Alyssa, are you going to get a cosplay going for yourself? *poke*

I was toying with the idea of Magneto, Old Snake from MGS IV, or the blue Fallout uniform. Maybe Captain Phasma - I think that would be a progressive choice :)

i need to get an idea of where my weight is before i can plan- it'd have to be something casual & comfortable

I confess that I've always wanted to cosplay, but I never have the time to make a costume.  (I'm old-fashioned; it has to be made by me, ha ha.  Plus, it would be cheaper that way than having it commissioned by another.)  ^__^;  Next year probably won't be the year, but who knows?  Maybe it will happen in the future, ha ha.

You can still do a general plan. Get inspired and find costumes that you would feel comfortable wearing. If you want to do 'everyday clothes' then a character from Walking Dead or Mr. Robot or some similar property would work. You can also find costumes that are comfy and not restrictive, such as Jedi uniforms, Starfleet uniforms, etc. Another possibility is to find themed clothing that is comfy for you, such as a Tardis dress.

You could also go for a character who already bears some physical resemblance to you, which makes it easier. For example, my daughter (who has blonde hair and wears glasses) is very big on *comfortable* cosplay, and we're tossing around the idea of a Kara Danvers costume for her, since she already looks the part, and would just have to wear some kind of recognizable outfit (possibly with an open front and the S t-shirt underneath). My husband (who looks a lot like Neil Patrick Harris, except that he wears glasses) decided to try out Dr. Horrible as his first 'real' cosplay because of his resemblance to the character.

Hmmm.... I think you look like Maggie Green (from TWD)... You have exactly the right facial shape and hair!

Zero, you don't always have to 'make' a costume. I am a big believe in 'closet cosplay', which is putting together off the rack items in a combination that creates a costume. That's how we did my son's Draco Malfoy costume: bought the robe and tie from the Harry Potter store, then just got a generic white shirt and black pants. Add in his physical resemblance to young Draco and voila! Instant costume! It's still his best costume, and he's had quite a few.

I'm already working on my new cosplay ideas, since I have all of the days for this year  >:D I'm still planning to do my Cersei, of course - that was SO much fun this year! I'll probably dress as her on Friday again, assuming that that's the day of the GOT panel and signing.

I'm also in the VERY beginning stages of gathering parts for this (potential spoilers for GOT fans who haven't read the books):
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I've started gathering clothing items to do Maggie from TWD as well. If my sister goes with me this year, I suggested that she dress as Carol, because she has short hair that she can chalk or something to get Carol's color...and she gives off the "mess with me, and you'll wish you hadn't" vibe  ;D

For Maggie, I'm probably going to attempt this look:

OMG, Alyssa, if you go as Maggie, we can be twins!  :D All we have to do is wear our lanyards, and we'll be super easy to spot at the con  ;)

I was Agent Carter for Halloween, so I will probably just try to improve it a little (maybe remake the blouse, I wasn't happy with the darts, and also I didn't hem the skirt well, but I think I can fix it) and wear that one day.

I've done Margaery Tyrell two years in a row now, and I want to do her again, but I always like to do the current season so I have to wait until it airs.

I'm still looking for at least one more but I'm torn between a few options.

My husband never cosplays at the Con, which is too bad, because he made a surprisingly good Daredevil at Halloween.

I've always wanted to cosplay but never followed through with it (wanted to do the exo suit thing).

but I got a 40% off email from holloweenstore.com and jumped on the Wampa costume they had. Expensive, but it looks cool and i dont have to make anything. It is kinda boring though, so im going to spice it up a bit and turn my wampa into Ku-Kak. The force-sensitive wampa slave. He wears his slave owners Crossed Rancor Claw and red circle emblems. and uses a Sith Sword as a weapon.

Trying to get the sword ready for Dec 17th. Not sure this is the best costume for the middle of summer though...

