Well...that sucks. Hopefully it's just a few overzealous people. This might help when it gets closer to line time:

And for those going to pick up your badges at the Town & Country, use ‪#TNC‬ with ‪#SDCC‬. We'll RT the line and wait for our followers.

The early lines are normal - there's always a handful of people who just have to be among the first.  Nothing to worry about. Whatever time you plan to do something, try getting there 30 min earlier so if you were to get in line at 3pm, shoot for just a little earlier b/c others will think to show up at the same time and then you get that rush of people.

It's like this, if a restaurant gets busy around 6pm for dinner, you're more likely to get a table if you go to dinner at 5pm or 5:30pm before the rush...
...you had me at hello...

Just FYI - they've opened up badge pick up already and lines are moving fast - according to tweets via twitter. The same goes for badge pickup at the convention so I've read.

It took me 5 minutes at 6:00.  The "line" to get off the off ramp took 40 minutes. lol. :)
