times out to how the data refreshes to where the moon is in position to where you are sitting as you browse the web.

My recommendation is to use what you use most frequently to go online whether it be sitting at home in front of your gaming station to taking your laptop to the local coffee shop to hanging upside down off your balcony so you can steal your neighbor's wi-fi for your tablet. Comfort with your weapons of choice when buying badges will typically be better than the fractions of seconds you might gain from a faster connection on something you're not used to using.

Or, one can begin "training" for badge resales and starting using a faster connection right now... *laughs*

At any rate, I think it's a valid point in being familiar with not only the internet connection but also technology medium for which you are using for badge purchases.  If you normally use a computer instead of an iPad to do or buy things online, go with the computer instead.

Believe me, the iPhone was the last thing I wanted to use to purchase my badge.  I wanted to use my iMac but had I known I was supposed to copy and paste the URL address in my browser instead of clicking on it in the E-mail SDCCI sent me, the iPhone would have not been used!  One thing that did work for me on both the iPhone (until the broken connection) and on my iMac on the March 27 second-chance resale was bookmarking the link and clicking on the bookmark.

Meaning you got your badge on the same day and time I did and entered the waiting room very close to the number I got when I got in, right?  I bought mine on the March 27 resale entering the room at 383 and completing my purchase at 8:06am PDT.

Actually I bought my badge at pre-reg in 2011. But I was in the waiting room for friends ( we were all in a group trying to get in). I was number 503, or 506... 50-something...

Lucky you.  I'm sure it was a lot less stressful than what I experienced when I first tried to purchase my badge on March 3, then on March 27.  Last July when I arrived too late for pre-registration (I didn't pick up my Saturday badge until 7am), some guy in the crowd moaned "oh gawd, guess this means I'll have to go through the stress of buying mine online again!"

You're right, I was lucky, and I know it. This is why I'm so stressed that they won't have onsite pre-reg at all this year. Yes, I got in early enough to buy badges last March 3, but who knows if things will go that well for me again next year? I'm addicted to Con... I can't miss it!!!!!!

And yes, it is extremely stressful to go through the online badge-buying hassle. Even more, I wouldn't have my hotel room if I hadn't pre-reg'ed, because I had to pay for it (non-refundable) in full last February, before general badge sales began.

I agree Transmute. I always have pre reg at the con and the thought dealing with the internet gods is stressful. Even if there was a set number of badges for example 1000 day for onsite reg I would feel better knowing at least I can dedicate myself to stand in line to get a badge. Only the hardcore would bother to line up early.

Dear Friends,

The Comic-Con Member ID website will be closing May 24th (5:30 Pacific Time: PT) in advance of our cancelled and returned badge resale. The badge resale will not take place over the Memorial Day weekend or on Memorial Day. If you know someone who would like to participate in the badge resale, but has not yet signed up for a Member ID, please instruct them to sign-up as soon as possible. The only way to participate in the badge sale is to have a Member ID.

We have struggled with how to offer our returned badges for sale this year. Because of time constraints our choices were to not have a resale this year or use the online system we have in place. We know there are a lot of you counting on the resale to attend Comic-Con so we have decided to have a resale and to use the system we currently have in place. Since we received so few returned Comic-Con 4-day badges, we decided to split them into single day badges to accommodate more people who want to attend this year.

We will have 5,000 single day badges available for purchase.

It is important to remember that while great efforts have been taken for the badge resale to proceed smoothly, it is probable that the number of people attempting to purchase a badge, or technical issues, could have a negative impact on the process and your ability to get a badge for Comic-Con 2012.

This will be the last badge sale for Comic-Con 2012. Once the allotted number of badges have been sold, regardless of any problems, badge sales will be considered closed and final for this year's Comic-Con.

If you would like to participate in the resale, please go to http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_reg.php for additional information.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

This is actually higher than last year for returned ticket sales.  Last year was between 1,000-2,000 for 4 day and 1,000-2,000 for single days.

Good luck to those trying to get tickets!!!

So is the assumption that they have around 1250 of each day (totaling 5K)?