And I have a Carol costume, so we can be double Maggie + Carol! ;)

Semigeek girl, at NYCC Natalie Dormer said that her clothes for this season were rather horrible (meaning sacks and such) because she is in prison. I don't think waiting for this season will help with a Marjorie costume... ;)

Go Jopair! I would love to see your wampa costume!

I know! :( All the leaked shots from Watcher on the Wall are sacks so far. I'm just hoping they get her out by the end of the season, maybe, for one dress. But we'll see. Maybe Melisandre will wear something pretty this season.

I cosplayed at SDCC 2015 as a variant Green Lantern (Indigo Tribe), Future Static Shock and Morpheus from the Matrix. I had a blast, but packing all three costumes was a bit of an issue. I couldn't fit anything else inside the suitcase.

I'm making plans for a Dark Jedi cosplay, but the lightsaber is an issue as the custom sabers cost a good amount. Still trying to work out the kinks for that and the jedi robes. I should have it all ironed out by SDCC 2016... I hope.

Here's my Facebook cosplay page if anyone's interested: https://www.facebook.com/westcoastmorpheus/

For C2E2 I am nearly done with a more New 52 based Burlesque!Enchantress costume. But I'm also redoing Leezar (Absconding with the Bride costume, "Your Highness") and wearing out my Pikachu JSK on other days. (My redo of TASM2 Green Goblin has had to be put on hold. :( )

Last year, I had gone as TASM2 Harry Osborn. Probably a good thing as it was really cold that day...

I'm going to be in a 90s X-Men Animated Series group. I'll be Rogue; we also have Storm, Cyclops, Gambit, and Jean Grey.

I will also be doing Spike from Cowboy Bebop, Sailor Neptune from Sailor Moon, Cruella DeVil from 101 Dalmations, and Raccoon Mario from Super Mario Brothers.

Hopefully I get Preview Night so I can wear all those costumes! ;)

I had this Harley Quinn prison escapee idea that I was gonna use for Halloween last year, but I ended up doing a Steampunk Catwoman. Hmm, but I still think I'll try Harley this Halloween. For CC I'm thinking simple: Either Garnet from Steven Universe or Louise Belcher. :)

Depending on how much you are looking to spend on said wig, I can point you in the right directions on a Merida wig, on a couple different price points. Most are going to be from about 80+ due to the amount of hair she has, though.

I just did Osgood (Doctor Who) at Gallifrey One this past weekend. Such a comfortable but fun outfit. I may bring it to SDCC, but not sure if I want to wear the lab coat/sweater/long sleeve shirt combo in July. I have been shying away from cosplay at SDCC because I need the suitcase space and the extra time to get ready takes away from con time.

newbie question, I intend to cosplay one of the days and I'm wondering is there a main cosplay day? I'm sure there are some people in cosplay every day any way but if there's a main day when the majority of people are I'll make the effort for that day. I still have to look in to ideas so no idea what the cosplay will be yet.

There is no 'main cosplay day' there is a lot of cosplay all 4 days of the con. Preview Night does see less cosplay. Saturday is the Masquerade, but in terms of cosplay about the con, it's pretty consistent Thursday through Sunday.

There's no main cosplay day, but there are days where a group photo happens. Like if you're cosplaying as a dc character, you can meetup with a whole bunch of other dc cosplayers on that day for the photoshoot.

My first year I kept hearing that Friday/Saturday were the biggest days for cosplay, however it's really difficult to tell because there is still a LOT of cosplay happening on the others. It's possible Fri/Sat are still the "biggest", but it's probably not by much in comparison. If anything, just cosplay on the days that your schedule allows for it! Unless of course you're looking at planned photoshoot days as well

So, I just got my dress in the mail - apparently, it came from China in record time  :o Anyways, the main part/cloak fits me perfectly, but the inner dress had a hole for your head that was SO small, I couldn't even fit my own head through it! And I have a pretty average-sized head...

