When do you think Pre-reg will occur?

ok, so since there's a lot of folks thinking it'll be after Oct 6th, i'm gonna remove the "After" choice & lay out the later dates as a choice.

November seems rather late for CCI. Thoroughly expecting it to happen by October.

While the actual pre-registration might be in the fall, I was confident that this 'validation' period would begin in August... and I think they expected it too, based on their statement that child to junior transition info would be posted August 15 (it still has not been posted).

Something is delaying them. They already have professional validation up. Why not pre-reg?

CCI has a habit of revamping the registration process every year.  Do we know if they are using the same system this year or are they adding  a bunch of bells and whistles?

Very good point.

However the revamp last year was a *major* overhaul, and from what I can tell, CCI thought the registrations (both pre-reg and general) went very well. I'm not sure they'd be changing much for this year?

Of course this is just a gut feeling... which could be entirely wrong.

I agree completely, but to be frank - something almost ALWAYS delays them. My "gut feeling" is that they fully intended to open pre-reg verification by now. But they have not been able to.

I wish I could say I'm surprised, but I really no longer have any faith in their ability to estimate their own timelines.

Yes, that's what I mean. I believe that's what CCI referred to in the 8/7/14 Toucan Blog, when they said we would receive an email about it in the next "couple weeks".

The validation period could begin as soon as this weekend, but I don’t expect it to close until after the beginning of fall.

I don't know. They said that pre-reg would occur in the fall, not that pre-reg verification would not close until then.

Personally, I hope the verification window is fairly short, both to eliminate people not paying attention, and so that pre-reg can happen sooner.

Also, I know you've expressed your conviction that "fall" doesn't begin until 9/22, but this discussion has happened before on the boards... I can't remember exactly, but didn't CCI specify "spring" for something and then it happened in March but before the equinox? I feel like CCI operates on kindergarten seasons (i.e., three months each, counted by the month), rather than astronomy seasons...

Yes, and CCI also included a caveat on the announcement that 'fall' and 'spring' may not fall into the actual 'calendar' dates of those seasons... which is exactly what happened with general reg last 'spring'.