Another thing this means is NO badge/hotel combos this year.

Now that the resale information has been emailed, if you are still in need of a SINGLE day badge, we have a group set up here on the forum where you can coordinate.  Feel free to request access to the group by commenting here.

Keep in mind that there is no special access to the sale. It's only to put you in contact w/ others who are also in need of badges so that you can try and help each other.

Good luck to all!

I didn't get any E-mail notice, but then again, I already have a four-day w/preview badge from the second-chance resale, so I guess I'm not getting any E-mail from them.  Not that I had planned or wanted to buy anymore badges from them, I'm happy with what I have!   :)

Here's the note I found when I logged on to my Member ID:

We're sorry, because you purchased either a 4-Day badge (with or without Preview Night) or a Saturday badge, you are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate in Badge Resales.

I see both sides on this. Lots of people wanting to get in everyday will be upset, but a lot more individuals can now get in which can potentially generate more revenue for the vendors or people to advertise towards.

I hesitantly applaud them on this decision. it is always best to keep your fans happy but your "business partners" who are buying floor space are all about "money over everything" as the rappers would say.

I don't know if that note pertains to the next resale or to the March 27 second-chance resale, however I was eligible to purchase badges for the second-chance resale so it would seem weird that this note would show up in my account now, unless it pertains to the next resale.
Title: Re: Badge Sale after May 15th

They're not 'locking out' the Saturday people. Saturday badges were the first single day badge category to sell out. Therefore, anyone who bought a Saturday badge had the OPPORTUNITY to buy all 4 days if that was what they had wanted.

5,000 single day badges seems like more than last year, but then again, it's likely there will be no hotel/badge combo sale.

I'm glad they're holding badge resales. I'm a little scared of what would happen if they just held onto those badges!!!

I believe you're correct. When I got into EPIC during the first online Badge sales, there were only 4 single days left (no more preview night) so I snagged 4 x single day badges. I never got this last email from SDCC about the final badge sale.

What I got from it is that it's NOT Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Other than that, it can be anytime after Member ID reg closes late Thursday afternoon but it's probably me reading too far in between the lines. Like I can see the email going out Thursday evening for a Friday morning sale since it'd likely mean all batch emails would've reached everyone by late Thursday night since I don't see them sending out an email on Memorial Day announcing the sale on Tuesday morning.  Of course this is all on the assumption that an email will get sent out before hand...

I'm guessing it will be the first Saturday after Memorial Day weekend (June 2).  That's what I would say if I were placing my bets.

And for those new to the section, keep in mind we are only speculating on the date and time the resale is at. It's an educated guess based on prior CCI sales but your best resource will always be the email from CCI announcing the sale as well as their homepage, FB page and Twitter feed.

Sorry again if I'm being redundent, but I appreciate any info.   So far, I haven't seen any email of the resale.

Thanks, again.

Log in to your Member ID and make sure that you have not opted out of any communications. If you are set up correctly and eligible, you should've received an email yesterday notifying you that a sale is upcoming. Just a quick update: if you haven't yet checked the Member ID (which said it that new Member ID registration system will close down on May 24th), it is no longer available for the time being.

This implies that we might be close to the badge resales, as previous sales have indicated.  Here we go, everyone!  (Earlier in the thread, it was also mentioned that it won't be during the Memorial Day weekend either, so it's looking like early June after all...)

And it seemed like almost immediately after it closed, there was someone on Facebook complaining they had missed out on the opportunity to sign up for one. It was a press person who had just found out they had to cover Comic-Con, so I did feel somewhat sorry for her. At the same time, I still could not help but do a mental facepalm at the timing of the complaint.

Unfortunately, there will always be people like that--it's one of those things where if you have an inkling that you will go either as a member of the Press or attendee, you should have signed up for a Member ID when it was available even earlier in the year.  (It's not like it's a paid subscription either, but it's nice to have the CCI e-mails and announcements just in case...)

Too much work. Easier to complain and blame someone else.