To get it on, I decided to cut a little "V" in the front instead of exchanging it, since I'm likely going to mess up the inner part for the cosplay look anyways - i.e. with

This response may be a little too late but also I feel like it's worth noting that it all depends on your schedule and how you plan to experience the con, which in the end differs for everyone and which is why there really is no main cosplay day. For example, if you're into the Doctor Who fandom and are cosplaying from Doctor Who, you'll probably see more Doctor Who cosplayers on the day that the panel is being held or during an autograph session. Also take into consideration if you're going to spend a majority of the day in a room like Hall H or Ballroom 20. If you're the type of cosplayer who wants their craftsmanship to be seen and who wants photos, then maybe cosplaying on a day where you're mostly staying inside a dark room is not ideal. Again, it all depends because I cosplayed from Agents of SHIELD during the Marvel TV panel and made many friends and had an impromptu photo session with the people I met. It's all up to you in the end.

I'm so jealous! I need to get to a good fabric store or just bite the bullet and buy something online. I wanted to do a Madame Blade Serqet cosplay but I doubt I'll have time to get the tail done and figure out how to go about it to begin with! So I'll probably just throw together a super simple dress for Kiki from Majo no Takkyūbin/Kiki's Delivery Service for two days of simple cosplay

Almost done with my Margaery dress. I'm not sure but I think her dress from last night might be even uglier than this one, lol.

Be creative!

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking... that you would enjoy making that modification to this particular dress.... ;)

I'm torn on last night's dress for Cersei. It was AMAZING, but I thought it was way over-the-top in context. When she got dressed, I blurted out, "What the F is she wearing?" to my husband. And then later when we could see the whole thing I thought she looked like a female version of Darth Vader crossed with Otto von Bismarck.

OMG, that's hysterically accurate! I suppose she wanted to keep everything over-the-top, down to her clothes. But, that would make it perfect for cosplay! Maybe next year...

It would be a fantastic cosplay. I imagine all that detail would be expensive though! I make my own so I'm never sure what stuff costs on commission - both because I value my own time at zero and because it would be too depressing to tally my receipts, lol.

I wish that I had the talent to make my own cosplays! I know some basic sewing from home economics in the 6th grade (hence, I was able to slightly alter my Stoneheart costume for this year), but I never learned much past that. It's something that I'd LOVE to do, but I've been too busy to contemplate it lately :( Someday, hopefully! But the seller I purchased my Cersei dress from was really good at helping me break things down into smaller payments, and the dress came out beautifully. So I would definitely do another commission if I were able to raise the funds again!

One tip, if any of my fellow FoCC friends ever decide to go the commission route: If you like to keep your finances private, NEVER tell a reporter how much you paid for your cosplay and neglect to use the phrase "Off the record." I mistakenly did this last year while being interviewed for a TV station last year, and the reporter then broadcasted the information live...and then, when my parents and sister found the link, they found out how much I had actually paid. And then, they shared the link on Facebook, and my friends found out how much I actually paid. It was kind of embarrassing, haha!

That was kind of rude of your parents and sister, I think! Although I guess it had already been broadcast, lol.
Yeah... I have enough friends who sew (not all cosplayers, but quilters and burlesque dancers and theatre people) that I can commiserate with them on cost without worrying it'll be spread around. I also don't really feel I'm good enough (or un-busy enough) to do commissions, so I don't have to discuss price with anyone else.

Hahaha, they had the best of intentions - and, at that point, I was fine with it, because it was out there anyways - and I was on TV, so I kind of forgot about it until later. They were just so excited, LOL. And the reporter was just doing her job, so I don't really blame her. But, I definitely learned not to mention things in passing if I don't want them spread.

It's always good to have a solid base of people you can discuss those kinds of things with, though! And people who do sewing work will understand how much actually goes into it more than people who don't.

I'm procrastinating working on my cosplay to post about it.

