Southwest to remove expiration dates on flight credits
« on: July 28, 2022, 12:02:41 PM »
One of the benefits of Southwest is that if you cancel a flight, you automatically get a credit to use on future flights. Previously, those credits had to be used within a year of the original purchase. Now, those expiration dates are being removed and the credits can be used indefinitely.

Yet more reasons to keep flying Southwest to SDCC...

Quick story...first leg home from SDCC to Chicago, I paid for internet access on the plane, and didn't get a consistent connection pretty much the whole leg of that trip.  Thought of emailing their customer service, and before I could, their customer service *emails me* and says that because of the connectivity issues I was having, they refunded my money.  It was only $8, but dang, that's awesome, proactive service.

Now if I could get a less than 3 hour layover out and back to/from SDCC...I'm all in.

Glad they officially removed the expiration.

I will add that my credits for the flight in 2020 expired last December. I was going to pay to extend them, but they still wouldn't have been good for this year's trip. SWA ended up refunding me the entire amount of the airfare. They did so without me having to argue. They earned a lot of customer loyalty with that.

I tried that with the expiring money early spring, it was a solid 'no'.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I'm sure it's too late now. But when I talked to them, they also gave me a solid 'no', but then one month later a full refund just showed up on my credit card statement. It was a pleasant surprise. No idea how they make those decisions.