Funny thing is that if she sent a polite email to CCI explaining the situation, they'd probably help her but she's too busy being catty w/ anyone trying to reply and help.

Can I be added to that special section? I am desperately hoping to secure Friday. I have a Friday pass for myself, but my husband is still stuck with JUST Sunday. We really want to attend as a family on Friday with our 2 children. CC hasn't made this very easy for families to attend together. Maybe 3rd time try of a resale badge will be a charm.

P.s. This is our first Con and I understand adults *can* take up to 2 children with them? Yes? Both of our kids fall under free due to their ages.

It's supposed to be 1 child per paying adult but it's loosely enforced. I don't think you'll have any issues w/ bringing 2 children.

Stephanie
if someone doesn't add you by the time I get off work, I'll add you this evening. How it works is, everyone who can gets on line and tries for a low number, that low number buys for everyone.  You want to make sure you've got a PayPal acct set up.

Yes, one adult should be OK with two kids, make sure you bring them both with you when you two pick up your badges and they'll be issued a child badge.  Pm me if I forget to add you!

Thanks Alyssa. I appreciate. Yeah, I do believe I've seen posted on FB that 2 can attend per adult, but then some replied with conflicting answers. I know the 'pros' in here would likely know the concrete answer. :) We're looking forward to it, even if it may mean me going with the 2 the first day, then with hubby on his pass. I was sooo bummed when I was in the system checking out for mine and then had his in there for the same day and boom, sold out underneath me. Total buzzkill moment.

well, it's difficult to say specifically, the interpretation of the rules was that one kid / full paid adult but the mission statement of CCI is "education & promotion of comics".
that said they really are softies at heart & won't turn away kiddos- well maybe if someone showed up with a class rooms of kids...<wide eyes>

you have been added

My friend last year registered 3 kids under 12 using her badge only.

Keep in mind though that if they are registered as a child, they MUST be with you at all times. Children are not allowed to go anywhere on their own, without an adult in attendance.

Okay, perhaps, but those are the official rules. I've never tried to go around that. If you have actual experience with it, then you know better than I do.

I also want to add that you can request to be added to a special section of our FCCI Forums to get additional help with badge resales.  (Note that it doesn't guarantee for you to get Comic-Con 2012 badges, but at the very least, forum members can help each other out in trying to get missing days for badges.)

Please add me to this "special" section of the forum list.
Thank you!

If it's still available, I'd appreciate being added to this forum as well.  Thanks!

If you have already purchased a four-day badge or a Saturday badge, you won't be able to participate in the upcoming resale (CCI is only allowing people without those badges to purchase additional ones).  Otherwise, if you have any of the other single-day badges, then yes, either Alyssa or myself can certainly add you to that area of the forums.

Hi Alyssa and Zero,

I was looking for Saturday and/or Friday tickets for a friend and me (we have Thursday and Sunday).  Unfortunately, it looks like you can only register up to two people.  It probably wouldn't make sense to add me to the forums because I wouldn't be able to help someone else if I'm already purchasing for a friend (he has to work at that time).

Related to the announcement, it says "no duplicate days."  Does this mean I can't buy a Friday pass for both of us?  Your site has been a great help, so thanks for setting it up regardless of whether I'm able to get additional tickets or not.  :)

Vinny

you can log on with your member id & buy fri & sat, pay.  then continue with his member id , buy fri & sat, pay.

what they were attempting to address, is one member id can not buy two passes for the same day. but one log on can buy for 2 member id's that happen to want the same days

I believe "no duplicate days" means that you can't get two single badges for one day for one person. It wouldn't make sense if it were the other way, as you have mentioned.

(And, what Alyssa said, ha ha.)

Just to clarify, we can only buy for two people right? That's including yourself and one more person. Since its me, my girlfriend, and our two friends, I would only be able buy for me and my gf. My friends would have to get in it themselves right? I can't buy for all four of us...

Afterwards, it'll be like sharing convention badge sales war stories. (Plus, it might be good con karma?  Ha ha.)

In all seriousness, this is what these forums are all about--sharing related CCI information with fellow fans and helping each other out.