This year I have a healthy mix of custom made stuff and homemade. I have an Infinity Gauntlet dress from Elhoffer Designs that I love, her work is amazing. My biggest work in progress right now is a Kingdom Hearts cosplay. I bought some keyblades at Wizard World philly, and now i'm working on the rest of the outfit. The most time consuming this has been the shoes:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/v6oelj8vdzvlxbq/Screenshot%202016-07-03%2014.10.04.png?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/v6oelj8vdzvlxbq/Screenshot%202016-07-03%2014.10.04.png?dl=0)

They are basically done now. I'm really excited, i just hope I can find a good amount of time when I won't be in panels, or in lines to wear it! This is my tentative cosplay schedule though:

Wednesday: be a normal person
Thursday: Kingdom Hearts AM/ Abaddon from Supernatural PM
Friday: Infinity Gauntlet AM/ Frog from Over the Garden wall PM (Hall H campout)
Saturday: Still Frog (after getting in Hall H, fingers crossed)
Sunday: Amethyst from Steven Universe

I have groups for some things but not all. I'm just looking forward to getting it all done! I'm usually ready by now  ???

are there many people who do just cos play of things out of the shop or is it mostly home made? I know the home made ones generally look nicer but its just not always practical so just curious what the general trend is with people cosplaying.

I am not a 'crafty' person, so I try to buy as much of my costumes as possible. That being said, I will dig around on the internet for pieces that match what I'm trying to achieve. I will also 'make' stuff if it's minimal (for example, this afternoon we cut up a piece of leather scaled fabric and use velcro to create a 'greyscale' piece for my husband's Jorah Mormont costume).

I have a couple of costumes that are more elaborate, and nothing like anything you'd find in a regular store. I had those custom made for me by people who have those skills.

And on the cosplay front.... yesterday and today, my family tried on all of their costumes (3-4 apiece) and we made all final adjustments. We're good to go! Tomorrow I start packing the garment bag.

I would say it probably varies a lot from one convention to another. I think some of the best cosplay I've seen was at Wondercon, but it's hard to say how much of it was made by the cosplayers themselves, or modified from store bought items. I will say, I don't often see something like a ready made Halloween costume at conventions, but some of them are really nice looking nowadays too. There are also so many talented designers out there who take commissions on anything you could ever want, and I've seen some really beautiful costumes that were commissioned pieces. It is typically more expensive to get commissioned pieces though.

My favorite way of doing cosplay is going out to discount shops, and thrift stores and looking for cheap items that I could repurpose into cosplay wear. It took me some time to pick out what things would be good, but eventually you fall into it and start seeing potential cosplay pieces everywhere you look. For instance in my Kingdom Hearts shoes, the huge zippers were on this super fuzzy hoodies at a discount shop near me. They were $3 each, so I bought a few and just tore out the zippers. Now I have a ton of extra fuzzy fabric for a Zootopia cosplay or something! That kind of work is really fun. I'll probably post more about it when my whole Kingdom Hearts cosplays is finished, as most of it is repurposed discount shop items.

Thank you so much! The whole dynamic of cosplay, especially at SDCC, is just fascinating. I always feel appreciated as a cosplayer there, which I can't say is true for every con I've cosplayed at. It's just so inspiring how much the cosplayers and non-cosplayers get out of seeing their favorite characters come to life.

^That is AWESOME!!! I'd like to see the finished product.

What are everyone's cosplay schedules? Tentatively, mine will be:

Thursday - Civilian. I'll probably be exclusive hunting, exploring the convention center and taking photos of cosplayers.
Friday - Mace Windu
Saturday - Future Static Shock (so I can take part in the DC Photo shoot)
Sunday - Morpheus from the Matrix

I just hope that Ultrasabers won't be at SDCC. If everyone walking around is brandishing a lightsaber, it kind of diminishes the Jedi and Sith that are in cosplay. If Ultrasabers does have a booth, I'll probably cosplay another character.

I ended up not cosplaying on Friday because it was too hot and humid. I couldn't walk outside without sweating like a pig. I will have to wait for another show to debut my Green Lantern Renegade cosplay.

