Looks like there is food included - is there a menu available from past events or this one?
Question
So you buy the ticket to the event. And you go to any of the days that available?

My friends and I got tix for the 9:30 Saturday since that’s the only night we know for sure we won’t be overnighting for Hall H.
You didn't get me a ticket for my Birthday? So rude :P
Thought I can't do 9:30 anyways I have a birthday party to attend.
It sounds to me like it's something like the Westworld experience they had that year. Honestly, I'd rather have a fee and then be able to reserve something like this, than wait hours in line and be denied (which is what happened with us for Westworld).
That was a more individualized experience with a narrative. Kind of like how the Mr. Robot offsite was as well. This is basically a Star Trek themed restaurant. Here's a video I found of it on youtube when it happened in LA. I made it a spoiler in case someone wants to be surprised.Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
Thanks for sharing that! Wonder if it will be similar in San Diego or if they will do some extra special things since it's during SDCC.
My guess is that it will be at least slightly more elaborate since it's an SDCC experience. The LA event only cost $25 and the SDCC one is $60 (even factoring in the current inflation situation, that's a pretty significant price increase for there not to be some more depth to the experience), and also according to Parks and Cons' write-up on the LA event, different food trucks were brought in each day to provide food for that event, whereas the SDCC event seems like it will have more of a set (and likely Star Trek themed?) menu. I'm certainly hoping the SDCC one will be more immersive *fingers crossed*
Saturday isn’t bought out; it’s not happening during the day on Saturday. According to the listed hours of operation, it starts at 9:30pm Saturday. Probably studio stuff during that day.

Went back and forth a bit but decided to go for it and got tickets for Thursday 1:30pm. I LOVED it when it was in LA and my dad is a huge Star Trek fan from way back so I'm excited to get to take him. I just hope it's as good as in LA (or better, with that price hike ::) ) and that they still have mocktails. My dad is obviously over 21 but he's sober so I don't want him to be stuck with plain Earth water. The FAQ document says this:
It would be awesome if they made it like the Bladerunner 2049 offsite. It's one of my favorite offsites ever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPaE2kyQvG0
But from the description and what the LA one was like, I think it more likely to be like this if it's more immersive.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOybkkdekzA
These are examples of what I meant when I said that offsites like this used to be free.
Feels like with an upcoming recession, inflation, labor issues and general uncertainty in the air due to Covid, events like these may be absent for the foreseeable future. On one hand, both were really cool. On the other, I recall the waits for both seemed pretty long.

It's a 21+ event, unfortunately

I think it's less a bar experience and more just "sit here for 90 min and soak up the vibes"...if this was a more immersive, like, actually walking into a bar to hang out and such, then maybe...but maybe I hate being on a schedule for something like this either...
(or I might be hangry :D )
We signed up for 9:30 Saturday because we figured it would be a good way to unwind after Hall H Saturday, for the most part nobody in my group overnights for Sunday, and those that did, did it for Supernatural, which is over.
I already told you that is my Bday party so I can't come. :P
And I asked you if you knew the correct location of the party :P
Okay, so I went to the LA one and loved it enough to go back and take my dad this time. I'll answer a couple things that keep coming up based on the LA experience ONLY:
LA cost $25, which included 2 alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks and food from whatever food truck was there that night. My friend and I didn't read closely and didn't realize food was included until we got there. We'd already eaten, so we just had drinks. You could buy more drinks after you used up your 2 pre-purchased ones through the app (we wanted to try them all so we bought 1 extra to share).
The bar was completely themed out. It's the Picard bar but there were tons of clever little throwbacks to other series and characters. I thought it was really well done and immersive; YMMV of course.
The ticket also meant your seat/table was reserved for the 90-minute slot, which meant no hovering around looking for a place to sit, and you could leave the table without worrying someone would sweep in and swipe your seat.
There was no swag at LA, just several photo ops and actors wandering around you could interact with. They weren't specific characters from the show, just aliens who happened to be hanging out in this bar, which I personally enjoyed. There was a small merch booth in one corner where you could buy shirts, posters, glassware, and a cocktail book. You could also buy the Chateau Picard wines and spirits, but they couldn't deliver them onsite; you were essentially buying a voucher for the website. I bought a shirt and it's really soft and thin and fitted, exactly how I like my t-shirts.
If you like immersive as opposed to being hit over the head with branding and storylines, this is for you. If not, not. I do hope the SDCC experience is just a little upgraded since the price is more than double (swag would be great), but for me, a meal and two alcoholic drinks for $60 (which includes tax and there was nowhere to tip) isn't that out of line. I also live in LA, so again, YMMV.
Anyone remember the cool TNG bar inside the Las Vegas Hilton back when they had the Star Trek Experience there? That place was awesome.
My friends and I had drinks and an appetizer and a Ferengi came over acting an ass inquiring if we had and gold-pressed latinum

Not sure why that’s surprising — every reservation for the Mooby’s food pop up is also taken.only Thursday at 5:30 time slot is available.

I figured the cost would slow down the signups... guess not!
Certainly, this sets a precedent for future events.

It did. If this had been free like offsites have been in the past, it would have sold out in minutes.
I'd say things costing money is actually a good thing not a bad. In years past people would RSVP for everything and figure it out after. So you'd have events that could have easily fit more dedicated fans but because they weren't fast enough they didn't get tickets. Now you have to actually ponder your moves. Seems okay to me.

I also like paying for the event and reserving my time. So I don't have to wait in line for hours to get in. That's worth something too.

I have 2 tickets for Thursday at 830pm I think I'm going to walk away from for Hall H. Anybody interested? How much are they?
They were 60/ea but I will pass them along for 60 for bothdo they have names on the tickets?
They're transferable through the fever app. I'll provide a link for whoever to claim them. I'm happy to meet in SD and do it in person for the extra security also.

The non VIP was terrible. Should have just stood in line for the outdoor/standby one. There was no guaranteed seating, the food was tray passed so you had to chase it down, and the bar line took over 30 minutes. I didn't even have time to use both drink tickets. Plus whatever the "beam me up" thing was (I didn't have time to do it) took up the entire stage space at the front and really killed the immersive theme vibe. I took my dad and I barely even got to hang out with him bc we'd lose our seats if we got up at the same time.
It would have been fine as a free/cheap activation but for $60 it was absolutely my biggest disappointment of the entire con.