Believe me, I have quite a bit of war stories to tell!

Too bad they didn't pick Saturday.  Had they done so, I would have told all of you "OK, you're all buying me a drink!"  : D  Acutally, I'll be out of town this Saturday and I will only have access to my iPhone.

So I'll mark my calender for this Thursday at 8am PT to check out the Facebook page.  I'll make sure to bring my beer, popcorn and pretzels!

One more thing.  I do plead guilty to being one of the ranters when I failed to secure a badge on March 3 when we had the broken link fiasco.  I do regret it deeply and I would still regret it even if I didn't secure a badge later if I came across this site first.  I made up for it by not getting pissed when I was unable to secure a ticket for this week's Stanley Cup finals or not being aware that sales of Coachella Music Festival tickets took place a couple of weeks ago.

One thing I won't be doing is beating up on anybody who complains about not securing a badge as I can understand the frustration.  I've been there.

Understandable to be upset. It's more of the people who won't let it go and continue hammering on CCI that just need to grow up. It's all about perspective. Hundreds of thousands going after a limited amount of badges - bound to be people left out.

It's amusing the ones who go on there and rant and rave about how CCI sucks this and that and then CCI helps them on a really easy issue and then they're like CCI is the best, blah, blah, blah. Then there are the ones who swear they'll never go again or this is their last year ever.

Just today, there's a girl ranting that she won't go with her free pro badge unless she can get a FREE guest badge for her BF.  ::)

Would just say to everyone to stay positive cuz you never know. Con karma. It's real.

in reality, we're helping people help themselves. Everyone in the group needs a badge, so they're logging on & trying for a low number.  if they happen to have an extra slot after they've taken care of their needs, they help out a group buddy.

I am trying to get badges for 2 of my friends on Saturday as well. If anyone has time to help me out, I'd appreciate it too. Good luck everyone ^^

Yes, that's correct.  Those who already have Saturday or four-day badges did not get the resale info e-mail from CCI.

Got in at #3646 trying to buy for 2 friends of mine who are going with us (my wife and I got 4 day + prev. back at the second chance). Finally got into the room and purchased a thurs and sun for one friend, entered all the info, clicked to get another badge and they were all sold out. in the 5 minutes it took me to fill out my card info the badges sold out so one of my buds will have no tix. That sucks.

I actually liked the process to get tickets, its really the only way to do it fairly, but one change would be to enter both IDs at once, then be able to select the days for both, then buy the tickets, most of the time when you are trying to get for multiples its because they are couples or families and would rather not have to go alone and keep one person at home.

Either way, getting in at #3646 i didnt think i was going to get anything. I must have been very close to the end.

My friend was #43 in the virtual line! So we now have all four days. YOW! I already had Thursday and Sunday from the first sale. I logged in for two of my other friends and could only get one friend a Friday badge (he already had Thursday and Sunday.) Not too shabby of a badge sale.

Sounds like Comic-Con made some free money today (in terms of badges bought, but most likely won't be used due to such circumstances outlined above).

I'm almost to the point of thinking maybe an "every person for themselves" approach to ticket sales would be the way to go, at least no one could claim they were shut out of badge sales when their friend/spouse got badges on the same "transaction".

Patman, Andrew, Joe (and anyone else I may have missed) I'm so glad you got passes! It always feels good to get something when you're desperate for it. I'm excited to be seeing you at Con!

As for the people who got some passes but not 'enough', I agree, it sucks. I like the suggestion made to have 2 member IDs/last names entered at once, to buy the same days for both people. I wonder if the system could be designed to accommodate that?

Wow... I'm impressed that you got anything with that number! There were only 5,000 passes total, and that was over the 4 days. I'm wondering if a lot of people left the line, or were only buying a couple of passes?
Title: Re: Badge Sale after May 15th
Post by: TopDawgz on May 31, 2012, 11:55:23 AM
Funny you mention that. I was wondering that same thing. The numbers were moving REALLY slow at first, but as soon as Saturday and Sunday sold out my number was dropping super quick. I got in when it said Sunday was SOLD OUT and Thursday SOLD OUT as I put my name in after I got my wife's Thursday ticket.... :'(
With only 5000 tickets, was it split evenly with 1250 a day? Or was Friday and Saturday heavy?
Title: Re: Badge Sale after May 15th
Post by: Transmute Jun on May 31, 2012, 12:23:44 PM
It wasn't necessarily split evenly amongst the 4 days.