I was Future Static for only a couple of hours towards the end of the day because the Pink line shuttle driver didn't show up, so we had to bake in the sun for nearly 30 minutes. Then, when the bus arrived, that driver's shift ended, so we had to wait for another driver to show, which was another 30 minutes. When I finally got back to the hotel to change (which is a 5 minute walk from the shuttle stop), I had some electrical issues with my costume that I couldn't resolve, which wasted another hour. By the time I got back to the convention center, it was well past 6pm. I planned on leaving the center at 2:30 and getting back at 4.

On Sunday, I was Morpheus the entire day, but spent most of my time taking photos of everyone else. I hope to compile a SDCC cosplay video after I review and edit all of the footage. Not sure what song to use, though. I'll be happy to share it here once it's finalized.

This won't be ready in time for WC, but is anyone planning on trying it out for the big show in July - or making their own version?

From http://nerdist.com/somebody-made-a-real-life-spider-man-mask-with-shutter-lenses/

Quote
When Spider-Man (played by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland) appeared in Captain America: Civil War, one of the most notable changes about the new Spidy vs. the older silver screen incarnations was his emotive eyes-which are possibly camera lenses. The shutter lenses or emotive eyes are the kind of effect that CGI can handle for a big-budget film, but for somebody like Spider-Man mega-nerd Lenses Factory HK, who’s definitely working with a smaller budget, it’s go practical or go home.

Spider-Man’s eyes having an emotive quality are a staple of the comic books, and now with Holland’s Spider-Man they’re going to be on the big screen as well. But in real life, it’s not like this level of detail and ingenuity shows up at any given Con. (Maybe Lenses Factory HK has more in common with Tony Stark than Peter Parker?)

According to Lenses Factory HK’s Facebook page, “You can see, even if I’m singing, the lenses won’t move except [if] I trigger the mechanism behind the faceshell with my jaw…” Which is definitely ingenious, although there has to be some wear on your jaw after a few too many surprised! faces.

The masks with the shutter lenses will be available in April, and you can find more details on Lenses Factory’s Facebook page. He also apparently offers a ton of other variations on the suit and mask, although no word about any Hulkbuster suits.

Turns out my wig didn't come in time for anime expo, so I ended up going the full length to cut my hair in the style of the character. I actually really like it, I might end up keeping it this way afterward  ;)

On Friday at SDCC, I was interviewed by Noelle Foley (daughter of WWE's Mick Foley) and won a WWE Chris Jericho action figure. Since I was in costume as Green Lantern, I almost gave it back since I couldn't carry it around, but remembered that a friend had a booth inside the convention center, so I dropped it off with them.

On Saturday, I ended up in a Gamespot DC cosplay video as Future Static Shock. This was a video that only featured a few male cosplayers, so it was cool to be able to make the cut.

On Sunday, the Syfy channel interviewed me as Morpheus, but I couldn't find it anywhere on their website, and not even a photo. As I scrolled through their gallery, I found a pic of me they took the day before as Future Static. This was towards the end of the day because I was tired and took off my arm lights. Still wearing the lighted goggles, though. :)

I (or should I say my wife who did most of the sewing) did manage to finish mine and my buddy's in time.  I was Batou and he was Togusa from Ghost in the Shell.  We costumed on Friday.  For wearing everything for the first time ever it went pretty well.  Only issue I had was the lenses fogged up so I pretty much could just see blurry outlines of objects and some fuzzy details.

Richard Taylor, Weta Workshop founder and boss (which did the props and effects for Ghost in the Shell) saw us and stopped us in the exhibit hall to take photos with us and pay us compliments.  That was the highlight of the con for us!

Here are some pics of my daughters cosplay, it was her first time making & doing cosplay.

As Steve from Stranger Things (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170809/c30a2d6a4fe9341c7979a21e347ace35.jpg)

As Cassidy from Preacher

She also did Link from Zelda but the pictures were extremely blurry, I'm disappointed I didn't check the quality of pictures before she changed.

Clever!

