Do people with downtown hotels usually go through Parking Ragnarok? I feel like our hotel has parking and I think we will rely on shuttle/walking but thought I'd ask
Generally no. Alyssa mentioned it earlier, but all Ace Parking Ragnarok obtained parking passes are only good until usually 2am (it's possible certain lots have different end times.) You cannot park overnight with them, so if someone has a downtown hotel that offers parking, that is a 24 hour parking slot and you wouldn't have to move your car. There are alternatives to parking at your hotel too, that can be cheaper, like parking structures near the airport that have 24/7 security etc. that can be cheaper etc.
I'm, and probably others who have a downtown hotel, only participating because I potentially need a day where I am not staying at a hotel. I'm local, but stay in the gaslamp Thursday-Sunday with my out-of-town friends and because I usually camp, but in the past and this year I'm doing Preview Night. So, if I drive I'll need a Wednesday parking pass somewhere. There are also people who are trying to grab passes for friends etc. who may already have downtown hotels too (I often do it for my brother.)
Look up your hotel's policies regarding parking as well as pricing for it (which can change during the con sometimes.) Some downtown hotels only have valet parking and things like that. You probably don't need to participate in this though!
