Beauty and the Beast, Ballroom 20, 3:30-4:35
« on: May 28, 2012, 05:38:50 PM »
3:30-4:35 Beauty and the Beast- Stars Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) and Jay Ryan (Terra Nova), along with executive producers Jennifer Levin (Without a Trace) and Sherri Cooper (Brothers and Sisters), discuss the new CW fall show: a modern adaptation of the beloved fairy tale. The series centers on Catherine Chandler (Kreuk), a tough-minded NYPD homicide detective, who is haunted by witnessing her mother's murder nine years before and the murderer's quick demise at what she perceived to be the hands of a beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally discovers the beast is Vincent Keller (Ryan), a survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong and left him in hiding to lead a secret life. Join the cast and producers for an exclusive viewing of the first episode, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dalton Ross (assistant managing editor, Entertainment Weekly). Ballroom 20

"Detective Catherine Chandler (Kreuk) is a smart, no-nonsense homicide detective. Several years earlier, Catherine witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two gunmen. Catherine would have been killed too, but someone -- or something -- saved her. No one has ever believed her, but she knows it wasn't an animal that attacked the assassins...it was human. Years have passed, and Catherine is a strong, confident, capable police officer, working alongside her equally talented partner, Tess (Nina Lisandrello). While investigating a murder, Catherine discovers a clue that leads her to a handsome doctor named Vincent Keller (Ryan), who was reportedly killed by enemy fire while serving in Afghanistan in 2002. Catherine learns that Vincent is actually still alive and that it was he who saved her many years before. For mysterious reasons that have forced him to live outside of traditional society, Vincent has been in hiding for the past 10 years to guard his secret -- when he is enraged, he becomes a terrifying beast, unable to control his super-strength and heightened senses. Catherine agrees to protect his identity in return for any insight he may have into her mother's murder. Thus begins a complex relationship between Catherine and Vincent, who are powerfully drawn to each other yet understand that their connection is extremely dangerous for both of them." And here I was thinking Lana Lang would be playing the beast.

Would've been more likely to watch something w/ this premise if there was a stronger female lead but I've never been a fan of Kristin Kreuk's acting so not too excited about it...

With all of these recent Snow White movies and fairytale-themed TV series (Once Upon A Time and Grimm), I suppose CW is trying to garner interest with its take of a modern-day Beauty and the Beast.

Although this line "when he is enraged, he becomes a terrifying beast, unable to control his super-strength and heightened senses" reminds me of a certain green and large superhero... *laughs* ;p

I thought this might be a remake of the Beauty and the Beast TV series from the 80s... but a Hulk ripoff? Ugh...

I hadn't brought up the pictures-that is kind of lame...
Well-I will still give it a chance, but now am more skeptical.

The premise sounds interesting but I LOL'd at the picture.. seriously, is he supposed to be the beast? That's it? I was thinking full on furry, fangs, claws...or at least someone truly creepy like Willem DaFoe...yeah... that'd be hot.  8)

Okay, I was curious, since I didn't look at the new photos for the show yet.  Dang, no wonder!  Hahahahaha, Chris Chen was right: "pretty boy with a scar on his cheek."

o.O;;

Hahahahaha, perhaps, perhaps not. @__@;

I feel that the potential angst in this series could indeed appeal to the younger CW crowd, especially if it does air after Vampire Diaries...