Anyone have new cosplay plans for SDCC this year?

Since it's the last year before GoT ends, I'll be bringing my Brienne of Tarth cosplay this year for the cosplay gathering (also I really want to meet Gwendoline Christie while in cosplay, assuming she attends this year) and possibly my Arya Stark cosplay to walk around the Gaslamp in. I'm also debating whether or not make a Septa cosplay just so I can yell SHAME while bar hopping.

Awesome.  My daughter's name is Brienne (yes named after BoT).  She's only 2 and won't be attending, lol.  We're in the process of buying a condo and moving so there won't be anything new for me this year.  I'll bring Batou from Ghost in the Shell and the others are TBD/undecided.

It's allowed. I've seen gorier/more grotesque cosplays in conventions and nobody really seems to bat an eye.

Well I went from having no new cosplay to suddenly having a few options... Gosh they're all really weeby this year.

I'll have the ED outfit for Ichigo from Darling in the Franxx, Annie from Attack on Titan Junior High, and maaaybe.. if I can pull it off in time.. Tokoyami from My Hero Academia. We shall see!
Now of course the year I choose to drive is the year I decide not to bring any of my big prop cosplays.. Oof.

If you do Tokoyami, will you be doing his gym uniform or his hero costume? Also if you do end up going as Tokoyami and we both somehow end up at the Viz booth at the same time, we need to take a pic together (I'll be in his gym uniform) xD

Probably his hero outfit, though it depends! :) I figured if I can rope my boyfriend into being dark shadow, this cosplay could be a lot of fun.

I'll definitely want some pics with you regardless of whether I complete it in time! ;D

I took a look at the costume props policy and it doesn't explicitly say that they ban any type of bat from the convention: https://www.comic-con.org/cci/convention-policies

I would keep in mind though about the policy of cosplay swords/any type of cosplay weapon tied to you. It's a pretty inconsistent policy since security didn't really enforce it during last year's SDCC/this year's WonderCon although I do know some cosplayers who got stopped and others who didn't have an issue holding their prop normally.

The convention center has it's own policy.  Since the definition of a bat is "a stout solid stick : club", I think it's banned by the convention center rules.

"Dangerous weapons include, but are not limited to: firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons"

Oh yeah, totally forgot about that part. Anyways, I might make a plastic version/foam version of the cricket bat. From my experience in other conventions, wooden bats are generally banned since it can be considered as a weapon. Most cosplayers who use bats (aka Harley Quinns or Negans) go for the plastic version.

I'm planning to do a cosplay this year that pulls on some elements from Mad Max...that means there will be spark plugs and spikes and stuff on our costumes.  Does anyone know if that's ok?  I can't find anything in the SDCC costume policy from 2017 (still waiting on the 2018 policy) or in the convention center policies that covers things like this that aren't specifically detachable "weapons".  Any help would be appreciated!

Gonna try to cram in another cosplay before con....

Does anyone have any tips for Chun Li's Alpha bracelet?? I'm looking for something to use for the metal 'studs'...something dome shaped that I could pain silver....any suggestions? Someone recommended the round half of plastic easter egg but I'd like something that could attach a bit more easily to the base....

Any ideas are appreciated!

If you don't find anything too obvious, I can probably 3D print those for you. It's a pretty simple shape that's easy to design and I'm not using my 3D printer at the moment. Oh these Amazon ones are so good! And cheap too! I cant tell if they're rounded like a true dome or more flattened...its so cheap it's worth it to order and find out ahaha

And that's so sweet of you to offer to 3D print them! Would you happen to live in Arizona ahaha I would prob have to sand them down and stuff right? I've never played with a 3d printer before

I bought my daughter this jacket for her Winter Soldier cosplay. It’s synthetic leather & I’m have a terrible time getting it to look weathered. I tried fine grit sandpaper & those green scratch pads. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Nice.  I thought at first she looked like Kylo Ren.  Don't have any advice on the weathering, except that she can change characters.  ;D

Another item off of my to-do list! I just finished updating my 'Dolores Season 1' Westworld costume to 'Dolores Season 2. Of course, it's a little clean, but I don't want to ruin it completely, in case I ever want to go back to he Season 1 version. ;)

Almost done with remaking my Brienne cosplay! Still need to add extra bits of EVA foam for the bottom of the armor, make adjustments to the belt, and style the wig, but other than that, I think I'm good to go! Here's hoping i don't get a heat stroke!

