I'll be staying at a downtown hotel just a mile from the convention site and I will have shuttle service. However, there has been a lot of talk on CCI's Facebook page about getting paid parking from Ace Parking Management. My question is do any of you suggest that I try to get paid parking even though I am a twenty minute walk from the convention site and that I will have shuttle service from my hotel? I was hoping that I wouldn't need to deal with the hassle of taking my car downtown and just leaving my car at the hotel while I'm at the Con and that if I really needed to go anywhere else I could use the trolly. I already have a big bill for my four-day badge and hotel stay and I don't want to pay for anything else unless it's really necessary.

I wouldn't think you would need parking. Just think about where you want to go. If all you're doing is going to the Con and the Gaslamp, you will be fine with walking/shuttles. Besides, driving around the convention center is horrible and you want to avoid it if you possibly can.
People talking about parking are often locals or people staying far out from downtown and not on a shuttle/trolley route.

A mile from the con is a little far, but it is probably just as fast to walk or take the shuttle than it would be to try an park. The parking is primarily aimed at people who live in the area or are staying much farther out.
If it were me, I would leave that resource for others who may need it.

Last few years I've left my car at the hotel. The only time I've needed it is to go home or eat somewhere outside of the Gaslamp area. Otherwise you shouldn't need your car. Traffic is a PITA and it's easy to get lost if they close down a street for anything and you get re-routed. Plus parking is anywhere from $10-$20 a day for most of the lots so you're gonna add that on top of the $30 or so to park overnight at the hotel so it doesn't sound worth it for you...

the only reason parking works for me is because I've got a straight shot into the con from the south. i got detoured one morning & it's tricky driving in around there, even before pedestrians come out.

Depending where your hotel is, check out the trolley, it has two stops at the convention center, depending if you want to be near Hall A or Hall D when you step off.
