But, just like last year, CC booked WC the same weekend as another major Seattle geek convention -- the anime-focused SakuraCon.

It's always possible, of course, since the WonderCon dates have yet to be *officially* confirmed. But the Anaheim Convention Center is booked by something else the weekend of ECCC, and there is some evidence that CCI has booked that same convention center for mid-April.

So I'm cautiously optimistic that I can attend both cons. ;)

WAHOO!!!! I just bought me some tickets to Emerald Con!  All three days!  I've never been to Seattle, so this is going to be fun!

Who here has been?  I need some questions answered.

Are there buses like at Comic Con?

How does badge pick up work?  I've been to SDCC but if I can maximize my fun, I will.

I haven't been, but after you bought your badges there should have been a link to purchase discounted hotels. There are a number of hotels with cheap rates that are within a couple of blocks' walking distance. You shouldn't need a bus.

If you bought tickets, it did say on the purchase screen they'll be physically mailed to attendees.  That's different than last year when we had to pick them up.  (The line was organized, and we didn't have to wait more than an hour but there were some reports of people having to wait 3-4 hours.)

I would recommend booking the hotel ASAP.  It looks like one of them is already sold out.

We got a room at the Sheraton. It says it's a half block from the convention center. Does anyone know if it's possible to get from there to the convention center without going outside? I'm a little worried if I'm in full cosplay and it rains. I was looking for a hotel connected to the convention center, but there doesn't appear to be one.

There isn't, but rain is very light and doesn't occur continuously.  Most of the time it's just overcast and kinda misty.

Right and I saw that screen.  It pops right up.  We have a friend who lives in Seattle and my wife may not want to attend the whole con.  I'm the nerd in our fam.  So we are looking for something closer to where she lives and I am trying to work out a bus line.  We may stay downtown.  Paying $139/night for the Sheraton is nothing compared to SDCC rates.  Still, if we can save money and EC has bus routes then it's like us baking our cake and eating too!  As for badge pick up, I just went into auto pilot and wasn't thinking.  SDCC is usually the only con I go to and I'm used to waiting in line for my badge.  lol.

In that case...there isn't an official SDCC-type bus at Emerald City, but Seattle's bus system is decent.  Bus tickets are $2.25-$2.50 (depending on "peak hours".) Trip planner: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Thanks for the info, Hikanteki! At least I'll know what to expect.

Okay, WonderCon has been confirmed for Easter weekend (mid-April), as posted in the WonderCon thread this morning. This means I am good to go to ECCC at the end of March! I booked my plane flights, so it's a go!

Really looking forward to this! It seems like they are announcing new guests every week or so. I'm excited to check out this Con! Who else is going?