Also just wanted to share this but I'll also be bringing my Tokoyami cosplay since I know some of us here are huge fans of My Hero Academia. If you see me, say hi!

Totally! I'm just banking on the autograph signings this week, but I've prioritized my friday/saturday for it so far. I just hope its not the same day as the panel if I can only line up for one ;) I do have all of my materials for Jiro though, excited!!

UPDATE: Literally had a mini-cosplay nightmare yesterday since my Tokoyami mask would not fit in my luggage.

Anyways, I decided to make a smaller, more airline friendly mask to bring to SDCC (thankfully I had extra foam) so if you see a bird that looks exactly like this (and probably doing stupid dance moves), then that is most likely me. I actually like this version a lot better since it doesn't look weird from the front and this will probably be my go-to mask from now on. Anyways, see you all there! ^_^

So after two years of working on his A New Hope Stormtrooper costume, my son finally got to wear it at SDCC this year.  Afterwards, he was able to get his 501st Legion basic approval.

Still so much to do.  Now the work starts on getting higher levels of approval.

Thanks, for this Stormtrooper costume, there are three approval levels, Basic (level 1), Expert Infantry (level 2), and Centurion (level 3).  Each level contains increasing on screen accuracy requirements.

There is so much detail that gets covered by these requirements and we have had to make numerous alterations and adjustments to the costume just to get to Basic.
Here is a link (https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt) to the 501st approval criteria for this particular costume.  As you can see, there are a lot of detailed requirements for approval.

Dang, that's intense.  @__@;

I really do give kudos to cosplayers of all types but especially those who put in a lot of time, detail, effort, and funds into their costumes.  When they complete their costumes, it looks incredible, but so much work goes into them to make it look accurate and effortless (which is a feat itself, ha ha).

My daughter agrees with jazzyj's suggestions and adds:

"So yeah in addition to Kamui, EvilTed, and Punished Props I'd say SKS Props and Kinpatsu....Kamui, SKS, and Evil Ted are the best for armor fabrication using worbla and foam....Punished focuses on resin and 3D printing.....And the best places to buy foam are TNT Cosplay Supply and SKS props....Kinpatsu is also awesome for armor but also clothing"

I would HIGHLY recommend watching Youtube videos for Storm the Castle. They're easily found from a simple Google search. He provides instructionals, a FREE pattern to print and cut out and tells you what products and tools you should use for your project. Most of all, I love his positive attitude.

i09's The Best (at Home) Cosplay From San Diego Comic-Con 2020

https://youtu.be/8vd9rHqOVr8

Quote
San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing, only this time it’s from the comfort of our living rooms. But amazing cosplay waits for no convention center! In lieu of our normal compilation videos, we asked cosplayers to send us clips showing off their tributes to our favorite shows, films, comics, and video games. And y’all freakin’ delivered.

Check out io9's video above that highlights some truly fantastic at-home cosplay submitted by our readers for SDCC 2020. Whether it’s Iron Fist and Ryu showing off slick moves in a garden, Merida from Brave having some socially distant fun at a castle, or a couple of Skeksis from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance doing chores around the house—they’re all outstanding. Be sure to tell us your favorites in the comments, because we’re seriously having a hard time choosing!

We want to thank all the cosplayers who sent us videos for our at-home cosplay video. We got submissions from all over the world, including folks from India, Denmark, South Africa, England, Egypt, Brazil, and more! These cosplayers have made our Comic-Con feel so much brighter. Be sure to check out each and every one of them online—we’ve highlighted their Instagram or other social media platforms in the video.

