Awesome! I'm too small to do power red so I just do whole blood at SDCC. When I donate during the rest of the year I do plasma but the mobile blood bank isn't set up for that. :)

Thanks for the heads up, signed up for 2RBC.  I haven't found time to do my usual Power Red donation in the past few months so it'll feel good (mentally) to do it at SDCC again.

I just signed up to donate 2 RBC-Double Red Cell

Did my first one at The SDCC Special Edition last year.

My first time was also at CCSE! Donated 2 RB C-Double Red Cell and the staff offered me 2 T-shirts instead of 1.

For locals, you can donate before or 21 days after comic-con if you want to avoid the lines.  You will still get the t-shirt and pin.  If you donate before, ask them for the certificate of donation you can use to get the goodies at comic-con.

I find it interesting they mention pins for folks donating after but no mention of them for folks donating during the con. Wonder what's up with that.

Last time I donated at the blood drive, I donated plasma. I’m a universal plasma donor and they want mine. Lol

At the Comic-Con Blood Drive? I am also universal plasma (AB neg) and they've never asked me. In fact some years they've told me they can only do whole blood and double red cell at the SDCC mobile drive.

I'm torn on whether I would want to do it at Con - I like to donate plasma bc I know it's harder for them to get, but it does take longer.

I can't do whole blood- it knocks me out for 24 hours.

I've got an appointment to donate on thursday the 14th. I'm hopeful it'll be for this drive.

Interesting. At the place I donate at home the double red and plasma machines are the same. What I found funny is they asked my friend to do plasma and he didn’t even know his blood type.

I will do whole if I can’t do plasma but as a fellow AB, I feel like my red blood cells are being wasted. LOL.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login All the machines are separate at my home donation place. Double red in one corner, platelets across from it, plasma in the back corner and whole blood by the door.

I totally agree about wasting our red cells, but my home place is chronically understaffed and they switch me from plasma to whole blood once every 4-5 times just bc no one is there who can run the plasma machine. Sigh.