Actually, I think it was Thursday and Sunday heavy. Those are the least popular days to attend, and likely the biggest number of returns. But based on what you're saying, it might be that once Saturday badges were gone (or perhaps Friday) people who only wanted those ones dropped out of the waiting room?

Hi T.J., I was talking about the first person who posted on Facebook this morning claiming success in obtaining badges.  This was after going through dozens of unhappy posts there.  I already got my four-day w/preview badge at the second-chance resale in late March.  I entered that room at #383 just 20-30 seconds after 8am that morning and was finished in a few minutes.

Oh, that's right! I remember you talking about that now. Sorry I was confused.

Still, I'm glad you got a badge. ;)

I think a lot of people bailed out after the Friday and Saturday badges sold out because they ere trying to fill in missing days. Congratulations to everyone that got tickets, luck was with you today. Now we can all move on to waiting for the next great announcement about SDCC 2012.

Registered just to tell a sob story about how crazy this badge process is...

For this resale, both coworker and I were trying to get tickets for us and our significant others after missing out the last few sales.

8AM, yay, got in line. We were about 5 numbers apart in line. Made it to the purchase screen, we both were aiming for Friday tickets so we purchased Friday tickets. Go back to purchase the tickets for the SOs... Sold out. But wait, Thursday is still available! So we ended up with tickets for Thurs for the SOs and Friday for us. Crazy part is we can't even transfer these tickets so that one set of us can go on Thursday and the other on Friday.

Sob story end.

i've heard a few stories like yours.  it is indeed hard.

why don't you put that into an email with the specifics (names, member id for all 4 people) & send it to
[email protected]

explain to them exactly what happened & ask, nicely (i know i didn't need to say that <grin>) if a female could switch for a male.  be specific & it would be helpful if switch led to the last names matching...

I can say from personal experience that if you're polite about such requests, CCI is willing to listen and accommodate.

Thanks, I'll try this and hope for the best! No last names matching though, although my coworkers' kids are volunteers this year...

i was just thinking that'd allay fears of scalping---so maybe offer matching addresses on drivers licenses (?) or another bill.  just a thought.

I was thinking the same thing!! I know that was something I worried about this year. I went for Sat badge 1st (even though I wouldn't be able to get other days doing so) because I wanted to see the masquerade since I haven't been on a Sat yet. I was really hoping I wouldn't get mine & then not be able to get my fiancee's for the same day, that would suck!! I was hoping that the Sat limit would only apply to 2nd sale, but it made me ineligible for the final resale as well. It's ok though, I was thinking of not going after another day anyway since I know so many people didn't get any badges.
I do kind of wish for the final resale that they limited it to those who hadn't gotten any yet. I know people were eager to fill in their missing days, but I think even more people were  just hoping for a chance to go at all.

-Bde bde bde b'That's all folks!!

Hello to all
I come from Poland and need to visit CCI - even for one day, better for two...
I see posts about group or resale and if someone can help me... It's my first time with Comic-Con and I started to visit their web site after invitation from Sideshow but it was after May 15th  :(. I just bought a tickets to US, San Diego and will be on site 12-17 of July so there is no way out to not come San Diego :). It is very important for me and I still have hope :). Maybe join to group...
I have wrote to CCI email but no response - thete is info "The Comic-Con Member ID system is temporarily closed to new registrations and will reopen at a later date" - but I don't know if later date i real or only polite "NO" ?

regards
Cezary

It's basically too late to buy badges.

You can try and win badges from contests.

Badges for this year's convention have sold out.  There won't be any more resales.  The Member ID system will likely open up soon, but they won't be selling any badges for CCI 2012.