Hi @TiWi (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9375) !!  This is a great time to learn about sewing!  Avoid crowds and have your cosplay perfect by next summer!

My daughter has made many costumes, as well as props, corsets, and armor.  She searches youtube for videos once she has an idea what she wants to make.  There are also costume specific groups on FB and other sites, for instance she follows a FB group that makes Wonder Woman costumes.  Good luck with your searches and hopefully your learning curve won't be too steep!

It's been a while since this thread has seen some activity, but I finally purchased a 3d printer and got it up and running.  I've been resisting 3d printing for the longest time since I got into cosplay about 20 years ago and I was stubbornly sticking to old methods of prop making.  However I've been enjoying the printer and the tinkering that comes with it.  I'll have some new props for SW Celebration.  Nothing new planned for SDCC though.

I studied costume design in college and hadn't sewn for about 20 years. During the past 2 years I have been making masks for family and friends and scrub caps for my friend who is an ICU nurse. She asked me to make her an Outlander costume and it is a bit daunting as I haven't make a dress in forever. I have made the red coats simular to what that the English officers wear in the show in college so I just need to get back into it and get the material and draft patterns.

I can do some minimal sewing but I agree, costume creating does feel a bit overwhelming to me. I started a draft spider-Gwen in 2020 and have been really struggling to continue. I still have to sew it then mark it for the color differences then start all over with the real costume. I’m thinking about changing and doing a book reference for my first one instead. All I’ll have to sew is the cloak and the rest is more regular cloths

Wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for cosplay websites or commissioners? I would like to do a Monica Rambeau (WandaVision) cosplay in her Sword Uniform, a Symmetra or Sombra cosplay (Overwatch) and/or a Nessa (Pokemon Sword Gym Leader) cosplay, but these can be pretty niche and not as easy to throw together in a trip to Savers or Goodwill. I'd like to do something higher quality than your typical Rubie's Costume from a halloween store, but unfortunately I don't have the skills to put something together myself.  If anyone has some tips or recommendations for cosplay commissioners or websites to check out, I would love to have them!

My daughter did something similar once with Chell's jumpsuit from Portal. Easiest costume to wear. She just put her hair in a ponytail and off she went.

And soooo comfortable.  :smilie_happy_clapping:

I was in the Air Force so I already have the flight suits, boots, gloves and a g-suit. I had some of the patches and then I ordered the rest of them. I just have to add Velcro to the patches and sew the Capt rank on.

That does sound very easy! Awesome!

My issue is that I have a long torso. Any jumpsuit/one piece style costumes have to be custom made for me.

I have been thinking about a Tawny Madison/Gwen DeMarco (Galaxy Quest) costume... but that requires a custom make for me.

That would be amazing! I love Galaxy Quest.

I have a long torso too but fortunately flight suits are pretty adjustable with velcro straps at the waist. Plus I got the men's so they're a little more roomy lengthwise.

Trust me to have only just now noticed this forum as the obvious place to ask this question. ;)  *facepalms appropriately*

I'm cosplaying pretty intensely all days of con (bringing my new Loki, Daemon Targaryen, Fire Lord Zuko, casual & armoured "Witcher" Geralt) & I could actually use an assist getting into my Geralt armour (season 2) in particular....alas, given how hardcore that armour is (custom-fit molded leather), it's just not possible for me to get into it on my own.  My current plan is to do that cosplay on the Friday!

If someone would be amenable to help fasten the armour for me (cuirass mainly, and 2 bracers) on Friday morning, I would be only too happy to treat them to breakfast or Starbucks and a snack!  I'm staying right super close to con. :)

I saw your request in the other thread.

Honestly, I don't think that a lot of people know what they will be doing each day until the schedule comes out. If it turns out that you and I are diong the same thing, I'd be happy to assist you. But until I. know where I'll be, I don't know if I'd be able to meet up with you.
